The only real thing that the PS2 has over Xbox is GT4. Otherwise, you got to get the Xbox. Same games, better graphics, better processor and other computer crap too. You get used to the control and you can always buy an aftermarket control for it that you like better. Xbox live is the greatest gaming invention ever as well. So, those are my thoughts.

we also forgot to add that xbox has custom soundtracks. put in any of your favorite CDs and burn them onto the hard drive. this is a good thing when the songs that come with the game get extremly annoying after listening to then about 300 times.

You woudn't get PS2 just for GT4...

THere are so many classics, and good games for PS2. There would be no mistake in buying it. FPS...Racing...RPG...War Games... so many classics for so many genres

PS2 has inferior hardware because its older, not because it is a less quality product. The screen shots from GT4 look just as impressive than anything I have seen on Xbox, and it is said to operate with no slow down or chop. And if you have ever seen final fantasy X you would disagree that Xbox is way better graphically.

I say go to the nearest game store and test out games for different systems, get a feel for the controlers and make a decision based on which has your favorit games and is the most fun for you to play.

My favorit game for Gamecube (a system you should concider) is the revised version of the origional Resident Evil, this game is flat out scary and a blast to play. It also has lots of fun multiplayer games previously mentioned.

its not a mistake to get a PS2, its just a mistake to get a PS2 when u could buy an xbox! :) well, i have xbox, all my friends have xbox, it seems like you play the same types of games as i do, and i like the xbox. both systems have there pros and cons. you'll have fun with either one of them.

Well as far as any of the GT games, it's just not the same as the real thing. I prefer to take my car to the race track. I do enjoy the occassional heads-up challenge with a friend where we just go lap after lap trying to catch each other. It's even more fun when both of you suck at the game.

I bought XBOX for Halo and only Halo. I got Amped only because it was free under some promotion. I almost considered getting a game cube for Zelda, but found the game play wasn't as great as the N64 version. I can wait for that.

PC games in general have been far better in my experience. Speed, graphics, versatility. Plus in FPS games, it uses a mouse and keyboard as opposed to two thumbsticks that are annoyingly slow. Just as an example, I can zero in on a target on Halo PC a lot faster than I can on XBox. Especially running into an open area from a hallway while having to quikly check both sides for enemies.

Not to mention, CounterStrike: Condition Zero is supposed to be released at the end of this month. It's reported to have AI so good that even HALO can't hold a candle. And the AI in HALO is pretty damned good. Can't wait....

Name 5 PS2 games that are absolutely amazing that the xbox doesn't have. I don't really think you can.

The xbox has halo, they have project gotham 2, sega gt online, etc. etc.

The ps2 has the gt series and the final fantasy series.

IMO, PC sucks for sports games and racing games, but owns for FPS's.

Ok, you named only 3 games for xbox (etc is not a game to my knowledge ;) ), and 2 series' for ps2. That seems to favor PS2 if you ask me.

Anyway... Xbox does have better graphics and some cool games, but PS2 has Gran Turismo (the primary reason I bought mine) and FF as everyone mentioned. Xbox wins the FPS game hands down, I would never play an FPS on PS2. The racing market is tight seeing as Xbox has a few good games while PS2 has Gran Turismo and not much of anything else... then again Gran Turismo beats out the sum of all Xbox racing games.

Anyway, if I you want FPS you get a computer, RPGs you have to go PS2. Racing you could survive off of Xbox until GT4 comes out, then you'll wish you had a PS2. If you want an FPS/racing combo then I'd go Xbox, simply because of the games that are currently out for it. If you can hold out till GT4 then go PS2, but it won't be out for a while and Xbox will keep you more than happy until then.

Here I go:

Final Fantasy 7,8,10,X-2, 11(march 2004) 7 and 8 are for ps1, but PS2 is reverse compatible. I'll count those together as 1;)

Manhunt (look it up)

GT series, 1, 2, 3, and soon number 4 (ultimate racing game) and it will be online.

Socom navy seals, 1 and 2, both online tactical shooters

Kingdom Hearts, disney + final fantasy, its very different, but overall its a really great game. Plus, #2 is coming out soon

Only 4 series, but more than enough games

There are no games that are EXCLUSIVE to xbox that truely standout. Sure, there are some games that are on xbox, and are great. But, they aren't exclusive to that system. I guess you could say that GTA and 2 FF games aren't exclusive to PS2, but there are no benefits to playing them on pc over the PS2. Unlike many of the xbox/pc games.

You will regret getting an xbox... I did

One more thing:

Quote »The xbox has halo, they have project gotham 2, sega gt online, etc. etc.[/quote]

You only named 3 xbox games, while you named 2 PS2 SERIES, which consist of multiple very good games...

Another one more thing, Xbox live cost $$$ online ps2 is FREE!!! yay

But they are coming out with a PS2.5. Its basically a PS2 with tons of crap added on to it. Things like harddrive, broadband adapters, etc

Dude READ before saying retarded stuff. the PSX is NOT a PS2.5. It isnt even being marketed as a gaming system. Xbox does not offer Tivo style recording with massive HDD space for one. And you STILL cant sae your games on the PSX if I am not mistaken. I am a HARDCORE gamer so I say get at minimum a PS2 and Xbox. That is my problem. My PS2 is my Final Fantasy, GT3 system. Xbox is everything else. If I HAD to pick one...it would be an Xbox for the simple fact that NO system is worth 1 game. I dont care how good GT3 or 4 is, it isnt worth buying a PS2 unless that PS2 is 99.99 or less. Xbox has the more open ended RPG's I like, for example Morrowind and the upcoming Fable. Final Fantasy doesnt even compare to the depth of these games. Also FPS own me. Halo, Halo 2, Unreal, Ghost recon, Counterstrike, Rainbow Six. Owns just about ANY shooter/military game on PS2. Socom is great but Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six are equally as good. Depends on what games you want. 98% of my time playing is spent on XBox Live. And playing Madden. I love being able to save creeated players, replays, created teams, rosters, etc and not have to worry about getting another memory card. My PS2 collects so much dust, it wont even play...not to mention that I am going on my 3rd PS2. Sony is too cheap to give me a newer one...they keep repairing the broken crap. Xbox owns me plain and simple. Besides Final Fantasy and GT, I wouldnt even own a PS2. And the DVD quality is 100% better on Xbox. Sure you have ot buy the 20 kit, but damn a nice remote and the ability to choose how fast you want to fast forward or rewind the racks (x1.5, x5, x10, 20, x30 or somethign liek that). Plus when I watch DVD's on ym PS2, it has the tendency to resort to being a old *** kung fu movie. Seems liek my movies are poorly dubbed over. Overall, I thik the Xbox is a better quality purchase. Especially since you get 2 free games and 2 months free of Xbox live if you have BB

Oh and to the guy that said PS2 online is FREE, think again. While XBox DOES charge 5.99 a month, that is for ALL games. Take it or leave it. Game developers who make PS2 online games are free to make their own charges. Final Fantays 11 will cost 10 bucks a month. Just because Socom 1 and 2 are free, doesnt mean the service is. Resident Evil online is rumored to be subscription too. I am glad Xbox Live cost money and is restrictive on who can play (56K vs BB). Xbox live is an oerall bette onlien experience and I would hate to be playing online to have a host with a ****ty connection

"Final Fantays 11" is a MMORPG, its a new genre of games. 99% of games in that genre have subscriptions. So you can't single it out for having a subscription. READ before saying retarded stuff.

Anyway, why not just buy a new PC, it can do everything a console can, plus like 4 billion other things! Screw this console crap...

LOL....okay I just fed off what you said. PS2 online service is NOT completely free. And I CAN single it out for not being free because.....gasp....it is played on PS2 ONLINE. MMORPG or not, you have to pay a fee. I would be surprised if online for the PS2 continues to be free, when massive amounts of money can be made off subscriptions. Sony has a crappy at best online plan. Trust me, you dont want to debate video games with me. I have been playing longer than probably you have been alive. I would be more than open to debate it offline though. My AIM is in my profile

furthermore, MOrrowind DOES have a main quest that can be followed without sidetracking. Same thign as a Final Fantasy game and side quest

cuz a nice PC that will have a decent proccessor, monitor, and graphics card will run you near $2k. thats over 10 times the amount of a xbox and consoles are better for having friends playing along. also my PCs tend to get viruses and such which get really annoying. it seems that alot of you with PS2 are supporting FF series. im glad i got the xbox then cuz i dont like those sort of games. im into racing and FPS games, so ive got gotham 1, gotham 2, ghost recon, and ghost recon:island thunder, halo, fusion frenzy, sega gt 2002, moto gp, unreal championship, and a few other games. almost all those games are xbox exclusives and i didnt buy them because of them being exclusives, i bought them cuz theyre fun.

If Microsoft supported a MMORPG on Xbox not only would you have your regular monthy fee but a additional monthly fee for the game. MMORPG's cannot be provided free of charge or included in the regular fee with the ammount of bandwidth and service they require. TONS of games are played on the internet FOR FREE, its not just a playstation thing, Xmonopoly is the only consol i know of that charges a monthly fee for the right to use its modem you already bought.

Great PS2 exclusives:-all of the Final Fantasy games-Ratchet and clank-GT series-Onimusha 1 & 2-Socom 2

All of which will NEVER be ported to other systems like all of Xbox's "exclusives" have (with exception of a few FF games being released on PC/Mac).

Maybe i just dont like Mircosoft's stratagy of buying out companies that are in the process of making good games for PC's/PS2 (Halo for example) and forcing the company to make it only for their consol and their PC operating system.

I dont think any of us can sit here and say what would happen. Last rumor I heard about PSO was that Sega wanted to charge their own fees. MS said no, either go with XBox live or dont go at all...THUS the game is on GC. And every game you listed has an equal or better product on Xbox except maybe GT. I dont thinkanyone will come close to that game anytime soon. Besides that, Xbox has something that matches up with the games you listed. I am surprised Onimusha 2 isnt on Xbox yet considering Onimusha 1 was tweaked a bit and released as Genma Onimusha on Xbox. And last reason you said about MS buying companies. EVERYONE does it. XBox/MS get the most publicity from it because of their reputation as being a monopoly and the drawn out court battle. Squaresoft is someone I would say was inadvertently bought. Sony bought a 20% interest in the company back when the Final fantasy movie bombed, making it the single largest shareholder in the company. So you dont think they will "sway" square/enix releases. This may have changed with the Square/enix merger but........Point being everyone does it. I used to be a Sony fanboy until I smelled the coffee. I dont think you can go wrong with either system. For every exclusive that PS2 has, a decent and/or superior matchup can be made on Xbox
