The aspect ratios could net slightly different heights, so it might not be an illusion. The larger wheels (whether larger in diameter, or width) should always be in the back unless you are trying for some kind of crazy drift setup... Definately switch them

Hey everyone..

Not so much a noob to the oh so beautiful 240 but a noob to the forums. I previously owned a 91 hatch, fell in love with drifting and the car itself but had to sell it to move.

None the less, I just became the proud owner of a beautiful pearl blue (kinda looks purple but oh well) 96 240sx base model. It's completely stock, with under 100,000 miles, and the previous owner was a retired school teacher who babied it. I can't wait to go to work just to drive the damn thing..

I'm in the process of bringing it up to par for modifications now. Just cleaned the headlights, replaced the pads, got lucky and came across a wrecked 240 and pulled the lsd, etc. etc. etc.

Anyway, on to my question. I've got an irractic idle problem. It does fine until you place a load on the engine at idle.. (like turning the headlights on). The rpm drops, compensates, then becomes erratic. 600rpms.. 1100rpms.. 800rpms.. 1200rpms.. back to 600rpms. It continues like this until you tap the throttle and it evens out. I'm thinking the idle air control valve? is that what it's called? I've got a few years in auto tech under my belt so i can do the work, but I've been out of school for years and spend my days as a pc technician so I'm definately rusty to say this least.

Thanks for the helpJake

Another question, if I'm missing screws from the interior what would be the best way to get new screws? A pick and pull junkyard or are there like screw sets that Nissan or someone else sells?

bad ground? also placing a load on an engine tends to do that, it happened in my old 240 coupe. Somone else can elaborate.

Those are not rotas... They're actual volk te-37's you can tell by the color of the bronze, as well as a few other things I don't care to go into too much detail about.

secondly.

cliffs : car has jdm turn signals, was a zenki to kouki conversion and now I cannot fit the socket plugs for the turn signals into the bumper lenses so I dont have turn signals in the front currently. HELP

-------------------------ok so I bought this car last friday and thought that the kid had ricer signals hooked up because the blinker was going off all fast.

Turns out my front turn signals are not hooked up at all, but yet I have these fancy knock off clear turn signals (notice the irony in that statement) on the front of the car.

After getting under the car and looking around I saw that the signal lights were zip tied to the fiberglass fenders for whatever reason I still dont understand.

So I went to walmart to pick up some new bulbs, got them to fit and tested them and they're all fine and dandy and i'm ready to join the world of people who have front turn signals again.

Then to my dismay I found that the light bulb sockets wont fit in these bumper lenses, they're too big.

I bet if I was using the usdm kouki bumper signals they would fit just fine.

So my question is, since I obviously have to change the sockets the bulbs go into, does anyone have any idea what nissan part numbers I would look for as I have had little to no luck searching on nico, zilvia, socal240sx, fresh alloy, google, etc.

trust me... theyre rota grids. If you think they're real TE37s, then Rota did a good job at what they do best, lol.

lol... I saw you post on Zilvia..

umm.. I dont know the part number off the top of my head, but you should be able to go to you Nissan Dealership and request it.

Reason why yours wont fit, its cuz you still have the zenki wire harness on a kouki front, lol.

I'm changing the front pads on my 95, so I ordered a front brake hardware kit from nissan. It came with the pad retainers, shims and two packets of gold gel with metallic flakes in it. Is the gold gel the stuff that goes in between the pad and shim that keeps it from making noise? Also in the FSM it shows PBC grease being put on the pad retainers, do I need to put this grease on the retainers? Sorry about these stupid questions, but this is the first time I've ever changed brake pads and I want to do everything the right way. Thanks

If you can fit into an s13 you can fit into an s14. The s14 has more interior room then the s13.

more interior room and more headroom are different. I actually had more headroom in my 13 than my 14 even though it was bigger.

I wonder why people wonder whether or not they'll fit in production cars. You don't think Nissan made sure that anyone could fit in the car before they started selling them?

Being tall does have it's disadvantages, but luckily I haven't had a problem fitting into cars yet. I hope I don't grow those two more inches.

Where the inches are is what matters. Sitting down I have a low profle. I'm 6 ft but I'm all legs so getting my knees under the steering wheel is where my problem usually is. My upper half is average.

I get one or the other depending on the car, just examples are an Audi TT my legs press the steering wheel, but in my friends camaro my hair brushes the ceiling, gets kind of annoying. Oh well, not much I can do about it but shop around for different cars, haha

I've had this zenki s14 for a while and I am falling in love with the kouki front ends....*sigh*anyways, I have a molded bodykit and was wondering how hard of a job this would really be to to do (link to my car: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2884426 ) for reference1)What would I need to replace to get everything looking right?2) Also, could I just simply get better headlights without replacing my hood, etc.3) My CF hood's clearcot is shot and it's looking bad, how can I fix this? Thanks.

Forgot to mention, I'm 6'3" and I fit into my s14 pretty well. I have my seat all the way back though, so forget about trying to fit well with somebody behind you.

hey guys, I'm 18 right now I'm driving my dads 98 ford ranger...(BUILT FORD TOUGH) its the 4cyl manual one probably like 90hp but anyway..he told me I can sell it if I want to get a new car. We got it from this guy w. 70k now it has 85k miles. I think I can get at least 5000 from it. Kelly blue book says 5.8k.

My two questions are, I have driven nissan before 91 maxima I loved, pathfinder I have I alwas like nissan so.

1. Should I feel bad selling a nice perfect truck i was given to buy a 240sx.2. If I do buy it, I hear a s14 would be a thousand more to buy just because its a s14. Like a 94s13 for 2k a 95s14 would be 3k is this true?

Should I post a picture of me to see which car you think I'd be better in? Lol jk, but I like coupes so if I went s13 I'd try to get coupe. What u think?

(I need to get better grades in my college so I won't feel bad trying to make a hobby in cars rather than computers. I feel I shouldn't have a hobby until I get As.

ThaiRacer- it the bulb size should be in the owner's manuel, but if u don't have one just take the bulb out and with u to the auto parts store

Here's my dealio. I recently replaced a few wheel studs on the rear driver side (s14 zenki base). I had a little trouble just taking off the brake caliper so i hammered it a little to take it off the rotor. I am let the bleeder loose to let some fluid out. When i was putting the caliper back on the rotor i had to depress the cylinder to make enough room. After driving the car, my e-brake felt weaker. It still holds the car but it doesn't stop the car like it used to. Now when i am drifting and using the e-brake i have to pull that shyt up real high to lock the wheels. I already loosened the adjusting nut on the e brake and pumped the brakes and then tightened the nut back up, and that made it feel better for a few pulls of the e-brake until i heard a small snap and back to the normal weak e-brake and having to pull the shyt out of it to drift with. What do u guys thinkThanks fellas
