I started learning in a drop 350z. I thought i new how until I bought my 240. I got mad when i would stall on hills so i parked the 240 for about 6 months, almost forgot about it. I then started driving it again in summer and killed the clutch. Then I get a spec stage 2 and practiced on that some more. I feel like it took me about 2 years to actually learn how to drive stick right.

I drove my dad's CRX once for about 10 minutes and his clutch was full of fail the whole time. So when I got my 240 it needed gas one day and my dad was like you're driving. So, I basically taught myself. Lol I tried to teach my friend yesterday and she pretty much epic failed at it lol.

me and my best friend had tried to take out his grandpops stickshift beamer... lol we were 12 or 13 at the time., didnt have a clue how to do it, and couldnt pull it out. a little bit later, we discovered a neighbor was leaving the keys in their miata. so ofcourse i learned how to drive stick while stealing my 1st car

but dont worry. it was just joy riding, i always put it back... hehe

i had a blast though. driving a stick shift miata was like driving a ferrari when your that young, and the only other driving experience youve had was stealing your moms minivan...

I learned on the Accord I own now, I was about 15 and my dad took me to a parking lot and told me to have at it. I got it after the second time. Last Saturday I took my ex to the same lot and taught her.

read about it, watched videos... then hopped in a car and did it. Granted it wasnt perfect at first but Couple of shifts later got the hang of it.

I took one for a test drive in one at a dealership when I was younger and bought it so I had to learn so I could drive my car home. Also when I was a kid I use t shift for my parents while I sat in the passenger seat.

i just learned the beginning of the year in my first car (240).Youtube and my cousin were my teachers lol.

when we bought the car, i had to drive it back home (35 miles) because my cuz didn't have a license.... i was so frickin scared, and stalled a few times.

that was a few months ago, now i got a better feel for it, practicing down-shfting was mandatory for me because i need new brakes badly...

Learned at first on my dad Suzuki Sidekick at 17. And got more into it in 1999 with my first car, a Dodge Colt 1987 clean as hell. You know you enjoy driving a stick when you get to drive an automatic and you feel totally bored.

So very true! My left foot and right hand get restless if I drive an automatic.

I learned about 4 years ago when I bought my 2nd 240. My dad gave me a 2 hour lession and let me loose. I didn't drive it again for a week and then my DD 240 broke down and I HAD to drive the MT 30 miles to work!!! On a Major highway (I-40) in morning traffic while it was Poring down rain!!! Bumper to bumper traffic which was barely moving. Yeah that was an experience, but I didn't even stall out. I was scared sh*tless though Love it now!

Downloaded a guide on the internet, went and bought a 93' Ford Probe SE 5-Speed, took me about a week to get used to it. I didn't shift past 3 gear until after 3 days. After 2 weeks, I didn't even have to think about it while driving.

gramps on my mom's side taught me in a S-10 in Ohio on all the hills. made me stop on a hill and take off, made me drive through this old cemetary on what looked like a golfcart path that winded throughout.

stopping on the hills was the scariest.. i've owned 9 cars and the only one that was auto was a full size pickup truck and i sold it with in a month of buying it b/c it was not a 5sp sports car.

Youtube tutorial I park face out cause i have a fear of reversing and not being able to stop in time when some assjacket tries to swerve around me. Florida is known for that lol.

Lol its funny cause its illegal to park face out in florida but the cops don't enforce it, and the clutch on mustangs is hella hard. I drove a 94 and I had to like smash on it to get it completely down.

i never learned per se, I more had intuition as to how to shift and all from watching people drive on tv, as well as spending the first 12 years of my life on a dirt oval my family ran. I remember riding in the back of my family's astro van when I was 12ish using a plastic pole from a paddle(inflatable boat beach toy thingy) and shifting in sync with the transmission of the van. Driving a standard was essentially second nature to me, mind you i wasn't that good at it at first, but i knew how to do it.
