Thanks!its the ionic body kit--- I originally wasnt going to put a kit, but I think this kit gave my car a more sporty look. I prefer the Stillen kit though

I agree about the Stillen kit; I think it's the best one out there for the 4th gens, but yours looks good as well. Those rims set your car off well also.

well, I left the maxima fold for exactly one week... I sold my 95 black maxima SE, then my wife and I traded her escape for a 2003 Infiniti I35 in Diamond Graphite with black leather. I'll post pics soon....

Hey My name is Jon I have a 96 maxima GXE Its mostly stock but I did put a new exhaust system in with a 4in raceing muffler and 2 3/4in piping(no resignator), and I replaced the bose headunit with a jensen 7in flip out dvd player.Once I get some pics Ill post them.

im planing on swaping the engine with its japanese counterpart along with other things like putting out a 5 or 6 speed manule transmission, turboing it, and improving the sound system. All My plans for performance modding it are going to wait till I go to collage at the end of July, but I will be inproving the sound system in the time Im still here at home.

Actually, Japanese market A32s didn't come with anything better than your car's VQ30DE. The only other engine options were the smaller 2.0 and 2.5 liter VQs. There is a 3.0 direct injection VQ from the V35 Skyline, but that would be extremely expensive and hard to come by.

really?? I heard that the A32's had around a 30hp gain over the VQ30DE.

Converting the Maxima to RWD or AWD would cost tens of thousands of dollars and require massive amounts of custom work. You'd be better off just hunting down a Skyline. Also, the V35 Skyline I referred to is not the same Skyline "supercar" that is worshipped worldwide, but rather the Japanese equivalent of the G35--but the G35 doesn't come with the VQ30DD that the Skyline does.

As for the Japanese VQ30DE making more power than the US motors--it's all down to tuning and emissions equipment, basically. The motors themselves are essentially identical. You could do just as much with your USDM VQ as you could with a JDM VQ.

Ok cool yea I knew converting would be expensive but what about the 3.0 direct injection VQ.

Hello friends. I am the proud new owner of a 97 I 30, automatic, black. I live in in Lee's Summit, MO which is a suburb of Kansas City.

I have found this website helpful already. I found somebody else that had a problem with the rearview mirror falling down in hot weather. I fixed easily.

Now I wonder if anybody can help with another problem I have. The door handle on the driver's side is loose on the outside of the car. I saw somebody had this problem back in '04, but I did not see how or if he got it fixed. It's like the whole handle has come unattached from the slot it is supposed to fit.

Anybody have a clue?

Thanks.

Paul

Welcome to NICO!

I would say that you probably have to either tighten, or replace the entire handle if broken. You'd need to remove the interior door trim panel to gain access to the handle itself, but it should just be two nuts holding it in the door panel.

Here's a diagram on the interior removal.

If you're looking for more power, the VQ30DE-K (variable intake manifold) or VQ35DE (torque monster) swap is the best and most economical way to go. Both swaps are tried and true. No point in importing a JDM engine for our cars.

Hi Scott,

I am a newbie. Just purchased a 2001 I-30 couple of days back. Any advice for a newbie on how to take care of his car?

Welcome all newcomers.

Nice looking ride Sarath. The most important thing you can do for your car is regular maintenance (oil, coolant, trans fluid, brakes, tires, etc).

As for the outside, just wash and wax regularly to keep it looking good.
