No not at all bucksnort. you still have 500 miles to go before your mileage will increase. After my first trip to Ohio with my Versa I got 280 miles out of the full tank. But after my second trip to Ohio I got 375 miles out of a tank. If you don't see any improvement in the next 2500 miles then you might want to get worried.

When you go from a gas guzzler to this sipper, its wonderful. The first tankfull from the dealer (which prob wasn't topped completely off) I got 18MPG. The 2nd tank it was 24mpg. This last one was 29mpg. I drive city mostly with some hops on the interstate.

My previous vehicle only got 11 - 13mpg and the fillups were $65 - $70 dollars once every 7 - 9 days. Now I am at $27 - 33 for fillups in the same amount of time.

I only have 860 miles on my versa, and its snowy winter here so I expect to get even better MPG in the spring.

Sorry about your gas mileage for everyone else.

Had my V for little over a year now, right at 34k. pretty consistantly 30mpg (28-32)

I love this car. Ever since I first saw one I wanted it. I needed a Gas saver to replace my Z as a DD, and this V is the perfect fit. (no pun intended)

With gas being $3.19/Gal at last fill...I'd say 30mpg is a BIG improvment over the 16-18 the Z gets.

With the summer blend now in pumps and the weather warming up, it's definitely making a difference. My last thousand miles are already up to 32.5, and it'll only get better as the truly good weather comes.

Looking at posters on this forum, it really looks like the Versa likes warmer weather. I know that was true with my previous cars, but there didn't seem to be such a large swing from winter to summer with them as I've seen with the Versa.

Great! Now all I need is some warmer weather.

I know that the furry little groundhog stuck his head out of his burrow last month, but I think he's now buried in snow and won't find his way out for another couple of months!

fwiw, we are 33 cm [13 inches] away from an all-time record for the amount of snow during a winter . . . and some people here are hoping we make it! I'm about sick of it myself. My dog now travels from yard to yard in the neighbourhood . . . simply walking over the "fences".

Cumon, warmth!

I'm getting 34 mpg on highway driving and around 20 mpg in the city (really heavy traffic and HUGE traffic jams). I'm not complaining so far, although I'm not pushing the pedal too hard. I rarely go over 75 mph or over 3,500 rpms.

knocked over 4 mpg off of the mileage I got across flat southern New Mexico(35.7 at 75 mph). I discovered first hand that this vehicle with CVT is perfect for 45 mph steady driving without signals as I got over 40 mpg down highway 98 in Florida.]

Srell, exactly my point. I ive in Pensacola and do lots of traveling on Hwy98 and other roads like it 40+ mpg is easy if these are the type roads that you travel. I'm a real estate agent and so i do lots of different driving.

My average over three fill us is 38.7 mpg. I drive sensibly without having people swear at me.

I have to believe that those of you who are having serious problems with bad mpg on the versa need to do what I suggested. Rent, beg, borrow another one to see if you have the same results with that one ...if you dobn't and I suspect you won't raise holy hell with the dealer giving him the proof of your mileage in another car.

If this is impossible to get your handson a V then rent soemthing ... anything so that you can prove to yourself that it's not your driving and there is something wrong with the engine.

I believe anoyone getting 20mpg or less in this car has an engine that is not asemebled properly and is not develping the hp it should.

Just wondering how do the people without a gauge calculate their miles. Do you guys just see how many gallons u put in and clear your odometer n then divide or is there another way?

Miles driven/ Gallons of gas used=MPG

It is best to log over a period of several fill-ups due to different pumps allowing a different stop point to "full". Reset your tripometer and log your mileage. There are some useful online resources to help log and calculate mileage.

I log all of my gas use on my cars with a simple small notebook and pen. Still can't get my wife to do this for the V on a regular basis, but I hope to change that....

Give up -- fill the car every time yourself -- it'll save you grief -- it did me!

I have to separate business and personal mileage -- have for 15 years -- still can't get her to record when she drives! Not worth the hastle, so I do it.

20-25mpg most of the time for me. I only live 3 miles from work. on a really cold 10F morning, the blue light finally turns off as a climb a 200' hill 1/2 mile from my parking lot at work. The speed limit is 25mph most of hte way. There are 2 stoplights, and 8 stop signs. I roll through half the stop signs at 5mph in 2nd gear. I make both traffic lights about 1/3 of the time. It's moderately hilly. I get to 30-35 mph and can use 5th gear sometimes, otherwise it's about 27mph in 4th for most of the streets. At one point I reach 40mph for a 1/4 mile.

On freeway trips I get around 30mpg.

[bump]

I think I must be doing something wrong.

Preliminary indications suggest 7.25 l/100 km; 39 IMP MPG; 32.5 US MPG on last (highway) tank).

We'll see . . .

The first tank, the dealer put in, was 30.5. At 2500 mi, every tank has been over 34 except one and it was 33.8. Very happy with the mpg of this car.

Gas in the Dallas area is approaching $3.55/gallon. As a result my wife decided to turn off the A/C the past 2 tanks, and guess what? Around town, the V mileage jumped from 29 - 30 mpg to 32+, a 7% increase.

if in not mistaken, 7L/100km is not 20-21 mpg. If you convert it it gives you 33.6 mpg which i consider good eficiency. I'm from T.O soi have to convert mine ..avarage 8L/100km...gives around 28.6-29.4mpg.

With 5,000 miles on the odometer, and almost a perfect 50/50 mix of city and highway driving, I'm averaging 30.02 MPG. 4919 total miles divided by 163.847 gallons of 87 octane fuel = 30.02 MPG. EPA estimates...city 27 MPG, Highway 33 MPG. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones getting the MPG we are supposed to be getting. I wish I was getting 40 MPG, though.

I have noticed that wind and hilly driving really reduces MPG. More so than any other car I've ever owned. I love the smooth CVT transmission. When I drive my wife's Quest, I now think her van's drivetrain is going to fall out every time it shifts. No shift shock in the CVT whatsoever.

I notice the same negative effect from winds on our V with the CVT. I think Nissan should have put in the 2 ltr engine from the Sentra and given the V a little more grunt on hills and head winds.

Probably get about the same MPG's too, with the RPM's down a few hundred rev's on the highway.

For some reason my V gets the best mpg's on Chevron regular grade gas.

I will have my Scangauge installed this month and that will end a lot of my speculation about the Versa's mpg's.

I had the "air flow sensor" replaced and it seems to do around 8.5l/100 km which is better than the 10.5 it was doing. Still no where near the 6.5 or whatever Nissan was claiming.... That is all 100% highway at 90 km/hr. Just like a granny.

"There and back" . . . about 1,000k (620 mi).

7.25L/100km = 39 MPG Imp = 32.4 MPG US

Mostly happy about this.

No A/C; 118 km/hr [= 73 mph]

Now . . . let's see what a week of in-twon driving does.

But the sour taste of the winter's mileage is being wiped away.

THANKS! Works like a charm. Looks like I get 8.65 l/100km or 32.65 MPG. Not ideal...

Could low gas mileage be due to cold weather. In the manual it says that before the engine reches normal operating temp, overdrive is off, which will hurt gas mileage? I'm definately getting ~5 mpg better now that it's gotten significantly warmer over here.

Cold weather and perhaps worse driving conditions. Here's my latest mileage graph, where you can definitely see the effect of two winters and now coming into its second summer. About a 3mpg difference, here.

There is Imperial MPG and US MPG, the Imperial MPG is about 10-15% higher than the US MPG typically.

I'm getting about 8L/100KM, which is about 29MPG US, or 35MPG Imperial. I do about 70% city/ 30% highway

I am consistently getting 7.1L/100km (40mpImpg) combined. Pretty happy with that so far.

Pulled up beside a lady parking her new Toyota Corolla today at the grocery store and got chatting about MPG's...she just did a milage check on her Corolla and got 47 mpg.....

she was hopping mad about that, saying the Toyota window sticker said she should be getting 50!

I was stunned into silence on that one...but she did say my V' looked "classy" and much more "sporty" than her Toyota.

'Regular' Gas in Alberta, is now the ecquivalent of $4.75 U.S. gal

Update...Gas in Alberta is now $5.03 a U.S. Gal...(may 8-08)
