Yup, I just checked and as of right now, GA averages the 3rd highest price in the country at $4.239 for regular. It's only beaten by HI at $4.441 and AK at $4.510. DE is the cheapest at $3.472.

By city, Knoxville is the highest right now, averaging $4.785 for regular. Official NICO Post Whore must be in pain.

Not quite as bad as GA though. Here's the states ranked in order with prices:

There is really no benefit to cars that new, unless you are getting factory warranty. I would suggest looking at 04 - 05s, then you will be buying in after the majority of value depreciation has happened. You will pay less for a better vehicle, plus you should still be able to find very low mileage.

If your criteria is 4 door, fun to drive, and economical, you have plenty of options.

I liked the Impreza option, the WRXs are very economical, and a blast to drive, insurance isnt too bad, and if you go 04-05 you get the revised transmission, but you dont have the bugs of the new chassis. In my experience, the reliability of these cars is actually much better than talked about.

The new maxima's are great fun to drive. They are roomy, powerful, and super comfortable, but Ive seen a few bothersome reliability issues like the wheel bearings, and emissions related CELs. I must say though, everyone Ive driven, has made me want one, I get wait to get behind the wheel of a new 4DSC Max.

Have you looked into Acura's at all? For what you are looking for, a TL would be a great ride, I have fun every chance I get to drive one. The seats are excellent, and the 3.2 has a hell of a punch. Reliability on these things is exceptional.

What about the Mazda 3 or 6? I know they are kind of quarky looking, but they handle darn well, and the comfort for the price is definitely there. And if you are feeling lucky, there is always the Mazdaspeed options.

2004 to 2008 was the last gen, the 4DSC car is new for 2009.

As far as sporty/luxury/economy cars go, Acura has the market cornered, almost as much fun as a BMW without the maintenance bill. If they built a RWD acura, I would be all over it.

parties are not supposed to end because the sun is going down. and acceptable music for dancing must not be from as far back as 2001. your general store shouldn't contain all your grocery needs, video selections, take-out pizza requirements, and postal facility under the same roof. don't run out of paved road, and please don't have packs of creepy dogs waiting on side of unpaved road to chase my car. it's really creepy and i don't appreciate that.
