Does the intake manifold need to be grounded? I'm trying to finish relocating my battery. The original negative terminal goes down to a bolt attached to the battery tray. On that same bolt is a ground cable going/coming to/from the bottom of the intake manifold.

I can obviously remove the original ground cable but can I also remove the cable going from the intake manifold to the battery tray?

So i have a 1993 240sx hatch. All gears but 1st and second have gone out in the automatic transmission. i was contemplating on selling the whole car as is, but i wanted to know how much it would cost for a used or rebuilt transmission manual preferably and the cost to install???

I've been having a weird issue with my headlights popping up yesterday. When I got of work and pressed the button to pop up my 90 hb the headlights would cut on but would not pop up. Almost couldn't drive home. After pressing the switch a few times they did a weird motion passenger up then down and driver side up then down and would not pop back up not at the same time. I managed to get the passenger to come up and down and had to manually do it with the moter adjustment now to get the driver side to come up. While doing that I could feel the driver side trying to catch like it was trying to work. When they are both up and I hit the head light switch and they both will pop down but once I hit the switch again only the passenger side comes up.

Yes you should keep as many grounds as you can.

you should be able to get a manual transmission and all other associated hardware (master cylinder, slave cylinder, pedals, lines) for about $500. Figure another $500 to have someone install it.

Make a separate thread about that.

Sparkplugs.com man. NICO sponsor that sells OEM O2 sensors. They usually run a NICO discount too. Check the advertiser specials forum.

Made a separate thread and the moderator shut me down ha ha read the sticky he directed me to give me some ideas but without a way to test for voltage won't be able to figure it out.

Hey everyone, Im new here, this is my first post, but Ive been on the site reading almost all day for the past week haha. I noticed this thread is a few years old, but it looks like its still alive so here it goes.... I recently bought a 1990 240sx fastback 5spd manual and wanted to know if you guys think paid too much or got a decent deal... What I do know about it...-It has a 1994 Ka24de with apx 90k mi-Tein coilovers and adjustable suspension-Silvia conversion kit w/ HIDs-Some 17" rims-Welded diff-Nismo steering wheel -Exhaust (dont know what kind or how many inches, Ill try to find out)-Some random CF hood.(edit)-I forgot it also has slotted rotors and some special nissan calipers (I forgot the name)And Im probably leaving a few things outNow it does not have a paint job, its a kind of black primer color that Ive seen other 240's with. It also does not have a/c. The guy took out the compressor. I have no idea why, make it a lil faster or something? And it had a cracked dash and small little cosmetic stuff like that needs fixed or replaced, but anyway Ill take some pics tomm and show you if you like. I paid $2900. So what do you think??

Sounds like a decent deal, but no one could really tell you without seeing the car in person, or at least some detailed pictures.

And what's a NICO steering wheel? lol

My first question is will the KA clutch fit into an SR transmission? (I could be wrong but I remembered hearing that its the same somewhere...) I plan on changing the master & slave as well as clutch/Pressure Plate/TO bearing/flywheel. But If the SR will need new parts then I will limited on the KA clutch upgrade. 2. Second I wanted to re-do my brakes, just OEM for now until I get some wheels to fit larger brakes. Maybe service the brake booster? and definitely change out the brake pads and lines. (front & back)3. I would really appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction for an LSD. I have never purchased an LSD before and so far I'm hearing $800? Isn't that kind of steep...What the difference between 1 way....1.5 way...and 2 way???4. This will be my most critical stage...the Chasis/suspension. I plan on reenforcing the chasis with front and rear strutbars...(please feel free to let me know what are better parts and their prices.) Bigger sways and bushings. Will take in other suggestions for Chasis upgrade. Where can I find aftermarket tie rods, steering components, and arms?? What should I do with my rear-end?? Any suggestions on suspension??5. Wheels will also be upgraded very soon...after the LSD. I plan on putting 18's, but will settle for something smaller is needed. What offsets do u recommend if I wanted to run something with a decent lip?? I don't really want spacers if possible, but Id like the rims to flush out with the body.

Thanks
infinty j30 rear ends are great change the cover out with yours and put in good gear oil and let it rip tatter chip.

How do I use the trip meter in a '91? I've never used an analog trip meter before, I don't have an owners manual, and I don't dare touch it for fear of resetting the odo

you can't reset the odometer. If you could, a lot of people would be doing it so they could sell their cars for way more money.

ok I'll have to do that when I get paid next Monday so hopefully it won't get worse

ok so I was doing some inspection of my relays and noticed the fuse box behind the battery doesn't have a relay for the headlight retraction relay #4 but is actually wired into a empty relay socket. I notice a lot of corrosion around the set up. I didn't do this set up came when I bought the car. First off why would someone wire it up this way in the first place. I don't have a camera to post a photo so maybe this pic will help. The socket for the retraction relay #4 is wired into the socket next to it thats empty http://img157.imageshack.us/i/relayboxgc1.jpg/

Who would pay 3K for a s13 chassis? CRAIGSLIST people you can find nice ones in the range of 300 to 1000 dollars and the 10,000 they spoke of did not include susp or interior wheels, tires, LSD fuel pump, FPR AND AT THE LEAST A 300Z OR R32 BRAKE CONV 400hp on stock brakes come on now. 400hp you will need guages boost and a/f wide band being best option ebay has a nice brand for $200 lotta tuners say great things about them. all in all yes 10,000 can build it but research first dont spend 3k on a body find a blown motor car save 2k easy j30 rear lsd at a u pull it junkyard less than $200 i get them her for 80 i have 4 of them every time i see 1 at the yard i pull it.

My question is, should that spring seat looking thing (2nd pic) be out like that? I mean it's easy to put in but it's like kinked at one spot.

Also, in the 3rd pic, inside the circled area, you can see the rubber gasket or o-ring or whatever it is, is cut in a specific pattern. Both hubs are like that but the original ones I pulled off the car aren't like that.

Lastly, when I place the hub onto the axle/spindle(?), there isn't enough room for the axle nut washer to be placed on. BUT, If I just take the inner and outer hub seats and put them on the axle, the washer has room to fit. So I'm guessing the seats should already be placed inside the hub?

Axle nut washer that i'm talking about:

Seats:

In the last pic, you can see how the washer sits flush. If I place those seats into the hub and put the hub on, it sticks further out and the washer cant sit flush. Shouldn't the seats come pressed in anyway??

Probably less likely to bust wheel studs, like so many 240 owners do.

Could be the crank handle spinning on the crank. Does it work if you apply axial pressure to it (AKA Push the window crank in towards the door and turn it?)
