hey thanks, but i used that allready to install them, but that is about an sr20 not the det. so the timing is a little different. and they are talking about a distributor on the back of the exhaust cam.

i did pick up some intake studs today for 4.75 for two. so whe nmy greddy intake comes i cna put it on this weekend.

oh i thin k i might borrow and engine stand so i can ad stuff to my motor when iget money to buy it. but can push it in the corner to do body work.

How To Set CAS Timing on the SR20DET

Resetting your engine's timing back to factory setting is pretty straightforward thanks to the markings provided on the CAS, cams, and pulleys.

This guide assumes that the timing chain is installed correctly. If there is any doubt on the installation of the timing chain, do not proceed as damage to your pistons/valves can occur.

Hand crank the engine until the two dark chain links line up with the notches on the cam sprockets. When the links line up with the notches, the timing marks on the pulley, the cam sprocket notches, and the dark links should be in a similar position as shown in the image below (Fig. 1), but with the crank pulley set to the 2nd mark to the left instead of the 1st. Figure 1

After lining up the crank/cams, remove the two bolts holding the CAS, unplug it, and remove it from the cylinder head. On the CAS, there will be two notches on the shaft that are right next to each other. Looking at the CAS with the black cap towards your body, rotate the shaft until the right notch lines up with the notch on the CAS housing. Put the CAS back into the head carefully. If this procedure is done correctly, the second notch on the shaft should now line up with the notch on the housing, and the CAS position (can rotate it +-30 or so degrees...) should be centered. See image below for correct positioning of the CAS. Replace the screws & plug in your CAS. Start your engine and let it warm up to normal operating temperature. After warmup, your engine should be idling around 850rpm - check your timing with a timing gun. Stock factory timing is at 15 degrees, which is the 2nd to last mark on the crank pulley.

awsome!!! I think I messed up on the timing marks on the CAS when I installed it, I'll align it this weekend in hopes that I fix my timing better, before the timing light

so i was going to d oa article thread on switching parts over from my stock intake manifold to my greddy one. but i am having enough trouble with it that i dont think i will. i will just put pic on here of what i am doing instead. to start out these instuctions didnt help much. i felt lie ka 5 year old that couldnt read and could only look at the pictures.

Ya all in japanese

so i kinda had to go by pics and use some common since. i didnt finish the job. becasue ididnt have any thread lock, which i will pick up tomorrow.pic of stock manifold with everyting on it.pic of greddy manifold with nothing on it.the to manifold side by side. notice how more airodynamic the geddy one is. for increased air flow.i started off by taking off the throttle body and putting it on the new manifold.it was held on by four 8 mm alen wrench studs.this pitur told me to chang the position of the spring on the throttle pully so the pull rotated back about 90 degrees making it line up with the thing the cable slids through.you will want to take this part of the stock manifold apart from the runners. t oget to stuff o nthe inside.the parts that came with the greddy intake manifold minus the tubes and hoses.you will want to remove the throttle cabel runner along wit the studs to put on the other manifold.it goes here.use a pair of pliers to thread studs into holes.

and thne bolt on throttle cable runner

this was as far as i got tonight. plus taking my transmission off and trying to get my mottor set up on my motor mount.

i will add more stuff about the vaccum hold and plug and the rest of the stuff to switch from the amnifolds later.

i do need some help with some of the insturctions and if soem one would translate the instructions for me that would be GREAT.

while you are in there you might as well bypass your coolant lines that run through the throttle body.

there is a writeup on it somewhere. but you either splice the water lines together with a union or remove one of them and connect the other to where the old one was. it is not hard to figure out.

i can't help you much, as i have a s14, but your just going to have to do what i did.

take a look at what needs to run where, and make it work. without that mentality you will never get it done.

when i installed my intake i had to rob a fitting from the oem manifold, modify the bracket that holds the throttle cable, and custom make a line to go from the IACV.

now, since yours is an s13 it will be different. but you get the idea. just think about it logically and get it done.
