Yeah, I know. I'm too far into it to just throw it away and go with an entirely different motor at this point though. I plan on having this setup basically the "final version" for this chassis. I don't want more than 350whp, a well built KA should last for a while at that power level. I dropped off some .02" over oem pistons off at the machine shop today, I'm just going to sell the JE pistons. Ivan was breaking rods at 400whp, as long as air and fuel are kept in check the pistons seem to be fine at that power level. Hopefully K1 rods and stock pistons will be as reliable as I need it to be.

I've been wanting to build a v8 fc3s for a while now, but I'm not even going to think about that until I've graduated and have a real job. My s13 will be caged and become my track car, fc will be fun street car that can still drift if need be haha.

^there you go. I feel the same way. I had always had V8 growing up & I enjoy the broad, instant torque, but I also like the free-revving SR and the feel of the turbo kicking in, and I only want about 275-300whp. I hope mine lasts for many yrs to come (~5 more or so) bc I only plan on turbo upgrade, injectors, Z32 MAF, and cams. If the bottom end needs rebuilt/replaced, I'll end up with a V8 swap for exactly the reasons WD mentioned (parts accessibility). If it happens within the next 2 yrs, I'll just get a basic bottom end rebuild (new rings, bearings, re-condition rods, polish crank, etc.)

Hmm, so 400hp is about the breaking point for stock rods?
Tempts me for more power....

Seems 400-450 is the stock rod max. But stock ringlands will go out before that.

Yeah, as far as I know the stock ringlands on KA pistons are a bit weaker than on an SR. Honestly, on most of these engines (KA, SR, CA, etc.) if I were shooting for more than 350whp (even with great tuning) I'd go ahead and upgrade the pistons to forged units. I'd upgrade the rods while I was at whether they can handle 400whp+ or not. My .02

Sup!

Dunno about the "page loading" ad, I have Adblock, so maybe that's why.

I know some RB guys like Holset turbos. Casey, you're really flying to Miami to buy a RHD S14 with SR? Please keep this one for at least one year then lol. It does burn a hole, esp. bc you're paying for new titles, registration, etc. and maintenance with each new one. Also, you keep going back to an S14. You seem happy with them. Buy one, stick with it. Use the pathfinder for a DD and have the S14 as a fun car. My .02

Exactly, S14's the only thing I feel right in, I guess since it was my first car and ive had numerous ones. Byeah, its a white zenki, complete rhd swap, cusco 2way diff, sr polished head and intake, hks coils, pretty much all do, I wanna convert it to a kouki, jdm bumpers, oem lip, jdm back bumper with valances, and kouki sides with a kouki wing and probobly some lmgt4's. Wanna keep it oem looking. Its got a kit on it now and ive never really been a fan of kits on my cars. I like em on other peoples cars and stuff, just not mine. lol

How much for the HK35? I might know someone interested.

I'm a big fan of OEM aero as well. I've seen some S13 hatch kits that look okay, but I'm not willing to deal with the issue that come with fiberglass. Just took my final exam today. Glad I get this next month off & looking forward to being done in May. I'm so sick of school...
