Those new wheels are awesome.

I wish I had something other than stock 350z wheels!

Haha Razi already managed to "like" this picture on the bookface, but I got my g-grow rear lip today! It broke during shipping, I'm going to try to file a claim for it though. I'll probably end up fiberglassing it back together once I get it fitting.

Soon, I have other things to do before paint (5 lug, random turbo stuff, etc), but it will definitely be painted by the end of the semester!

Ah, new paint would be great. A/C is priority this year though. Too hot and humid in GA to go another year without it.

True that, after finally having A/C I don't know how I lived without it.

P.S. If any of you guys come across a pignose lip I'll pay you to ship it to me!

Where's Motoman?

Make us some cool braces! :P

Btw did any of you guys get subframe bushing collars?
I'm wondering if getting these might stiffen up the rear a little bit and lessen the chassis creaking noises.

I had collars on my old shell, I still had wheel hop though. I have some SPL solid subframe bushings in a box waiting to go in, I just haven't had time though. I did notice once I put my roll bar in there were a lot less creaking noises, but I had to sacrifice my interior haha.

These braces look like they'd stiffen the front end up a lot, but I'd like to see how low they are in comparison to the rest of the underbody.

I was just thinking about making something like that for my Caravan. I know I know...stfu or I'll ban everyone in this thread...f***.

But when the suggested speed limit is about as fast as your vehicle can corner...it makes you want to improve things. If it handled awful it would be an improvement. And it's slow...

I'm thinking drop springs and some serious steel supports.

Ah Fed tax return, credit card at zero for the first time in a long time.

Now if I'd just stop buying things for the S13s.

That's awesome dude. Paying off debt always feels great. I can't wait to unload this f*** house, we'll be down to one car payment and a small amount on our Military uniform account.

I still have to wait on my State return, but all of it has to go to labor for installing a new Vert top.

I have the house payment and car payment (another 3+ yrs), but only a little over a yr for my financial aid.

I might try to mock up something that mount on the sides of the frame rails so they don't scrape anything.

If I was a baller, I'd have these made!:

Miata dudes get some cool stuff!

There's also this:

Looks like it solidly connects the subframe to the chassis and extends to the frame rails.

Even the triangle that connects the subframe to the chassis seems like it would be a good improvement.

Godspeed should copy em. :P

WD, when you do finally get coilovers, I strongly recommend Stance LX+ These coils ride amazing and still inspire confidence when I want to toss the car around backroads. I've noticed too, that when I raise the car a bit to a decent ride height (about one and a half inches b/t top of tire and fender) they ride even better :) As far as subframe collars, I say if you get some, go for the Peak Performance polyurethane ones. Hard, but not as hard as alum, and still slip on. These are the ones I'm going to get.

Yeah, I'm gonna grab something cheap until I can afford a decent set.

Here's a question for you guys. When I'm driving in 1st in a parking lot or something, when I push the clutch in and "unload" the rear end it makes an pretty loud thunk. Like a bushing or mount is totally f'd. When I was under the car hooking the d/s back up etc, I looked at everything I could see and nothing was obvious. The suspension is old, like 125k. Any idea what I should be looking for?

Also, since I haven't driven her in awhile...she's a creaking and popping old slwhore these days. My rear deck makes a ton of noise, the seats etc...everything squeaks or rattles. I was going to coat everything with armor all today and spray silicone on everything under the car, any other idea's?

If it's this loud, my wife will never want to drive it. That's pretty much key to keeping her...the car that is :chuckle:

Sounds like it. Not sure if RPSport sells s14 subframe braces, but when I installed them on my s13 it made a noticeable difference in wheel hop and rear subframe solidness haha.

So I go out to my car this afternoon and when I roll down the passenger window I notice the side view mirror glass had fallen out, I get out of my car to check it out and there's a nice red mark on the outside of my mirror housing and the glass is on the ground in 5 pieces. Awesome.

^don't you love douches? Sucks man, but at least they didn't sideswipe you. WD, might be the diff bushings also. Mine will do the same thing sporadically, but I know mine is from the subframe bushings. Since the S14 has diff bushings as well, it could also be those. Like you said, the whole driveline is loaded with rotational torque and when you suddenly release it, it's probably causing hte subframe or diff housing to pop/shudder since the bushings are old and worn. I plan on having my subframe bushings swapped by this winter. A/C for the summer is more important right now :)

Time for some Maxima mirrors!

I think RPsport is dead now, and I think the S14's subframe is supported better I think.
Image
Looks like it's bolted straight to the body instead of a thin piece of metal like the S13.

I'd check the diff bushings too, replace em with solid bushings.
S13's diff is mounted solid and there's no problems.

I finally sent my manifold to Motoman.
Man, cutting the flange off the KA manifold was a pain in the butt.
But, I learned that if you cut half way through it and smack it a few times with the hammer it falls off.

If I keep this car I'll just drop her off at a shop and have everything rubber swapped out. I know she's in need...probably change her entire personality.

Or I could install a turbo, tune it and sell it. Every time I see a CTS-V lately I get a semi...hard to argue with 400whp, bullet proof 6 spd and the Cadillac interior.

Yeah, but it's a heck of a lot of coin too. If you do most of the work (which you do) You could have a nice DD with that much power and strong trans (300zx swap) with new suspension, fuel, wheels & tires, brakes, etc. for a lot less. Keep the 240. YOu know you need something to tinker on. Casey, I did not hear, what happened?
