I learned when I was 14 years old in my stepmoms Toyota Celica. I felt like such a badass, and I actually learned to drive a stick before I ever drove an autotragic...i always thought that was weird.

Yea, they say its harder to learn to drive manual if you go from an automatic. I'm a pretty quick learner the only thing I need practice on is knowing when to downshift and not putting it into neutral when I'm like 100 yards from the stoplight lol

my brother taught me when i was 13 in his, now mine, Mazda MX-6. i only killed that car once after about a week of driving it. then the 240 i only stalled once when i did and accidental 360 in the rain. i just taught this girl how to drive a few days ago, she didnt kill it but freaked out trying to go into second. i had to have her pull over and show her how to do it the right way

I learned in my dads FJ40 before he sold it, best vehicle to learn how to drive a manual as you could drop the clutch in second gear with out giving it gas and it would still move along. I never stalled when learning in it.

my pops bought me a '90 Chevy berretta GT with the 135HP V6 and a stick for a first car, and he said "here learn on this!" I thought it was a great sports coupe, untill I got my 95 legend coupe stick then quickly changed my mind on the chevy (what a POS it was). That was 15 years ago. Now I look back and think I should of got that 90 Civic Si instead of the berretta, my best freind got a 90 240 SE, and I made fun of him 'cause I could beat him in the chevy, now I have a 240 .... ok sorry thats it

haha, we just purchased the 240 lat July and my dad goes, "alright, it's yours, now drive it home." while throwing me the keys. lol I drove it home without stalling or anything.

Right now I'm teaching my girlfriend stick on it. She's doing pretty good, and I can't wait untill she gets her liscense, becasue that passenger seat is pretty comfy, and she likes to drive. lol.

Which one. For me it would ether be car AKA 4wheeler or truck AKA 18wheeler.CAR: on my dad's 1997 Chevy S10, was curious to drive a manual, basically it was natural 4 me. Let's face it I was born to drive a stick

TRUCK: on my dad's 2001 Volvo VNL660, basically my dad forced me to drive other wise we would of have been stuck in a middle of nowhere. He just went to the sleeper and laid down. It was me against a 78000lbs truck and 10spd YES not 5 not 6 but 10spd. Driving it on freeway was a different story. Now I drag race cars of off traffic lights when I bobtail (tractor with out trailer), it's so funny because most people dont expect the truck to lunch so fast from the line. I kind of cheat because I lunch from 4th gear.

That's how I earned my wings .

I had some illegal other encounters with manual trans a farm tractor at age of 7 and motorcycle at age of 9, when I was in Poland.

Gr8 subject, good choice. Wow you should like write a book or something, or what ever they said in FandF in that one scene.

lol man i do that every so often when i drive a friends' auto. luckily theres never anyone behind me when it happens. i lmao when i read that cuz i can relate.but i learned to drive a stick with my dads 2000 ford focus in the cemetary down the block from my house. every since then i've been in love with manual cars and never want to own an auto.

I learned in an old *** pickup truck. Worst moment was when i was on this damn hill with a Vette behind me , i just pushed the clutched in and revved the hell out of the motor just so i knew i wouldnt drift back when the light turned green. Spun the **** out of the tires and prolly through pebbles on the Vette anyway.

Then, my second time ever driving a stick I was in a toyota tercel where you actually had to give some gas while lifting the clutch.... so I get stuck at a stoplight on my first hill and you know the rest of the story....the tires were spinning as I screeeeched up the hill! hahaha
