No problem.

Just looking at them, they are far more braced in the side-to-side area than they are in the front-to-back area.

Front to back is basically the main loading that the seats would see with the passengers, with side to side being bracing for chassis flex and cornering and such. They just LOOK like they are bracing it.

Well, obviously with enough money, you can do anything. You'd be better off doing the 180 tails on the hatch, they are plug and play. And yes, you can do a kouki conversion on either a hatch or a coupe (although a zenki conversion looks good on a hatch as well).

I like this thread, it may help me! I have a 93 240sx hatch, and a friend out of state has some wheels that may fit my car. They are 16x7 +25 offset with 225/50/16 kumho tires. I need to know if the wheel/tire combo will work, or stick too far in or out and look stupid. If the tires are too big I could replace them, though they are a throw in.

I have stock arms with kyb gr2 struts and eibach sportline springs.

hey,

Just recently installed budget headers and down pipe. Noticed the gains, but exhaust don't sound right. I told mechanic it felt like a leak, after testing he said that its stainless steel (thinner) as source. Notice exhaust smell strongly from engine, noise is comparably louder.

I feel its a leak, any ideas? on how to fix this.

thanks

I have no idea what you meant by "stainless steel (thinner) as source), but the only way to fix a leak is to, for lack of a better word, FIX IT. Find out if it's a gasket, or if it's actually a crack in something. If it's a crack, it can be welded. If it's a gasket, take off the original, clean it up with some brake cleaner and a putty knife, and replace it.

You should be able to find any leaks in the system be feeling around any suspect areas while its idling.

If its a really really small leak, see if you can get a buddy to plug up the tail pipe with his hand for a few seconds at a time (you don't want to plug it up too long). That will increase the pressure in the system, and should make it easier to find a leak (it will also silence the sound from the back, so the sound from a leak will be more aparant).

Thinner aluminum as referred was due to exhaust set up being 4-2-1. Where it drop from 2-1 (due to thinner piping noise can resonate easily) still no explain for exhaust fumes. I felt around the manifold, no leaks...could be the erg valve? or the manifold is cheap

the EGR rarely leaks... but you're going to have to feel around a lot more than just the manifold. There are a lot of leak-prone areas in an exhaust system.

I've got a 1995 240 5 speed and the transmission went out. I'm looking at a transmission that came out of a 93 240. Will this directly bolt up?

No, it doesn't matter.

I was almost certain they did... are you sure you don't have one on your car?

Positive. There are the holes in the lower control arms where the connecting rods would go but....no sway bar.

Someone's removed it then. Pretty much all cars have rear sway bars. You ever hit 100 in a car without one? It's a pretty etchy feeling as you turn the wheel even the smallest notch. I've been in 2 cars that have spun out from them breaking.

All S13's came with rear sway bars, but not all S14's. I don't know why that was but I have heard it from others. I think a J30 sway bar will also work if you cant find a S13/4 one.

Yeah, I did a little hard searching last night and am seeing alot of people who don't have a rear sway bar. Something about the base models didnt get them for some reason.

But your saying that a J30 and S13 will fit the S14 with no problem?? Thanks everyone.

Hello I'm new to the 240/180 scene I have a 1989 240sx hatchback that is being rebuilt with pretty much no money. So I hope to find the information I need on here. I hope to put a CA18DET in it.

Without further adue my first question is, can you put the backseats of a coupe inside a hatch? [Same year.]

I am pretty sure they can be used. The J30 one does have an extra bump for dual exhaust, but other then that I think they are the same.

I think the bottoms are the same, but I think the tops are different. Do the coupe seats fold down.

And not to be a d!ck here, but you need to edit your signature. It is way to big, please do that or we will removed it.

Nah You weren't being a d!ck, wasn't sure if they were big or not I changed it up how do they look now?

My friend has a coupe that hes donating parts to my baby and im trying to full restore carpets seats etc. even doing alittle rewiring to the body wiring harness. So I might try later but I figure I see what others think.

Thats the ABS. Removing it is possible but will require the master cylinder and brake hardlines from a non abs car. I'm sure something electrical will need to be changed as well, but I don't know about that.
