I just finished the upper timing cover mold and I'm going to lay up the first carbon one tonight. I'll get pics up when it's in the vac bag.

The vented coil cover is still being worked on. Getting the vents all 100% symmetrical is one of the most difficult things I've ever tackled.

Thanks for the great comments!

I have the vents in PVA and hopefully I'll finally get a good mold this time...

However the timing cover is coming along great. The timing cover mold is ready to duplicate so I can have multiple cover drying at the same time.Timing cover mold:

looks great but whats the progress on the coilcovers unless I missed it? I wouldn't mind a blank unvented one free of the mounts for the ignitor without the dip in teh center.

The unvented one doesn't have the chip mounts or the hump. Though the dip running down the center is still there.

The progress is: The timing cover and normal coil cover molds are finished.I'm still working on the vented one but it looks like I'm almost done.I'm not going to sell any until the vented one is done and I know the epoxy won't yellow or warp with the constant heat.I'm playing around with different epoxies to get a good balance between glossy and heat resistance.

When they are all finished I'm going to start a new thread in the fabricators market to start taking orders and shipping them out.

Not really in the update but I was making a reusable plug to make more timing cover molds and the flange cracked when I was pulling it so I just decided to cut it up and make a test fit of the fiberglass one. This cover is made out of fiberglass not carbon.Note how the carbon/kevlar coil cover changed dominate colors at different angles.Front: Flush bolts (using the stock bolts)

Side: Notice that the back of the timing cover sits flush with the metal dust plate.

Hey Fiber, did you say you were looking for a 26 center cover and timing cover to use for molds? Mine are painted up all pretty, but if you promise not to scratch them (and pay to fix them if you do), you can use mine. My buddy lives right down the road from you in FL. I could send them down with him after he comes to visit and you can mail them back or something. Just a thought since I pulled them out of a box from japan yesterday.

Thanks for the bump, I've been juggling a lot of financial issues so I've been slowed down. I need to get out to work on these and finish them so I can get out of this rut. I promise the quality will be worth the effort I've put into them and the wait though.

Hey, welcome back stateside where RB's are expensive again. About the 26 covers, I have to fill in the spot where the sticker is so they are completely smooth and take all the imperfections like pits and scratches out so I need a set to keep. But when the 25 covers are out maybe you'll trade them for a carbon fiber set, or the first 26 set?
