oh I know drag radials will, I just re-read that and see where it's confusing. That was my bad with the sentence structure, I meant that in the sense that any tire that isn't an r compound or isn't a drag radial will not hold the car; not that a drag radial won't.

it's true, I really did have a set of heads! Got them back! Big props to Ladds Porting in Elkridge MD, and Jim Hornsby!

The specs: Major port work, knife edged both intake/exhaust runners, 5 angle intake cut, radius'd exhaust cut, bowl work, ground spark plug boss, decked, .5mm over sized black nitride intake valves, .5mm over sized inconel exhaust valves, dual valve springs, ti retainers, ti seats/locaters, ti retainer clips.

They do exist! Need to order new head gaskets since the f*** head in NJ still has them also, then it starts going together. Might be selling the AMS manifolds for MS ones so I don't have to modify for the intake housing on the drivers side manifold.

Ill take some non-cell phone pics later and put them up.

The car itself should be back this weekend from the rack install, then I'll start shaving and painting the engine bay. To many un-used holes

whats the difference between the AMS manifolds and the MSP ones? They look almost identical ;\

btw the ams ones are 495 on AMS's site.

well big debatable issue with flow blah blah, but basically the MS were re-cast to be able to fit these turbos, the AMS do not. I either would need to get a spacer for the turbo to clearn, or just go with MS manifolds. I might just do the spacer and longer studs, but not sure yet.

That's the beauty of NICO, all of us "poor folks" that can't afford or justify a monster Z still get to live a little through guys like Gino and TG, guys who have the cars of our dreams and drive them.Oh, and best of all tell us all about them...

Looking forward to seeing this all start to come together Gino!!!

MS is better built than the AMS manifold. MS most likely wont crack. the AMS will probably crack with the power gino will be producing. maybe not right away but eventually the AMS will give in. also MS has better flow.

thats highly debatable. AMS manifolds have been used on many hi-hp (over 700hp) cars with no issues at all. They are very robust and have had no cracking issues. Thats the thing, the controversy between AMS and MS manifolds is basically all speculation with people just choosing which they want to support then saying whatever they want about the other (not saying you're doing that, just saying on either side there is no evidence to support any talk from anyone). To me, it's a simple matter of simplifying assembly or tweaking stuff on one side.

Anyways, as promised, here are the better pics!

Shows the bowl work/ground spark plug boss

exhaust ports

intake ports

you can see they shaped the ports VERY nicely flowing with everything, and a major improvement over stock (ill take some pics of a stock head for comparison).

well finally got everything. My new headgaskets showed up monday, my Brett Dempsey engineering low profile motor mounts and ATI crank pulley showed up wednesday, so started tossing things back together. I have the heads on but not bolted down, I want to get bigger washers for the ARP studs. The provided washers are actually smaller in diameter than the stock washers- I want to get larger washers to help disperse the load better. Would like to take no risks on this motor lol. Once I get the new washers I'll be mocking everything up (Turbos, etc) and doing what I need to do! The car should be back (from the steering rack install) early next week hopefully then I'll be able to really set things up..I'll take better pics tomorrow when I'm back home:

ATI race damper

BDE low profile motor mounts

Cometic headgaskets with ARP studs

The heads are currently on but not bolted down, no pics of that yet. Hopefully I can get some washers tomorrow morning

don't mind the gold oil pump. I painted it just to see what it would look like and ended up wiping half of it off. It's not visible once the front of the motor is assembled anyways.

Just for reference for the heads, this is what stock heads look like:

once i get the new head washers I'll start mocking everything up

rebuilding the lifters as we speak (letting them soak right now in degreaser), once I get the head washers and get the heads bolted down the lifters and cams will be put in, then everything else goes on.

taking apart is the easy one lol all you really need is a 10mm, 12mm, and a 14mm lol (plus a 27 for the crank bolt) *and obviously other various small hand tools i.e. screw driver etc*

stock lifters still in decent shape. The car will get driven to much to deal with solid lifters lol i mean I am considering it, but most likely not. Its to much of a PITA to adjust every so often. We will see the initial dyno-where the power starts to fall off will tell me where I will set my redline, which will tell me if it's worth the hassle of solid lifters or not.

TG's motor would also do that, but this is Gino's engine you've been reading about here...

But it does raise the interesting thought of what would occur should Gino and TG's wicked Z's square off some day, somehow!

well basically I'm just waiting on the head stud washers then once theyre bolted down I will be clocking the turbos, making the brackets for the wastegates, and then doing all the lines (coolant/oil all custom braided with -AN fittings). The clutch is on the way so next up, drive shaft and radiator..then tune! As soon as someone can fnd me the washers I need i'll have more pics..and the shop has been very behind so they should be completing my steering rack soon so I can start the shaving/painting in the bay. Pics will be soon!

Well...my clutch is on a 3 week back order, ONE of the parts needed to build the clutch is unavailable ATM. Damn triple discs.

But on the plus side, stock head washers should be here tomorrow, which means I FINALLY get to start putting it together!
