thanks, i got a phone call tonight that my head is donethe guy pressure tanked it firstthen pulled valves, springs and retainers outdecked itcleaned it out, installed new new springs and valve sealsput everthing back inpulled my exhaust studs out and decked thatpressurtanked it one more time

for a grand total of 160 dollars a normal deck and pressure tank is 45 doallrs that is if you take everything out your self. and the tool to take out the retainers cost 140 dollars. so if i had done it my self it would have cost 180 bucks plus i might have not got it correct.

i painted my valve cover today, but i dont have clear coat for it yet, i am picking that clear coat for it tomorrow. it will be nice. and i am going to talk to she shop that i want to dyno it at.

oh yea. does the geddy intake manifold come with new studs. lol cause one of my intake studs was bent like bad. i amsume it is from pulling the head, cause my dad said to put the chain on it. i told him it wasnt a good idea. but i gave him the benifit of the doubt, becasue it was my first time pulling a motor and he has done it alot.

s o ineed to find 2 studs that go on either end of the head for the intake manifold.

If anything, you can just go pick one up at the dealer, shouldn't be too expensive

ok as promised pictures of my head. i too kthese during lunch. the camera was on a bad setting and they are a little fuzzy but you get the picture lol.i am replacing all of these with the stud kit from enjuku.com

they guy said my head was super clean and he didnt under stand why i was changing head gaskets, i explained about changing the turbo and stuff so he understood.but he did say the motor looked like it had only 40k miles on it, that it is a good idea to change head studs becasue they are torqued and when you reuse them they will be over torqued, and he said it wasa good idea to change springs with higher lift cams.oh and he said he didnt have to plane it at all. becasue it was perfetly straight.

Oh guys here is the pics from working on my car tonight, i got the head back on, but that is minus the cams and cam gear and other stuff. just the head, head studs, headgasket.

here is my 1.1 mm apexi headgastket

and here is my block all prepped for the head, nice and clean perfectly flat.

here is the bloc kwith the arp head studs installed. at this point i torqued them to 20psi. not sure if that number was correct but all the other numbers were for the actualy head torquing part.when i install the head the chain was in the way and we didnt notice it the one end wasnt going down and my dad was like tighten it a little bit to see if it sucks it down, nope nohting , so we hit it a little with the rubber hammer still no move ment then i realized what it was and we had to undo al lthe head nut and lift the head back up.here is the head on the block i tightend the head studs 20-40-60-80 working my way out from the center. basically backwards of taking the head offi used copper spray-a-gasket on the head gasket befor i installed it. nice even coating. i should have took a picture.another angle of the head on the block. make the block look liek crap with such a clean head. lol

now on to the other thing i did tonight finishing up my valvecover.i pianted the head bright green and then sanded the green off the letters.did the same thing with the spark plug coverhere is the spark plug cover all donethe vlave cover all done.yes my dad told me to mask off around where the oil cap goes but i will just sand it off.this pic give you a better veiw of the actual green color.

and here is the engine bay all painted. the picture is a little fuzzy.

and lastly the intake manifold studs. you can see the bent on on the left compared to the one on the right.

Wow, that was bent pretty badly. Your internals look really clean, those pistons seem to be in REALLY great shape. Nice valve cover btw. More pics of the rest of the build now

yea the block was extremely clean. no wear or anything. a tinny bit of carbon build up. but that just wipped off with a rag. and the sleves were perfectly smooth.

tonigt i have to put the lifters, cams and everything back in. well install new cams. so i need to get some moly assemly lube and bleed the lifters.

gettting the timeing back on is going to be a B**** i think..

Hope you have at least an safc to fine tune the enthalpy rom because I GUARANTEE it won't be spot on. Scott is a REALLY good tuner but mail order rom tunes are NEVER spot on. If he does a real time dyno rom tune it would be a different story and the car will run perfect.

Why don't you ship out your ECU than to have it tuned?

I will just send it in.

but some one up ^^^^ said it can be tuned even close o na dyno, which i know is true, but i want only one place to tune my car. s oif i get a rom tune from enthalpy then i woudl wnat it finished out on a dyno by them. the is NO ONE in my area i would trust tuning my car. i would probalby jsut settle for a rom tuen and that is it. and then put it on a dyno around here to see how much power it is putting down.

I guess you could do that. I have this one guys email who can also tune. He's on nico because I was going to tune my ECU at one point but found out I didn't have to for the mean time. You could probably talk to [email protected]

well tonihgt idid alot, but i couldnt take picturs as the camera was dead.

put all of the head internals back in. and my new cams.

i believe my timing is off.

I need the CAS explained. i searched and found nothing to 0 loldoes it have to go in a certain what. i have it lined up the little red dot with the notch and then slid it in.

right now my cams are set at 10 intake and 12 exhaust. the exhaust is actually one tooth off but i am going to correct that.

and it is set at TDC. second notch from the left.

everything went in smoothly. i used the left over moly lube from my head studs to install the cams. and tightend every thing down to the right specs.

i will put pics on soon.

on friday my new greddy intake manifold and fpr should be here. i need to get the intake studs if any one has a part number for those. and i need to break dow nand orded my new exhaust manifold studs. because they will clamp better to prevent exhaust leaks around the head.

Did you refer to the FSM for the CAS timing? You should see if you can get a hold of "hijacker" he's the mod for the SR forum. He might know

yea. i know where it was when i took it out nad i can bolt it in that same spot. but i want to make sure every timing section is on. timing chain and CAS.

I put the chain tensor on and i could turn it over no problem. and it went smooth. and the CAS was in at the same time too. so it seems to work i just need to adjust the exhaust cam over one tooth and then get the CAS set correctly.
