Anyway... The Turbonetics GTK series are awesome turbos but WAY out of my price range.

Holset is a good turbo on the cheap and very reliable.

The HY35 has a smaller compressor which spools quick but still capable of 500whp pretty easy. Plus it's in my price range.

Question: Walbro 255 HP is gonna be enough?

From my previous knowledge it should be able to handle 1000cc injectors.

A walbro 255 is good for 500 and 1000cc injectors are good for a very conservative 750 horse at 80% duty cycle. I would personally want a double pump setup or a fail safe system if I was making that much power. With the HY35 I made 386 at 22psi on a rom tune with a Super AFC.

Do you think you'll need 1000cc injectors? Or was that just a number you're using as an example?

There are tons of turbo choices under $700 that perform really well. They may not be as efficient, but we're talking small percentages and not over the entire map. The BB Cartidge allows for quicker spool, but only by a few hundred rpm.

Those things aren't enough to convince me to spend another $700 to $1000 for just the turbo. Given the same budget I'll take a standard T3/TO4E and with the left over money I'll buy alcohol injection AND nitrous. The turbo is only part of the equation, tuning and all the related support pieces make a larger difference and are usually the ones least considered.

Take for instance the 530@17psi. Sure as hell wasn't done with a SAFC or off the shelf rom tune. To make that much power you are relying heavily on the methanol and ramped up ignition and the ability to tune it precisely. Almost anyone can make 350-400 horse power, thats just adding fuel and boost. You can't help but make power. But making more then 12hp per psi of boost means you're doing more then just adding boost. In fact, to make 530 at 17psi you're making 20hp per psi of boost. Thats double the usual average. There is a hell of alot more involved with that then the turbo selection

I edited this thread, no more crapping in here. If you have an issue, Brianatnicoclubdotcom

I'm in total agreement, which is why i spent far more on tuning than turbo.

I know the turbo I bought can make the power.. the injectors I got (850s, not 1000s) can handle the fuel requirements... so it's going to come down to tuning.

The stock compression is IMO going to have a good chance of detonation, so i am looking at WMI as well. I won't buy it in the pre-build stage. I'm going to wait to get to the dyno and if the knock sensor is going nuts then I'll back it down and do a quick street tune... Buy a Snow Performance kit and go back for the track tune.

Dude, before you buy any WMI stuff, get with me. I know of some FAR better controllers then the POS that Snow uses...far better. Think tuneability and datalogging with all kinds of bells and whistles for under $300. In fact, it's so good I think it may be able to control all of the extra fuel required to make enough power to bend rods. All while leaving in the stock injectors.

Not that I would, just using that as an example.

^^^ those are pretty sweet but i hear that they are like a second or 2 delayed. that would bug me but they defiantly give accurate readings.

the 850cc injectors are perfect which ones did you go with? i went with the 850's from pe very satisfied with them.

The GT3 is no joke though.

We have a Nico Fantasy league that some of us Mods play, just a free ESPN league though. Side bets etc, but nothing more then a case of good beer costs. Playing for money makes it less fun IMO.

I agree the GT3 is no joke but I could not be talked out of buying the GTR if I was in that class of financial status.

For starters let me say that I use to have a turbo built ABA Golf... loved it. BUT... the R32 is not worth the money at all...imo

Something about a V6... wait... are you talking R32 VW or R32 Skyline? lol...

Pshhh... You all have to be crazy.

Granted they are not fast BUT I had a friend with a built 20v 1.8T putting down around 450 whp running 11s.

That's pretty nice.

For a DD, I honestly think I'd prefer to drive a VW GTI instead of a 350z.

yikes.... out come the guns.

Ok I can laugh even at my own expense.I would give drivetrain to 350z but styling? Fun??? Have you never been in a GTI man?

I would much rather drive it for fun... maybe even track.

Torque steer goes without saying but I am not a fan of FWD... which is why I think those things are positive for the 350z.

I think if I was looking for a 2 seater I'd boost a S2000. I've done the Miata thing, very fun. But the S2000 has a few more inches in the leg room area. A boosted S2K would make a very fun daily driver.

from what I hear that is about the extent you would want to push an s2k. A guy out here has one and had nothing but complaints about the f***ing thing. And its not just some guy... its a respected kat guy....534whp rings a bell

Really? Hmm...Honda makes a pretty reliable platform for the most part. The S2K's motor is famous for the power per liter it makes.

Meh...I am not in the market for a 2 seater.

I was actually dreaming of a boosted Vert Infiniti M30...in black, gold BBS wheels

the only time I have ever seen an m30 period was a gunmetal blue ish vert, in a junk yard... oh man he was telling me all kinds of s***, the most memorable was the upper arm mount separating from the friggin chassis couple other things I cannot recall off hand.
