It's awesome to see so many new Maxima owners finding their way here.

I updated the list on the first page of this thread. I think I got all the recent additions, but if you don't see yourself on the list--or would like something changed or updated--let me know and I'll get you added.

Hello fellow Nissan/Infiniti owners! I just joined the site about 30 minutes ago, and this was the first thread I found. So, I figured I should be a good n00b and introduce myself formally.

Now, onto the good stuff...my car! :

I just want to know one thing: why is trying to decide what model of tires to put on my vehicle such an ordeal?

Welcome to NICO, Jon.

What's making choosing tires an ordeal?

We plan to keep this luxury cruiser on the road for 20 years - so we expect to make good use of this website

Car is stock. Since it replaces a 1981 Ford Fairmont station wagon (a heavier car with only 110 hp), we are still adjusting to life in a car with too much comfort, too much power, too much speed, too much style.

(Not as good for hauling lumber, or two large wet dogs, though.)

We are planning a family trip to Whistler - a ski resort that turns into a mountain biking mecca in the summer. Any suggestions out there (or internet links) for a bike rack that will work on an I-30 and support 2 full-suspension bikes (80 lbs)?....probably the kind that inserts into the draw-bar slot of a towing hitch would work....

Thanks

Dani-30

The class I (1.25 inch) receiver hitch mount type bike rack is a great option, especially if you'll be using it a lot. You could also with a trunk mounted rack like this one but those ones sit directly on the paint--which can't be good for it. And of course there's the option of a roof-mounted rack.

No, that's the stock VE grill, but it has been repainted. I think the first owner got in a minor accident and the body shop didn't know the correct paint scheme. The slats in the grills are no longer black and the inside of the hamburger is black instead of body color.

Ahh, I'm just not used to seeing 92s with the hamburger grille (versus the grille with "NISSAN" printed in the top corner)

Welcome Mike. That's a clean car! Am I correct in guessing from your username that you've got an Infiniti FX, too?

Sponsors that have products for our vehicles are listed in this sticky. zerothread/119692

Off the top of my head Sport Compact Only and Custom Enterprises carry them (I belive). Be sure to mention that you are a NICO member for any discounts offered.

Made them illegal...no ****? I have the diamond cut clears on my car, and I know a ton of other people that have them. There's bound to be some on ebay. I'll make a couple calls to see if some former Max owners have them. As far as I know no models came with clear corners.

thank you sir. only wondering about the older models because i saw a base model today at work and it had clear lenses. was unsure if they were stock or not.

hey, I heard of NICO watching NOPI on Speed channel and thought I would check it out. Great site!

I own a 1990 Maxima that I have been working on for a little over a year. I love the car. This is my second Nissan. I bought a P/U new in 1990. Anyone who doesn't think they are the best cars made hasn't owned one.

You can see mine at:http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2091707

Also I have a new Fiber Images hood for a 4th gen Maxima for sale. It is brand new, still in the box.

Welcome to the family!

That is one clean engine bay.

I've currently got a VG33 supercharger sitting in my garage that I'm looking into making work with the VG30. It's not going as quickly as I'd like due to a general lack of funds, but it'll get done eventually...

Bought an '03 Maxima Auto yesterday. Its a base model, is there a trim designation for the base?

Thanks. Keep me posted on the VG33Sc install. I have read that you will need the 33 heads as well to install the huffer. Any truth that? I would rather keep my 30 heads. plus let me know how much you have to mod the hood.
