Sorry for the delay everyone, I've been organizing and building a new vacuum storage tank so I can work a bit faster.

The other vents just aren't coming out the way I want them to so I'm going to make my own. Will post pics ASAP when I get the first vent done so you can all give me opinions.

Hey everyone, sorry for the delay but I have the BEST excuse. My beautiful and loving wife gave birth to our handsome new son and first child! His name is Thomas and I couldn't possibly be more grateful and happy.

Coil cover progress: So I finished the metal template for the new vents and now all I have to do is the final shaping of them so I can add them to the cover. Now that I'm back home I can finish it and take some pics of how it came out.I have reduced the number of vents from 16 to 8 which will let the carbon fabric flow easier and reduce the # of failures. They are going to be in the same direction as the FLUSH ones. Both my wife and I agree that the new vent design is much more modern looking and I think you will all agree when it's done

Thank you guys for the great comments about my son!

Since I'm still adapting to a new baby schedule I haven't been on the progress train but I took some pictures of the metal template I'm making to feed everyone some eye candy. I used the 1st bad carbon cover as a size reference but you can see the color shows really well.Looks better right? On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being best, what would you all give the vent design.

Is the vent design the thing off to the left of the coil pack cover?

Congrats on the new addition!

Wow, you can _really_ see the blue weave.

What does the 'back side' of the vents look like? I assume this is a front-facing shot, what about a rear-facing shot?

Yes, that is the new vent design. The vents are going to be added into the large hump doing down to entire coil cover.

Yeah, trust me when I say pictures don't do the colors justice. When you look at it from different angles the dominant color changes.

I took this picture to give you all an idea of the new sizing of the vents.I still have to weld some more steel in to seal the gaps on the vents and then get to the filler, shaping, and sanding to give it some really smooth compound curves. After its finished I make a mold of it and then cut out a part of coil cover mold and replace it with the new vent mold.I would say about 40-60 more hours of sanding and shaping filler and it will be ready.

Ok, yeah that would look pretty sweet, thats alot of work, what are you looking at in terms of hrs for ones for sale?

I finally welded the rest of the metal template and I'm going to start the filler. I took some more pictures so you can all see the progress.Composite fab isn't my only forte...

Also, I'm starting on this too.

What do you mean? The work I'm putting in right now will only impact the price very little. The largest impact on the price is the carbon and epoxy. You can blame airplane companies *cough* Boeing */cough* and the world shortage of carbon for the high price of carbon/epoxy prices.

I got your email but I'm just going to reply to you here since it's easier for me at the moment. Also, I'm sorry to ask but can you edit the repeat pictures out of your previous reply, it would keep this build more slow internet friendly, thanks.I don't have any definite release dates yet but I'm trying my hardest to finish it.I'm sorry but I don't have any way of making a clear cover right now. For the moment all I'm doing is carbon until I get enough cash to experiment some more.

I've been playing with a 2x2 twill fiberglass but I just keep getting a matte clear. Is that what you mean?

I know you guys are going to like this... This is what I was talking about when I said I'd make the 25's cover flow more like the 26's... And its good for vvt cam. Almost done with the shaping of the plug to make the timing cover mold. Just a little more filler, sanding, and gelcoat and it will be ready to mold.

Sorta but more like carbon with some type of transparency if thats possible. If not no biggie, I do like the work your doing with the timing cover going to be sweet as well!

Almost done! The vents are just about ready to insert into the coil cover plug to make the final mold. Just a little more sanding and shaping. The timing cover is 90% done, all I have to do is flush the surface, drill out the new bolt holes, and then mold it.
