people have hit 330 with 12psi and an fmu, with timing retard and no water injection..... very doable.
I didn't say it wasn't doable, I said your motor will blow up.FMU's are very tricky, they run a consistent rate which adds a lot of stress on your fuel pump. In my opinion an FMU is just not a safe setup, if it works for YOU then awesome. I just prefer to avoid blowing my motor up, so I recommend doing it RIGHT the first time. I mean, why skimp out on the most important aspect of a modified engine?

its clear you dont have a clue...

this has been safer than the tuned ecu I was using, that blew my motor up....(bad warm up timing)

I am not gonna continue this argument, if you dont like fmu's dont use them, however that does not make them unsafe. Obviously you would not run 20 psi on an fmu setup, well we will see when wd does it

Big news on the home front peeps...

A particular investment I was going to make might be falling through so some of the money I had on 'lock down' in my budget just freed up.

There is a decent chance I might purchase everything else needed to get this car on the dyno this month.

Of course this reverses what I originally planned: Doing chassis work over the winter and dyno work in March.

So instead we might go ahead and see some very stout dyno sheets getting posted soon.

In fact this may be a good thing when you think about it ... because if I roll a bearing or bend a rod this will give me a chance to replace it all and make my runs on a new oem spec motor.

Now I would like to see my 150K motor make the run just as much as anyone but either way:::::::::::::

ARE YOU READY TO RUMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SARD 850cc purchasedFMIC and piping purchased

I have still not FULLY decided on the turbo/manifold setup. I am almost about to convince myself to go with a twin scroll setup still. I know I know I know... It's overkill BUT since the block isn't being cracked open I need to free up as much power as possible.

I am also looking at welding up my own custom intake with parts from Ross Machine Racing. I did this with my VW years ago...

Pretty much buy all the stuff from them and weld it to the OEM plenum, cut depending on the length/harmonics you need.

Anyway... this week the other thing I will be buying is the Competition Stage 5 Clutch... I think I'll be going 4 puck unsprung. This is probably the most aggressive non-twin disk setup you can run. So it will hold anything I throw at it.

After that, I think I'll hold off on buying a turbo/mani setup until I am fully decided.

So I think THEN I will turn my attention to the smaller stuff like bushings, traction arms and I think I might even give a shot at a few custom odds and ends to stiffen the rear chassis/drivetrain.

if you have a few extra bucks the GT-K550 is pretty nasty for drag. that what i have. made 530 whp on 17 psi with 93 octane. exhaust housing is .63 a/r so it spools up pretty quick. hit full boost at around 3200

I'm not sure... it's possible it's BS, but that is a sweet turbo.

I suppose with preload you could hit 17 psi by 3200 but that's impressive... maybe Nitrous?

no nitrous. meth kicks in at around 15psi it spikes to around 20psi cause of my small a** wastegate. you can call it bs if you want... no one wants to listen to me cause i have like 10 posts... full boost kicks in so low cause the exhaust housing is so small.

You said you made 530 on 17psi of boost...on 93 octane. That eludes to you making a ton of power with no knock on 93 octane. THEN you say you ran methanol. Meth will allow unlimited boost and no knock, so that makes a huge difference, especially since you can run more static compression as well as timing to reach 530. Pretty big difference dude...

Should I just believe everything I read on the internet? I don't know you and 530whp with just 17psi requires perfect tuning. This is the internet, expect to be called out.

So you'll have to excuse me if I don't believe everything I read these days.

you have to think we have heard it all, I recall a guy saying something about 400ftlbs and under 200 whp. lol

I hit a 360 once, no one would believe it if I didnt have it on vid simple as posting a dyno, I know you have one.

Awsome man...pics or ban though. Seriously

I've been seeing some sweet deals on Holsets lately and may just snag one myself. I'll have to swap flanges on my manifold, but I can run a turbo that will spool before 5k...lol.

Pretty sure the pics comment was for the other guy but if not... pics soon enough.

I can't say forsure but I can't 'really' start putting this all in until I buy another vehicle (which will be a Jeep XJ... sold my YJ to buy this S14) I mean I tend to believe if I took a long weekend I could have this done in 4 days. I have 3 day weekends as it is, so one extra day would probably cover the tuning (1 day for the turbo, 2 days to wire up the MAP sensor, Wideband, EMS, etc...)
