The summer after i got my license i was driving an 84 Honda accord that was rusted beyond repair. Sitting in the parking lot about 200 feet away from any store fighting with my girlfriend. I drove up here to do it because at the time my parents didn't want to give me privacy. So i was there for about 20 minutes and cops show up saying that shoe carnival (some weird store i didn't even know existed.) thought i was going to rob them. He asked where my friend was and when he was coming back. And at the time my passenger seat was out and in the back seats because i was cleaning it. So there was nowhere for anyone to sit. And i told him this. He asked for my license and i didn't have it on me. He let me go but warned me "Not to stop and talk on the phone in parking lots" Now 2 years later. Its illegal to drive and talk on phones in Colorado....

Got pulled over for "tag lights out".

They were just dirty from the crap they put on the roads. Cop still gave me a fix-it ticket even tho I got out and cleaned them off in front of him.

I'm taking this idiot to court.

Sadly I've found the best way to avoid hassle is by driving something, anything, with a BMW Emblem on it. Not sure if it would work on a rebadged 240 but if the Bimmer is in half decent shape and looks nice it seems you're good to go.

I'm sure the same applies to Mercedes, Porsche, etc. but I don't have first hand experience there.

For example I called the police once because the truck in front of me had shingles falling off of its trailer and bouncing all over the place. I didn't notice because he was driving slow and when I went to pass him a big shingle caught my passenger side fender and then knocked the mirror off. I signaled for him to pull over 5 or 6 times to no avail so I called 911 and dodged shingles from about 50 yards behind him. Not hard in an e36 on coilovers when you know they're coming.

DPS gets there and pulls him over and I pull over behind them. The DPS guy seemed a little ticked because I'd been talking with the dispatcher for about 20 minutes relaying my position and complaining about all the shingles flying at me and how the guy wouldn't pull over. The trooper gets his info and such while I sit there watching. He runs the license and talks to the guy for about 5-10 minutes lecturing him on who knows what when 2 more DPS vehicles show up along with 2 local cops. At this point my curiosity is really getting piqued and the get the trucks driver out of the cab. Then they break out tape measures and start measuring everything imaginable on the trailer. Looking for every violation imaginable.

Finally a trooper comes to my car so I can show him the damage and such and then the trooper gives me the guys insurance info and lets me know the guy had an outstanding warrant or two. Then he offers to right up a few little things that were already wrong with my car as damage from the shingles. I didn't let him since it was just a kidney grill and a fog light cover.

Funny part of the story? While they poke all around his vehicle for anything wrong my BMW that was behind them had to be breaking at least 6 different laws. They tell me they don't need me for anything else and before I can leave the cops are all complimenting my cars (very illegal) exhaust.

The only reason why the cops admitted to liking your car is because you turned in a scum bag and made their job easy.

Ive had a few A hole cops and a few nice cops, especially considering what I used to do in parking lots. Deleware,OH hates me and my friends. Its awesome.

wow this thread is pure evidence of power abuse by local law enforcement. i dont understand why they always have a chip on their shoulder like everyone is a felon.

i have a few to ad too

1) pulled over in a project car because the license plate was out (i had a temp in the rear window)

2) next day got pulled over because a cop couldnt see my temp tag then i pointed out it was right where it should be and he got pissed and told me to put my temp slip in my license plate bracket right then and there i told him no its snowing it will get ruined and stolen he wrote me a ticket of course.

3) i was driving from socal back to colorado and i was going 79-80 in a 75 and got stopped in iron county utah. the police told me they see cars like mine alot speeding through utah running drugs. the cuffed me brought in a k-9 unit tore my car up like nobodys business and found a bag for a crown royal bottle i used to hold bolts (i worked at a pub thats why i had it) well they wrote me a ticket for tobbacco possesion and drained my battery with the dome light i asked them to give me a jump and flatly said no and sped off WTF!

lol... this thread is full of fail... (on the law's part)... i have a couple to add too. i've only ever been pulled over twice.

okay. 1) driving my aunt's miata, the left headlight motor is kinda broken so when i hit a bump in an intersection the light fell down (didn't go out, just fell down) and the cop pulled me over saying my headlight was out but i pointed out the fact that you could still see light there and he let me go pull it back up in a parkinglot nearby... cool...

2) when i had my S14 (when it was perfectly legal) i had a cop follow me for about 2 miles on the way to my friend's house, i pull into their neighborhood and he follows me, i make all the twisty turns on the way there and he's still following me. i pull onto my friend's dead end street and the cop keeps going. there was no parking so i go to park back on the street i was on, and the cop had made a u-turn to go out of the neighborhood. he saw me come back onto the street and obviously thought i was using it as a getaway route because i only had time to get one leg out of the car before he busts out on his intercom speaker thing telling me to stay in the car. he asked me for my info and started asking me everything about why the car had a bar going through the window, if it was street legal, etc. etc. and when he realized i didn't have anything wrong he mentioned my front plate being absent and let me go...

now my favorite one was a state sheriff that followed me for 10MILES!!!!! (in socal that's a LONG way) for those of you who know the area. he followed me from westminster all the way to santa ana. on freeways and streets. he came charging up on me like he was gonna PIT me but he never even turned his lights on. just followed me on my a** until we got on the freeway, he then fell back. only to get rightonmyass again so i brake checked him to let him know he's too close. he backs off and gets rightonmyass AGAIN... so i brake check him again.. HARD... he backs off. finally my exit is coming up and i get over to the right lane. he pulls up next to me and gives me the most evil stare i've ever seen anyone stare and i just did the whole face as huge as i could and flipped him off as i got off. he gave me a thumbs up and sped off as i got on the offramp... made me wonder why cops follow 240s so much... i didn't have anything on the car worth getting a ticket over except my buddy club spec II exhaust at the time which actually wasn't that loud, so... yea... maybe i'm just crazy but i think cops dont like S14s that are on the floor? but driving perfect ftw every time. no reason to get pulled over = no ticket

i got pulled over today for suspision to drag race. ok check this out i was on my way to take my wife lunch and this guy in a s2k pulls up and looks at me and gives me a big grin and looks at the light. being me i shake my head in his despair i know i could eat his car alive. so theres no point for me to get excited and race him. so i pull off in a normal average pace. a cop comes storming on my a** like hes about to rear end me. so i go ahead and pull over like always i found out its better to just get it over with haha.. so i get out my info and give it to him and he goes on to explain that in his eyes i was going to race the guy. i tell him no. he gets a big chest and says my exhaust is to i loud etc. etc. so he lets me go i catch up to the s2k and i figure if i was under suspision i mine as well give em a little. i roast his a** and guess what the s2k gets pulled over 10 seconds later feels so good to see a honda go down!!

Lol, Ive brake checked a cop before following too close. I even got on my PA before and told a few people to stop tailgating, and one turned out to be a cop...

He looked at me funny, then I had a wanna be gangster pull out his fingers and try doing a "drive-by" with his fingers. I had my gun on me, which I dont think he would have liked had he had a real gun...

ok, you kno how the pigg lip has that metal flabby support for it, well mine fell and was held on by 1 screw, i got pulled over cause the cop thought it was the exhaust scrappin, i looked under the car and saw the flabby support, i told him to look and he refused and gave me the ticket for exhaust scrapping, it happened 3 hours from my house, so i said f*** it and paid the 75 dollar ticket.

Actually that's not the first time. I've actually been pulled over for real reasons and had the cop check the car out. One even thanked me for not running because he knew he would have never caught me. No tickets in that car.

A year ago i got pulled over by a officer in his unmarked Lincoln Navigator for speeding.

I had stopped after work to pick my sister up and drop her off at school (i work 3rd.) I noticed a guy pulled behind me and got out, and walked up. He asked for my license and registration. I said sure soon as you show me your badge. He lifted his shirt to show of his badge and told me i was speeding and not using my signals to turn. Then proceeded to tell me a uniformed officer. About 10 min later the uniformed officer showed up. the officer who was not in uniform walked up and gave me a ticket for speeding and nod not using my signals.

Well 15 days later i showed up for my court case. He went on his spiel about being a 17 year vet and he "paced me" to determine my speed. He had mentioned he had not used his lights to pull me over and that he was not in uniform. So i asked him why it took him over 5 miles before he had pulled me over and he replied "i didn't have the legal right to do so." Then i asked him to state again if he was in his unmarked car, "yes." I asked him if he was in uniform, "no." the i said "As a 17 year vet are you aware of article XXXXX (i dont remember the number right ff my head) requires you to either be in full uniform or clearly marked law enforcement vehicle to issue a citation." He sunk his head and said "yes." I then asked him if it was his signature on the citation and summons in question, and of course he said "yes." Then i asked him if he had the legal right to issue the citation and summons for the proceeding, "no." then i said "no further questions."

The best part is the judge had a beet red face that matched the officers face. Then the Judge told him him "MY CHAMBER NOW." Then he looked at me and said "your free to go all charges are dismissed."

It was int he top 10 best days of my life

Alright, my friend got pulled over today for "Down shifting too hard." Im not really sure what that means, and I dont really care. haha. But that made me think, I wonder what other ridiculous reasons people have gotten pulled over or gotten tickets for. So lets hear them!!

I work at walmart nights and went home for lunch on night(2am) . On the way back..on a really foggy night ..small two lane road..two lights pull up on my bumper . I go about five blocks with it right on my bumper ..going 30 in a 35..then I slow to let him go around if he wants. He slows down too. Another five or six blocks like this then I speed back up to 35 to get some space between us. He speeds up ..right back on my bumper.I give three brake pumps to tell him he's too close especially in fog. No reaction. Slow down once more to let him pass...still doesn't. I get back to 30 ..he catches up and I give a moderately hard pump of the brake to tell whoever it is I'm tired of the tailgating. Lights flip on. He pulls me for driving erratically. I notice a big stain on the front of his khaki pants though...The last tap made him spill his coffee on his lap.

I explained that I didn't know it was a cop and he WAS tailgating and I had given him a chance to pass. Runs the license and calls backup..The other cop sees the stain and he is stifling a laugh. I don't get a ticket though he says he could have given me one for wreckless driving. I still think it was one of those "3 am nothing to do stops" and if I took it to court he would have been embarrased...

Before I had my 240 (and my license) I used to fart around in my go kart all the time which was a legit track kart with a yz125 in it. I drove it to an unfinished housing development and proceeded to hone my drifting skills haha, when a cop pulls up and gets out of his car. At this point I was scared for my life cuz I was 13 at the time and I was sliding a go kart around with no supervision. The cop stares at me for a second and says "you know you could get in a lot of trouble for this" I said but... and he said "but lemme take it for a spin and we'll call it even" Coolest cop ever...

i might hold the record for stupid pullovers.. ok maybe not but i have alot of them

First off i live in a small town in missouri, small town cops must get bored.( I drove a 1991 honda civic sedan (first car, all stock except a small sound system).

1) I worked at a golf course in a private community, i was on the road to the golf course, and i was pulled over by one of their useless cops, and i was given a warning for tresspassing, even after presenting the little tag that says i can be out there, stupid.

2)I was pulled over for turning around basically. What happened was, i got to a stop sign, couldn't remember which way i was supposed to go, so i went straight, after driving about 100 yards i realized i should have went left, i pulled into a church parking lot, and turned around in the lot, not on the street. I then pulled back onto the road and went the way i came from. All of a sudden i see lights flashing and i'm pulled over. Apparently a cop was at the next cross street and he said i turned around because i saw him and had something to hide. After that i was searched by the drug dogs, and since the dog "hit" on my car (i have never possessed or done drugs in my life.) This was a total bogus hit, the dog had been failing to work well with the officer the whole time, he had to practically force the dog to check the car. In the end after about an hour, i got nothing, no ticket at all.

3) I was pulled over in my own driveway. I was bringing a few friends back from a friends house at about 1am. Their cars were at my house, except for one, who i was taking to their house. As soon as i got into town, a cop began following me, he followed me all through town until i pulled into my driveway. When i pulled in, i only put my front wheels in the driveway, and the back 2 were just on the edge, very much out of the way of the road. I did this so my friends could get out and get in their cars, then i would just back out and take my other friend home. Well the cop blocks me in, blocking the whole road, flips on his lights and proceeds to tell me "you need to learn how to park" then of course continually asks if we've been drinking etc. this lasts until my dad walks outside, and proceeds to tell the cop that his is my house, and i can park how i please.

4)My friends and I were going to play a joke on a friend of ours, we were going to ding dong ditch him or something, anyway, we parked on the edge of his subdivision next to the mail boxes, but we had to pee, so we went behind the mail boxes (this place is out of town). Well someone came to check their mail. so we just hid back there. Then we decided to bail and just left quick. We got pulled over at the gas station in town later, while we were getting gas. The cop talked to us for a while then left without any success. Later a sign was posted in that community and a write up was in the local paper. I have a pic of it somewhere but it was all wrong it said: "Big river hills residents watch out, 4 men were apprehended by officer (whoever) on berry road after being caught by resident A, for casing the mail house."There were 3 of us, we were not on berry road, we were at the gas station, we were already getting gas, and the station is not on or close to berry road. and we were not casing the mail house, oh and also we were not aprehended.

ive been pulled over 4 times since i got my junior license when i was 17, im going to be 19 in march..the first time..me being stupid i was lost and found my way to the expressway..however when i was trying to call my dad as i was pulling onto the expressway i cut off a cop..they thought i had drugs on me..but no ticket

the second time i was cruising down the road with my buddy and we were sorta kinda racing..and of course his car was faster..so i get pulled over..but no ticket

the third time i was pulled over on my way to work..the cop pulled me over because i had this reflection tint on my car(it was on the car when i bought it which was only a couple months prior) and i was dropping my dog off at the do groomer...so of course she was barking and the cop wrote me a ticket..$90, im fighting it on feb. 3rd, wish me luck lol

then the last and final time up to this date was a couple months ago, i was doing 37 in a school zone of 20mph, seeing how i just graduated high school in 09 im not used to driving during school hours..this was less than 2 weeks from the last time i was pulled over for the window tint..and i hadn't taken it off yet so i had to roll down my passenger window so the cop wouldn't see it, of course he thoguht i was hiding drugs..but he let me go..so no ticket

A dumb reason is this:

In my 92 hatch i was cruising at the speed limit. a group of hondas were racing way behind me on a 2 laned main rd. They all pass me (i was in the left lane with my friend in his 240 inthe other lane... we tried to block them from passing so the cops ahead would get them (known speedtrap/hangout))

So they all pass us, group of 7-9 in the center median. Now mind you that im not speeding and were going 35 in a 40 bc it was nice out, and just in that crusin mood. Im in 4th gear just driving all a sudden i get pulled over. Instantly i figured it was for my exhaust (2.5 in BRM Dual tip cat/header/test pipe... so its an average sounding exhaust.. not loud but not stock)

Comes up and says the normal bs then i asked y im getting pulled over. Its bc he got reports of cars with loud exhaust wreckless driving on the road.

after all the bs he gave me a wreckless driving ticket.

Went to court with an officer who later that night found all 7-9 ppl racing (cars were described as ALL having underglow/hid's) i dont have either. judge dismissed it after talking for 30 min.

One of those, Wrong place wrong time things. Thank you for ruining my night!
