I learned stick on a 93 VW Fox my dad put me on a San Fransisco'ish inclined hill and told me to keep the car stable with the clutch. Once I got that down the rest was a cake walk. the damn incline looked like this: /

i learned in a riced out 96 eclipse, which was pretty cool because it was back in the fast in the furious days. lolthen got a little better in a 96 teggy.and then decided to buy my 95 s14.kinda difficult at first because i would forget to downshift at the lights and i would stall out tryin to take off in 4 or 5.

Lol its funny cause its illegal to park face out in florida but the cops don't enforce it, and the clutch on mustangs is hella hard. I drove a 94 and I had to like smash on it to get it completely down.

In my mom's corolla, i press the brake with left foot, unconsciously thinking it's the clutch(cause you depress the clutch to start the 240). My mom always laughs at me for doing that...

I love the stories keep this going, fun to read...

My stepdad tried to teach me drunk in my newly purchased 1991 Toyota Celica GT. I think he hindered more than he helped.

my first legit car was a 2001 nissan frontier XE, base model.

meaning, KA24de, manual everything.

before it was mine, i wanted to drive it since it was a manual. ive never liked auto transmissions, so my mom took me out for a week or two and let me practice stuff. it was all pretty wack until the last couple days i was getting the hang of it.

since then ive become a pro clutch and shifter, ive taught over 10 other people how to drive a manual, and i am not afraid to toot my own horn about being awesome at it.

but yeah, all thanks to my mom, believe it or not. and its funny because shes not even good at it, she just told me the basics and let me practice a bunch.

my dad put my old 95 dodge Dakota on my driveway (quite an incline) and told me to get up the hill, then back down, then drive back up. he went inside while I practiced, I've drove a manual ever since and haven't missed a beat.

I sorta understood the concept from riding four wheelers as a kid...last year I got a job doing valet parking. I told my boss I knew how to drive stick but that it had been along time since I drove one...He then puts me in a brand new Porsche Cayman S to see how I did. I was nervous learning in such a pricey new car but I got the hang of it quick. Soon after I bought me a 86' mk2 Celica Supra 5spd sold it for a two forty . I try to level out the rpm's but to this day I still get nervous on hills.

You could say I learned on a 4 wheeler, but my first time driving a manual car was sorta trial by fire. I drove my first car home having never driven a standard car before. Its a weird feeling going from wheelers and dirtbikes to a car that has 2500 lbs behind the clutch.

My friend's brand new '07 Doge Ram 1500 pickup.Only stalled it 2 or 3 times but got the hang of it after that. The brakes were so touchy compared to the Ford Escort I'm used to driving.

I learned the basics of shifting when I was 14 in my brothers n/a 300zx. I only stalled that once. Now my brother has a TT 300zx which I learned to have smoother shifts and what not. I have yet to stall this 300 yet.

I learned how to drive stick with my first 240 92 fastback i went into a used car lot and i drove off in it. I learned really fast after stalling after every stop light until Igot home. took me about a good days worth of driving to relly get it down right. But thats not to bad considering there was no one there to teach me.

i learned on a 96 mustang gt. the owner was this chick that worked with me. she told me that the only thing i need it to know was the first gear. after that it was all good. i was there for half an hour then she gave me a crazy drive down the parking lot and told me i was done. never will i forget that day!
