i didnt want to go through the hassel. i mean i probalby could becasue i have so much stuff taken off. aka exhasut manifold, intake manifold. al lwires disconected. i figured i would just pull the head off and take it to the shop tomorrow and then next week put it back on. i know pullig the block would make it easier to change the flywheel and clutch, but i figure i will jsut do that under the car.

i should take and engine bay picture of it now, casue that one is super dirty. i pressure washed the engine bay and block. and repainted it black where it needed it. got rid of the rust. so it looks alot better.

Yeah... swapping out the flywheel and the clutch with the engine out of the car is uber easier but I guess its your call. All you really have to do is just unbolt the trans bolt (which you have to do anyways) and disconnect the engine mount and yank it out. Done in 30 mins haha.

Also with the engine out of the car, it will be much easier to clean both the engine and the engine bay.

Actually, Id recommend pulling out the trans with the engine as trying to slip the trans back onto the engine can be a PITA underneath the car.

So you are technically 6 bolts away from your engine + trans being out haha. 4 trans mount bolts and 2 engine mounts.

you think an Exedy Stage 2 clutch will hold up to the gt2871 .86's power. it says it is rated at 350lb torque and 400hp on the motor. casue i suppose i will order tommorrow. will an XACT flywheel work with the exedy clutch?

ok so i pulled my engine. and took my head off took me a totale of 5 hours, about 1.5 hrs of that was just setting everything up, to do it. moving stuff around in the shop setting up the cherry picker.

stuff i discovered :

1. Missing a bolt that conects the transmission to the block.2. the breather pipe from the transmission isnt connected to any thing and is just bent around at the end3. The coolant pipes under the intake manifold go around be hind the block and one tube isnt connect to anything therer, so i think it has been leaking fluid. i will probly just but a nipple.4. one of my exhaust manifold bolt was broken off. so we drilled and easy outted it.

Things i messed up pulling the motor.1. broke the oild sensor next to the oil filter2. tore the boot around the shifter3. had the spline pull out of the end of the transmission and got transmission fluid all over the shop floor. (which is gross no matter what way you take it) lol

pulling the head i think i messed up the timing, i didnt let the chain slip down. and all of the valve were shut. so i think i had it really close. but getting the cam gears of was a PITA

Sounds good. But just a little warning. It is really easy to get in over your head and screw a lot of stuff up fast when you start diving into things. Take your time and ask lots of questions.

And the breather pipe for the transmission shouldnt be connected to anything. It should just have a j-shaped piece of tube at the end that bolts to the top of the bell housing.

Keep up the good work.

OK now for my messupsthis sensor broke while loosening the ening mount bolthere is a close UP.ok here is the end of the transmission with the splines pulled out and the ripped boot around the stick shift

you have to remove the lifters to get the head cleaned.

Also, when you install them back in make sure you bleed them.

Forgetting to drain the trans fluid haha Ive done that before...

yea that was a major mess lol. now my head is at the machine shop. and i am starting to think about a clutch fly wheel combo, and am thinking about getting the greddy intake manifold. he greddy cold pipe and the hks hot pipe, cause i have my bov on my cold pipe right now, but i dont even know if my blow off valve will hold up to the pressure my turbo will make.

so here is what i am thinking about getting and exedy stage 2 clutch, will that be stonge enough for 400 whp. you think. i will be running the .86 gt2871r and what about fly wheel i was looking at XACT flywheel. i dont want to go super light cause i will be mostly drag racing and driving it on the wekeends and summer time.

i do want to know with the greddy intake manifold what stuff you have to change on the fuel rail and injectors and fpr?

that sensor i broke you guys know where i cna get a replace ment. and alls othat transmission bolt i need to get one of those. probly, maybe not cause it has worked fine.

bumping it. and anyone know about that sensor by the oild filter. the end tab broke off look at the pics up there ^^^^^^^^

oh and the transmission is missing a bolt that connects it to the block the hole is by the wire that goes back from the block to the transmission. in the picture of the block with the transmission. outta the car. its o nthe right side. by the blakc wire. there is another bolt within half an inch.

i never had any problems so maybe it isnt a big deal

OK DOKIE

so i got a part number for the OPS (oil pressure sender) it is 25240-89920

are all part numbers universal? like if i went to napa with this part number they would know what iwas talkign about.

oh and if it says (all s13) does that mean it is interchangeable between the use models and japaness even though they are differrent engines

car build looks good man. good to see more idaho guys building 240's. i think you should just call ACT and ask them what they think. thats what i did with my sr20. they suggested the street strip disc and extreme pp for me as i am at 500+whp.the clutch hasnt slipped once yet. i love it!

check out http://www.idahomotorsports.com if you get bored. good luck with the build. bring it to boise next year, and let me race it for you! give me 3 runs in it with slicks and i will better the best time it has had!!!!!!

yea i was trying to decided between a ACT or exedy clutch.

lol a bit cocky arnt ya i have one other friend that has a 240 he is building, here in idaho, he actually commented farther up, so i guess there are a few in moscow.

you give me soem slicks and i will let you have 3 runs. i am not that good at drag racing lol. so i am sure you could beat my best time. lol. hopefully be high 10's to low 11's that is the goal, while keeping it streetable.

well tonight i painted my engine bay, although i ran out of paint, which sucks, but i got it done except for a few spots. and one run. i might put a second coat on but i will have to see what it looks like in the morning.

i also took the oil pressure sensor out. so i can go to a dealer ship on friday and get a new one.

the guy that is working on my head does machine work part time , becasue work is slow in a small town like this, so he has to work on my head inbetween jobs. hopefully it will be done soon.

when it is i will order some new parts like intake manifold, and exhaust studs. and start putting stuff back together. in the mean time i am going get some hihg temp paint and start painting the valve cover, cas fuel filter, wiper silenoid, lower brace and some other things, i would paint my fuse boxes but the lid is where the thing is that tells me what fuse is what. i guess i could take a picture and then paint those to.

its a work in progress, should be nice when it is done.

sorry I didnt read the whole thread, but what are you using for fuel managment? I did notice you wanted to save some money so i would reccomend just going with a megasquirt. it only costs a few hundred and does a good job. that is what i am planning to use in my m30. I am sure Ilikemy240sx would have some good suggestions. but if you go with a full blown saem it is gonna run over $1k. just my $0.02
