exactley what i was saying...it looks like a tight fit if it does. and changing your oil would now be 10 times harder

There are 4 kits for sale. NICO should start a collection and buy them for 4 lucky members.

I got dibs on one.

SpeedLab is....I won't say more until they replace my RB25 intake camshaft that was broken while they were resurfacing the head for my motor or make some effort to compensate me for the damages.

$1200 for that is ridiculous. brand new S15 bb turbos are like $700 something IIRC

(if it legite)How is 1300 for a super charger kit ridiculous? Go look at any super charger kit and find a better price. Sure you could get an S15 turbo cheaper than 1200. But try find a turbo kit that is less than 1200.

But I do agree I would wait for the R&D to be finished.

And I personally would try to fabricate a similar setup that on my own.

Nothing comes with that kit. You'll be in the same situation with a brand new turbo and manifold and still have extra. You still need piping fmic injectors fuel control etc just like turbo. I got a couple pieces of aluminum which I'm going to make a bracket. Great idea but I want to see clearance issue.I'm actually thinking baout turning the SC sideways. Therefore no oil worries. That is just bolted up. If you were to make a plate and weld it to the upper intake like a lot of the ka24de mani's are done. If I get a good deal on a SC I'll let you know, on my progress.

I was never a fan of superchargers. If I was doing a KA I'd definately just go KA-T. For 1200 I could piece together a turbo kit for a KA and have some money left for odds n' ends I would need (It'd be easy for me because I can weld and I have access to a welder, MIG and TIG, and theres alot of scrap metal I can use around where I work). Why haven't I done a KA-T (you might ask)? I went with SR instead.

Gah...

Quote »Is this legit?
Yes, but the auction looks like it was released prematurely, or they are just gauging interest. The engineer of the kit(Thomas Knight), and the shop helping develop it(Speedlab) are pretty reputable in the business of making things go fast.

Quote »Fitment?
It will fit.

Quote »It's ugly!
Uglier than what? It looks almost like a factory component. Powdercoat/polish it like the rest of your engine bling.

Quote »Alternator?
I think you can see it in the picture. No accessories lost, unless you have ABS.

Quote »It's Expensive!
You should switch hobbies or roll your own. Not to mention, the thing's pretty fricken complete, keep in mind it's a simpler beast than a turbo. Only things missing for a decent setup are injectors, fuel management and intake.

Quote »Centrifugal superchargers are better!
These are already available for the 240 in a more efficient and proven package. It's called a turbo.

Quote »Turbos are better!
For what? A turbo isn't universally better than a supercharger. You have to take into account space restrictions, price, goals, engine, response time, lag and other factors when choosing your forced induction. There is no magic bullet.

As for the rest... The proof is in the pudding. There will be pudding.

Maybe you need to tilt your head a bit.

I have heard of Thomas Knight he started off making turbos then superchargers. I think he quit making turbos and focused on electric superchargers . But if he helped engineer it I am sure it would work. also by the looks of it it looks like you could almost use the factory intake. All in all it looks like a good buy. But if they are using it to gauge intrest they will have to make it look more legit.

Guys as you can tell I have been just as curious about this kit as you guys are. So I sent an email to Thomas Knight Turbos (i got the email off their site http://www.boosthead.com/home.php) asking about this kit and here is the responce.
Thomas Knight Turbos wrote:JONATHAN, YES, I DESIGNED THE KIT. A FEW YEARS AGO I BUILT ONE FOR MY 98 ALTIMA KA24DE AUTO TRANS, AND THAT WENT FROM 115 WHEEL HP TO 176 WHEEL HP @ 5 PSI. MARK AT SPEEDLAB IS OUR LOCAL INSTALLATION AND DYNO CENTER FOR TKT KITS, AND DURING A DISCUSSION OF THE 240SX KA24DE I MENTIONED I HAD MADE ONE AND STILL HAD THE CNC DRAWINGS. HE SAID WE NEED TO DO ONE ASAP BECAUSE THE AUTO TRANS CARS DONT DO WELL WITH TURBO LAG, AND A HUGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WOULD WANT THE INSTANT RESPONSE AND RELIABILITY OF AN EATON KIT. WE ALSO DETERMINED THAT AN ADAPTER SETUP SOLD SEPERATELY TO THOSE WHO WANT TO FIND A USED NISSAN BLOWER WOULD ALSO SELL WELL. 240SX OWNERS ARE LOYAL OWNERS WHO LOVE THEIR CARS, BUT MANY DONT HAVE THE TYPICAL $3000-$4000 MOST COMPANIES GET FOR SUPERCHARGER KITS. SO I PULLED MY CNC PROGRAM AND HAD A DOZEN SETS OF ADAPTERS MADE OUT OF 6016-T6 AIRCRAFT ALUMINUM. THE BEAUTY OF THE DESIGN IS AFTERMARKET PULLEYS FOR THE FRONTIER HAVE THE CORRECT BACKSPACING TO WORK, SO CUSTOM MADE PULLEYS ARE NOT NEEDED. THE EBAY ADS WERE PLACED TO GENERATE EXITEMENT ABOUT THE KITS. ONLY A FEW MORE KITS WILL SELL AT THE $1200 PRICE, AS THE FIVE OFFERED WERE INCLUDING CLEAN, INSPECTED, AND TESTED NISSAN EATON UNITS (I HAVE 20-30 OF THEM), AND THEN WE WILL SELL THE ADAPTER SET FOR $1200, OR A COMPLETE KIT LESS FUEL CONTROL AND GAUGES FOR $2495. $2995 WILL INCLUDE 550CC INJECTORS AND A MODDED ECU (EXCHANGE), BOOST & A/F METER. THE COMPLETE KITS GET MY SPECIAL RACE PORTING OF THE MANIFOLD ADAPTER, EATON BLOWER, AND THROTTLE BODY PLENUM--THIS RAISES EFFICIENCY FROM 58% TO 70%--THE SAME AS TURBOCHARGERS. IT TAKES 12 HRS TO PORT AND MACHINE AN EATON CORRECTLY--DARK SECRETS SELDOM SHARED BY SUPERCHARGER MAGICIANS. CLUBS WILL QUALIFY FOR GROUP BUYS (I WONT DISCUSS DISCOUNTS YET), SO EXPECT GROUP BUYS TO BE 20% OR SO LESS. THERE ARE OBVIOUS REASONS WHY I WONT OFFER BETTER CLOSE-UP PICS. TOO MANY PEOPLE WILL COPY MY DESIGN BECAUSE IT IS SO SIMPLE. IT IS UNLIKELY SOMEONE WHO PAYS FOR ONE WILL SHARE THE DESIGN WITH SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO COPY IT. THAT IS HOW I HAVE OPERATED FOR A LONG TIME. TELL THOSE WITH INTEREST THAT WE WILL HAVE DYNO RUNS AND MORE PICS BY JULY 15TH. WE HAVE TWO INSTALLATIONS AND BOTH WILL BE TESTED BY THEN. I DO HAVE THE ALTIMA DYNO RUN IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED. THOMAS (GEOFF) KNIGHT22050 SW 155 AVEMIAMI, FL 33170BOOSTHEAD.COM786-243-2000

I'm about a week away from getting a SC. Going to attempt to make my own kit with a little bit different design.Going to try their placement first. But will most likely go a different route. I'm in the middle of moving right now. So chances are I will be stopped in the middle of this. I'm worried on their kit about how close it is to passenger strut and the oil filter issue. Will soon see fitment pics of their kit.

let me rephrase. 1200 dollars for a supercharger made from stock used parts is riduculous, and yeah your correct on the whole turbo kit being more than 1200. unless you get it from SSAC! lol

Maybe working today broke my brain, but does that email from Thomas Knight say that after the first few sales the price of $1200 *won't* include the actual supercharger?

WTF. Is no looking at this kit. I just put together a full turbo kit for $1500.This kit only has an adapter plate, rebuilt SC, and tensioner with belt. For $1200 you can buy a brand new mani, turbo, and downpipe. Then your in the same boat as this. This kit is only good for those seeking the 230rwhp mark. The kit I put together for my friend we spent $1500.Brand new SAFCLog manifoldporsche turboCustom DPNew oil linesTial wastegateapexi BOVFmic piping/couplerssr 370cc injectorsngk sprakplug wires and plug

With this kit you are still going to need injectors, bigger fuel pump, and then something to control your fuel. Your in the same price range for a turbo kit.

he wants waaaaaay too much money for that simple *** kit in my opinion. It probably costs him 3$ to cnc those adaptors and he throws in a 200$ at most USED supercharger. Id give him 750-800 tops, maybe 1000 for a new blower included...

Buy a SC and then get a plate of aluminum. Put paint on bottom of SC. Set aluminum plate on SC and then remove. Cut the outside edge of and the part where there is no paint. Drill holes to allow SC to mount to plate. After test fitting for clearance and pulley. Weld plate to you intake mani which you hacked in 2.....

i dont think that particular SC will work on a SOHC b/c the intake mani is flipped so youd have to flip the SC and that would put the head in the way of the TB no way it will fit
