Yep. Sometimes it's like half bucket of water drops into the J after a fresh wax job.

Mmmm..... Warm buns!

Ive never noticed the thing where water spills on your lap... I have on other occasions driven when its stopped raining with the windows open and take a turn, only to have gallons dump on you then! Theres nothing but a feeling of intelligence there!

Back to my old point of getting in and out of the Q. Why is there only one "notch" in the arm of the door. Don't know what you call it. When you open the door on most cars, you can either open it all the way, or there's a notch that will catch it half way. My Q doesn't seem to have it (is true of all Q's?). Either it opens all the way (Bang!) or swings back and chops off your leg (Ouch!) Especially on slight hills. I forget which car I had (Volvo or Saab) that had a handle inside to grab onto to help exiting. Great idea. Only real beef about the car, outside of the 2nd gear start and rough idle, which I can have fixed. I'm tired of wrecking my front seat.

The one detent door thing is the same on mine. On a hill, it takes me two times to get it open & stay out there for a scond to roll my fat :bshake out before it closes again.

If you look at the door jamb, there's two pieces of metal held together at each end that have two 'humps' in them and they slide together into the door. The humps are to give it two detents to stop, one partially open, the other all the way open.

They could be worn down & be replaced, or you might try wiping a little of the lube on them off. That might provide enough friction to keep it partially open.

I haven't looked at mine that closely, but it also could be the plastic slider the two strips go through is worn & maybe it could be replaced to make it tight again.

Gas mileage, rear leg room, trunk space. Ride can be improved a little more.

1) No Fog Lights!!!!!!! How do you build a car like the J30 and not even offer them as an option...does anyone know of anything aftermarket?

2) Premium Fuel Requirement

3) Crappy Lateral Support in Front Buckets...typically Japanese.

4) Pearl Harbor...watched it again the other night, and remembered why I had never owned a "rice-burner" in the past.

*All of the above said, still a very reliable car with great performance and handling for the price.

I think if you looked hard enough you could find something racially wrong with every car. Stop living in the past.

1. Fog lights weren't the fad in the mid 90s that they are now. Besides, almost everyone abuses fog lights.

2. The VG30DE is a high compression engine. Need anti knock fuel. It comes with the territory.

3. Maybe I'm just the right size. The seats fit me well.

4. "Pearl Harbor" (except for the action scenes) is one of the crappiest movies I've ever seen. Come to think of it, even some of the action scenes were bogus.

A couple of your complaints are like pining for an electric toaster in 1820.

Boy, ain't that the truth. BMWs and SUVs are the worst offenders.

I once mentioned to a too young BMW driver his fog lights were on (it was a nice clear night downtown). His reply was that they were driving lights. I replied that can't be true, because he obviously didn't know how to drive. :rolleyes

And are Js the only Infiniti that got cup holders?

When I first bought the car I thought the heated seats were defective but when I read the owners manual it clearly stated that they will not turn on unless someone is sitting in them. I know the 99 I30's are the same way.

The need for premium gas agrevates me too.

Then don't buy a car with a high compression engine. Just say you don't like your engine.

I don't like that my J doesn't run on hydrogen.:rolleyes

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII have a questionnnnnnnnnnn....

ok looking at all your guys' comments about "dislikes of a Q" lol really makes me start to hate mine. lool....well true trunk is too small, especially when i put a speaker box in it with two JL 12's and a 1000/1 JL amp...i dont have room for my damn jacket anymore. well that's not the issues...

my Question is...i'm getting 20's for my Q, i'm lost on what size tires would look right and not make it look like a lifted truck/car.... they're size (front ) 20 x 8.5 and (back) 20 x 9 not much diff...but i dont know what size tires i should getttttttttt...please help.

btw i have a 1991 Q.. 190,000 and i can still smoke few racers lol all stock, didnt mod anything except stereo system, without taking out my BOSE inside speakers...anyways plz help me with tire size...

thnxRon

Heres your solution.

Dont put 20s on the Q.... They simply wont fit and the tires youd have to use would have NOWHERE NEAR enough sidewall to support the Q on everyday roads.

Even tirerack doesnt have anything abovej 19s! I would suggest you get 18s, max 19s and that should make you happy.... Plus tires are easy and cheaper to find. Not to mention the ride quality and increased stopping distance you would get from 20in rims...

Save the ultra dubs for the escalades!!!!!

Just my humble opinion. :)

I hate to be cynnacal, but if you must not have cared about trunk space when you put a box in there. Just MHO!! :)

Ihave seen 20's fit a q comfortably but you shouldn't go higher thant 19. This generation Q wasn't really engineered to go with the 20's like the newer Q's. But Cali has good roads so you dont have to deal with the pothole mania and bad roads of NYC. If you have to go 20 you need a 35 series tire to fit. I can't guarantee you won't scrub but I'm 85% sure you wont. Go 18, 19 if you can.

At 5600 miles I can't stand the brake squeal when I'm backing up AND the rattle in the rear view mirror casing. Disappointing for a $46K car. Oh and the left driver's side mirror is blurred. Yes new parts ordered 1/20 and no sign of them yet...

How about the fact, that when you go out to warm-up the car, and want to run back into the house, when you open the door, the wheel and seat do not retract, since the car is on.

Plus, when I have someone in the back seat, I almost always crush their legs, if I turn off the key, before they get out. I have been better at this. I usually hit the cancel button, when someone sits behind me.

I agree it should retract whenever the door is opened. I always move my seat forward just a bit and it cancels the feature until you press 1 or 2 memory setting. But the transmission has to be in Park!

TxGuy, how does the build quality of your new M compare to your pre French aqusition J30 and G20?
