Exactly haha. I'd need a few more things coated in dolla billz to add up to how much I have in this engine though.

Busting a** early can lead to good things later in life, just make sure you take breaks to enjoy things. I can't believe I'm almost 40. I mean...pretty soon I'm going to have my prostate checked because I need to...not because it feels good :chuckle:

Don't lie WD, you probably visit the doctor once a week to get it checked

Some good news: my engine runs!

Some bad news: I need to pull it out again!

Turns out I shimmed the oil pump wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much, I used a bolt that fit inside the spring so the head of the bolt was like a big washer. It's like .125" thick, the most people are shimming the pump is like .04", and some people were saying that was too much. I haven't seen anything less than 100 psi, so I definitely need to take care of that before I actually drive it anywhere.

Even if I could drive it, my clutch is messed up. I think either the pivot fork is bent or the pivot ball is broken. The clutch slave has to extend way past where it should in order to release the clutch, and when i let off the pedal there isn't any "grabbing" point, the car just starts moving. It's like the pivot fork is getting stuck on something and not letting the pressure plate fully engage.

My power steering pump is also really messed up, it's making a horrible grinding noise. I'm going to look running no ps for a little while in order to fix the pump and stop the noise. The noise in the video is the pump, not the engine.

Dang Chris! One of these days you'll get to drive it again :frown: Brian, I know man, but that's the thing, I haven't taken time to enjoy things, at all. I've had a constant job of some sort since I was a little kid. I used to go to work with my stepfather every summer starting when I was only 5 bc he didn't want to pay a babysitter. I'd help him out with all of the "safe" stuff, like fetching chainsaws lol. Eh, it'll be over soon and I'll get to enjoy things a bit more, just like you enjoy having your prostate milked :inoutgay:

Once life is gone, it's gone. Don't waste too much of it in the pursuit of what "could happen" if the stars align etc. You could work your whole life, become a Dr in whatever field and then get hit by some kid texting and driving. Just when all that work is paying off...

My best advice would be to pursue happiness at all costs. Work as hard as it takes to achieve your goals, only so long as your happy while doing it. Don't go throwing caution to wind, but life is an experience and the memories we take away from those experiences is all we have. Better to have a small library full of great books, then a vast archive waiting to be filled.

Wow man, I couldn't have said it better myself. I know this is only a time and season in my life and it too will pass (shortly). It's hard now, but will pay off in the end. I love my job (just hate 3rd shift lol), so I know it won't be an issue. I do need to, and regret at times, not spending enough quality time with friends and loved ones. Life is indeed so fleeting and those are the times I don't want to miss. On a side note. I had the SR tuned at Mainstream Performance in Dallas, GA. Their tuner, Scott (who probably more well known in the honda world) is one of only two NIStune authorized tuners in GA. I had him do the board install and tune. Car made 237whp & 217 wtq at 10.88 psi. Ambient temp was 56 degrees F & 30% humidity. Before tune, the previous dyno at a bit over 8 psi, made 223whp & 197wtq. It made higher numbers, but more importantly, I gained good hp & tq in the midrange. The SR is stock except for Greddy M-Spec FMIC and full 3" exhaust from turbo back (Megan elbow, Greddy DP, Megan resonated test pipe, Megan exhaust) They told me it probably hit the 10.88psi bc it was colder temp (I have no boost controller, just the stock WG) I'm happy with these results. Car drives so much better now. Power delivery is much smoother. They saved the dyno graph file on my USB drive, but it didn't save correctly. I've asked them to send it to me again though.

Nice numbers! Driveability is key, smoother power delivery makes it a much better drive.

Since you're just using the stock wastegate, I'm also assuming you're vacuum source goes from the compressor housing to the wastegate actuator? If this is correct, there are 2 things you can do to have boost come on sooner. Which means more useable power...duh. Both methods simply delay the vacuum signal from reaching the actuator. So you eliminate boost creep almost entirely, which is a pretty big issue on factory turbo's. Sometimes you'll see an extra 30whp in the lower ranges.

Anyway, one method is called the Ultra Cool Soup Can Mod. Just install a can, I use a soup can, inline between the actuator and the vac source. The other method, which is far easier, cheaper and cleaner, but came to me AFTER the soup can idea, is to use like 4-5 feet of vacuum hose coiled up and tucked out of the way. The longer hose delays the vac signal just enough to remove boost creep without causing a spike.

Cheap and easy mods that bring added power, FTMFW.

Soup Can Racing.

Fixed all the little stuff wrong with my car. Clutch works awesomely, power steering fixed itself, and my oil pressure is normal. Turns out the crappy prosport sender was shorting out inside the sending unit causing the needle to go straight to 100psi and stay there. I managed to piece together a mechanical oil pressure gauge and all the fittings I needed from some friends, turns out I have 60psi cold idle and about 30 psi warm idle. Inspection station tomorrow, then I can finish up break in!

Chris, just go buy an Autometer short sweep elec gauge at the parts store or from Summitracing. Will cost you About $60 and works fine. WD, I actually run the WG signal off of a port on the bottom portion of the throttle body. On the S13 SRs, the port is just below the TB and is before the throttle plate too, so it only sends a pressure signal to the WG, no vacuum. This works great since we know that vacuum to the WG can damage the diaphragm. The line is ~2ft long as a result. I think I just need to install a new garrett WG actuator (bc of the stock one's age) and get a good boost controller. Adrian, I can't see what you posted :/

I've never seen or heard of a diaphragm actually getting damaged from vacuum. I source all of my vac signals from the intake manifold, but only because I want to compensate for intercooler drop etc. How many RB20's and 25's are in existence? Every single one of those dudes was sourced from the compressor housing. I'm only arguing to argue btw. I have always told people to source their vacuum from the intake manifold.

He posted a video, it's an older skit from the 50s or something. If it's supposed to be us, I'm definitely the guy on the table pouring the champagne. If you can't see it, update your flash player.

^ahh! That sucks. I hope he's alright. I haven't seen him post in awhile. You know what I just realized? Pics, vids, etc. never show up for me when I'm viewing threads, just a loading gif, but when I reply to something, I can see whatever it was. That's so weird. It's only from my home computer too. Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone. I have to work Christmas Day, so the wife and I are having our Christmas tomorrow. I bought her (us really lol) the complete Harry Potter Blu-ray Movie collection. Going to watch several of them tomorrow :)

The whole HP collection on blueray ftw dude. I have half and half, dvd - br. Wife and I are huge HP fans. We went to see the last one at the theater, kind of a sad moment when a good series comes to an end. We've done the HP marathon a few times.

Merry Christmas!!!

Been working a ton. Hope you guys have a Happy New Year! I'm running IE 9 (I know, I know). WD, I don't have personal experience, but I have heard via interwebz lore & from some shops, that running a vacuum signal to a WG diaphragm can damage it. I dunno, it doesn't need vac to work correctly, so I just err on the side of caution. I love the HP blu-ray set. It's very bare bones though, so if you want a ton of extras, they're not there. Supposed to be a new set with tons of extras out next yr. I've never read the books, but enjoy the movies and wife loves them. She owns all the books too. Also, I've been driving the 240 as often as possible. Loving it. PS rocks btw. Have to get the A/C back in this summer.

:bs: j/k I enjoy the SR, but as it ages and parts become harder to find, I'll need to consider my other choices as well. Hopefully won't have to worry about that for a good 5+ yrs though.

It barely comes alive at 10psi, I bought it planning on building the engine and wanting 20+psi. We'll see when that happens.

I'm running JWT ECU which is very rich (at the dyno they said there's 30hp more left in tuning). But I'm getting around 20-22 mpg if I keep my foot out of it.
