why do you need axles if your vlsd is jdm? my vlsd is jdm and it works with the stock axles

Then someone lied to me, because my VLSD has 5 bolt flanges and my S13 has 6 bolt axles.

the jdm ones are 5 bolt iirc. but my vlsd was just the guts, so i swapped it in a stock pumpkin and used the stock axles

keep an eye out on those 4 driveshaft/diff bolts, I see you are using bolts with a coarser thread. The stock ones are pretty fine, good for holding things together with a lot of vibrations.

Personally, I'd get some new OEM bolts.

Beleive me WC I know lol but its nice to see it all starting to look better. Unfortunately its supposed to rain most of this week and I have training for my summer job as well so body work will be on hold for a bit.

I had much finer ones in but the heads were too large to fit on the driveshaft [you can see in the pic if you look carefully] but I do plan on OEM ones eventually. Thanks for the advice though

I got my package from Hose Techniques today and installed the majority of the hoses, FMIC=DONE!!! Now all I have left is the intake and fluids and kuhpow! Hopefully...

But NICO you know me too well...there of course is a problem. My SR MAF doesnt match up with my filter, so I either need a new air filter [which are expensive but easy] or a different MAF with the same bolt pattern as a Z32 [more difficult but possibly cheaper].

I want easy so Ill be ordering a filter soon pics soon I promise.

zerothread?id=307269a few pics down. the adapter bolts onto the 4 bolts and then you can slip on a universal filter

Most intercooler kits nowadays go more up at an angle on the lower hot pipe. If I may re-state to unconfuse you, tilt the rear of it 21:00 picture should be tilted vertically toward the sky.

Your muffler might not have lined up correctly because you flipped the outlet and inlet of the resonator pipe. Try looking at it to see if spinning it 180* around would fix the fitment.

your vac line from the BOV to the wastegate baffles me.

fix that. seriously. totally, totally not correct. both need independent vac sources, and NOT hooked to eachother

THATS WHAT I THOUGHT!! I got into an argument with my friend who said he saw one like that and it was correct.

Can I run a T from the TB->BOV and wastegate? Or do I need independent for each? Some people go off of the hotpipe? I dont want to weld a nipple in though

Not to be rude, but you're all over the place with this swap. There's enough information online to do this swap much more smoothly than it's going.

Vacuum setup:

You have only 2 sources of vacuum. The ports above the throttle body. The port on the bottom of the throttle body is NOT a vacuum port. The ports above the throttle body are actually coming directly from the intake manifold. One of the port is smaller than the other port.

Smaller port should be used for the fuel pressure regulator. THAT's IT! I know who T off of this line for boost gauges. Works, but I tend to leave it alone.

Larger port will serve as your vacuum source for everything else.

Run a hose from that port and T it off. One side of the T goes to BOV. The other side goes to waste gate. If you need to get your boost gauge plumbed in, T off the line going to the BOV. If you need to plumb in a boost controller you can T off the waste gate. I'd recommend tapping into the hot pipe for vacuum like OEM. Plus you're not Ting every line.

Before you do anything else, spin the throttle body 180* man. That little brass pin that wiggles is the bleeder and should be at the top so air can find its way out of your cooling system.

Listen to Bumnah and MGE. You'll eventually get the hang of picturing a correct vacuum setup of a turbo car in your head.

Think of what a boosted car does when the TB is closed = vacuum. When it's open those vac lines will slowly see boost depending on throttle.

The lower one on the TB is only used for the EVAP canister. Plug it up if you can get away with removing this.

LOL and Bumnah, I tee off the FPR line for the boost gage, I know I'm not supposed to . Haven't had any problems but maybe I'll redo it someday.

Your right, the vacuum setup is the thing that confuses me most-2nd only to wiring. I am doing my best though considering its my first build. I do appreciate your help alot [Didderson/greeneyes/WC included]. Ill work on the vacuum lines tonight, thanks guys.

you dont need to be intimidated by the vac routing, like bunmah said, its insanely easy. one vac port for the fpr, the other for everything else. i would put a vac nipple in the hot pipe though. i did that on my last setup but this time round the new turbo has a vac port in the housing
