first post here and totally psyched for my 95' 240 SE. I have a question. One of the things I will be investing in is a turbo kit with an intercooler. The thing is I'm also going to get a conversion, not sure which one, but I am. But the question is, should i put the intercooler on before I put the conversion kit on, or will I be able to take the new front bumper off to install the intercooler? I'm also getting the body work done at a professional shop because im not very confident in my body mod skills. Any help is very appreciated.

ok ur takeing stock bumper off then replacing with convo.... just do the intercooler at same time, less chance of something braking when taking it back off, plus saves u time. and also, u will see your car look and be meaner in one swoop.

I don't understand fully your question, but you need to take the front bumper off to put the front mount intercooler on anyways. Depending on what the heck bumper you use, you'll most likely need to do some cutting to make sure the piping and intercooler fits. It would be stupid to try to put a fmic with the bumper still attached.

1) one of the sponsors or a local jdm engine shop nearby.2) yes, but there are cheaper alternatives to the same rwhp goals. Greddy isn't the only aftermarket company in the world. do some research and look into other brands. and besides, I don't even think greddy has a turbo upgrade kit for the sr20...

Alright, so i have a 1993 240sx ka24de. i happily purchased the hks super power flow reloaded kit and installed it. i am happy with it, however i was wondering if i eventually decided to replace the filter and put back on the stock airbox. how much would this cost, and would it be difficult? installing the hks kit was fairly easy (besides instructions) but would it be easy to put the stock airbox on (i still have it)? REPLYS ASAP THANKS SO MUCH!

Hey guys. I'm new, and I don't have a 240SX yet.

However, I am concerned about finding one. I intend that this car be driving sideways once I learn and master the basics (hence why I want a 240SX). I have been having trouble buying a 240SX locally (I live in West Lafayette, IN). The cars that I have found within a 100 mile radius were rusted beyond belief, and the good ones are 1000+ miles away on eBay Motors.

So my questions are:

a ) Is eBay Motors a reliable place to find a 240SX?

b ) How can I get a car that is 1000 miles away to my doorstep? I am carless at the moment, so I really can't head anywhere too far to collect the vehicle.

c ) How much should a 240SX with SR20DET swapped in cost?

d) Is it better to get a 240SX with a Skyline engine (RB20DET or somesuch) swapped in or a SR20DET?

If you still have all the parts you took off then yes, it will be free and incredibly easy. If not, you will have to go to a junkyard or something, and it will be almost free and still incredibly easy.

1. Dunno I've never looked into lips, someone els should help you out. Do a search for Xenon Lip. There are a couple theads about that in the 240 section.

2. Warped rotors or unbalanced wheels is what you should look at first.

3. Dunno, try doing a search and see what you come up with, or wait until someone els answers.

A) As far as I know, its pretty good. I haven't heard of anyone getting burned.

B) You would have to ask the seller that. Ship it, or fly out there and drive it back. This is pretty common sense.

C) depends on if you are looking for a beat up S13 or an awesome S14. It also depends on the supporting mods it carries. Figure $4000-20K

D) Complete preference. What is better, apples or peaches?

A) --> B) How long would it take then? I don't wanna wait some ridiculous time to get the vehicle. I'm also in college, so I really don't have the time to fly out and drive it back.

C) I'm looking for an S14. A clean S14 that I can mod to my pleasures.

D) I meant like...., in terms of potential horsepower.

a ) yes and no. There are scammers out there, take that into consideration.

b ) finding a shipping company that can do it for you. Not too sure on that, you should make some phonecalls to local towing companies.

c ) if you're paying more than $3,000 for an engine + swap, you're paying too much.

d ) rb20 vs. sr20... eh, not very much difference imo in potential power. rb26 however can hold like 900+rwhp on stock internals.

1) oem chuki lips should cost about like 30 bucks from the junkyard. if you want aftermarket, do what papasmurf told you, search xenon. although, there are tons of other names as well. pdm-racing also makes a lip for them. Aftermarket lip prices vary, but they range around the $250 range, so be prepared to pay that much.

2) like papasmurf said, check rotors, get them turned. also get an alignment if needed.

3) yes, they suck, unless you're okay with crappy ride quality.

im not sure wat section to post in, so ill post here cuz there seems to be alot of helpful traffic.

okay so i just ordered the 3" brm exhaust with a cat and a 18"res. as of now i curently have a basic KA stock setup, and in the near future will be performing a sr swap. the exhaust i have now is a rediculously loud apexi exhaust, and i want it off asap. but my question/concearn is, will it be worth it to throw on the new brm exhaust until i get the swap done (3-4 months later)... basicly i dont know if theres any concearns to be worried about by using the exhaust with the stock engine, than when it comes time to do the swap.... will i run into any problems or (ruin) the exhaust by hookin it up to the stock motor for a few months b4 the swap is done sorry for the noobie question and any advice or opinion is much appriciated thanks all

do whatever suits you... Ideally 3" exhausts are for turbo aplications, but it wouldnt hurt to put it on an n/a, it'll just be louder...

and no, there shouldn't be any problems when swapping motors. I do however recommend getting a 3" downpipe and divided turbo elbow to accompany your 3" exhaust when you do swap to turbo.

I'd like to nominate Adrian for a moderator position.

BTW Adrian...I have a question for you. KA-T or SR? Which one do you like better? I can't make up my mind...they both seem really good for drifting.

Please help me out ASAP. I have a bunch of other questions that have to be answered.

I think u can have ppl inspect the car for you if its too far away. never tried it tho. and then you can arrange for a shipment by hiring a shipping serice. C-skip. I heard that skyline engines are pretty heavy for the car and sr20 swaps are much more common.

they're done for... if I were you, I'd go to like autozone or something... I remembered I payed like $20 for some universal trunk shocks for my old 89 integra I had...

same model... I'm pretty sure the part number for both listed are the same, the only reason why they listed a 1st 240sx is because the 1991-1994 is the convertable, while the regular 240sx (s13) ended in 1993. Either model spring you get should work.

Skypad, you might want to look into getting new dampers as well. Of course, after you add all that up, its pretty much worth it to spend the extra couple bucks and just get coilovers. Then again, I'm kindof an "all or nothing" type of guy.

And about the mods: In reality, I don't really think this site needs any more mods, it is run well enough as it is. Like I said, I'd probably just browse the mod forum and lend a hand when needed, which would be seldom.

stock shocks aren't made to handle lowering springs. Eventually they'll blow. That goes the same for any other oem replacement shocks (i.e. monroe). You'd have to buy aftermarket shocks meant to handle lowering springs (i.e. kyb or something).

and yes, I agree completely with papasmurf....coilovers > spring/ shock combo

yes they will. Unlike z brakes, the pistons are on the inside of the caliper. Clearance should be similar to that of stock brakes.
