The entire car was stich welded and we didnt want to weld around gas/fuel. The car even started on fire 3 times, so it was good I removed it.

Its soooooo close and I've tried tons of things but it wont f***ing reach. I am gona try more tonight. Ohhhh i am so pissed.

PS: its hard to install a gas tank alone...

So the oil line kit that came with my turbo didnt fit. The customer servise sucks so they didnt help me at all. So I went online and bought another oil line kit from another company. This oil line kit came and it was nice, but the plate for the return line was too big. This made me mad, but I figured I would make my own. I took one of the extra oil restricters I had and cut off the nipple, drilled a hole and tapped it.

Here is the oil line kit.

Here is the oil restricter and return line plate side by side. You can see the return line plate is bigger.

Here is the oil restricter

Here it is again, but I cut off the nipple and drilled a hole and tapped it.

Now it all bolts up perfect. Sweet. Here is the mock up of my oil return line

So that looks good. Now my oil pan sucks. The old pan had a huge dent in it. It was like that when I got it. So I have an extra oil pan in my garage from my other engine. This one is not dented but it is rusty.

The dashboard sapport is also crappy looking.

So I took a wire wheel and removed as much rust as possible. Then I cleaned them both off and did a little painting. First came self etching.

Then came paint.

So I'm happy with the end result. O, I also got my gas tank in.

Yeah!

I haven't had time to do much. I assembled the rear end.

Put the door handles on.

Then I installed the windsheild wipers and I was getting ready to install the window trim when I noticed that the screws where still spray painted gray from when the car was spray painted, I took them and screwed them into a block of wood and painted them.

I also painted the gas and brake pedal so they didn't look so s***ty.

Now I'm in a little bit of a pickel. My plan was to drill a hole and weld in the silver male fitting. But when I was talking to a professional welder he told me I can't because the pan is too thin. I thought I read that b4 online, but I have a very short memory. So.... any recomendations on how to connect this to my oil pan? He mentioned something to me about silver sodering or something, but I didn't understand.

Advice?

Well, I have made some changes in what I plan to do because I want to get this car done this year yet so I can make it to at least 1 event. I am no longer gona run MSII as my EMS. I am going to run Nistune. It seems like a great EMS. I have alot more to learn on how to tune and how this spacific EMS works, but im excited.

Yup. That is how this project started. I have a binder at home that has every bit of research I did on how to do the swap. I know the ins and the outs of what i need and what needs to be done, and how to do it. I also had the engine at one time. The problem was that I live with my girl and her job slowed down so I had to be more careful with money. So instead of doing a VQ35DETT swap, I decided to go KA-T for now, and down the road I will go back to my VQ project.

So yestarday was cool and sucked. I got my intake mani back from a buddy that did my powdercoating. Man does it look nice after being sandblasted.

Here you can see the 3 block off plates I made. I also drilled and tapped every other hole. I pluged the holes with NPT plugs and they were painted over, so there is no chance of boost leak.

PCV blockoff

Here is my oil pan with the return bolt welded in. Now I just gotta cut the SS line and make the AN fitting.

ready to cut

Now here came the problem. I had no problem cutting it. The problem came With getting that stupid red fitting over the SS line. Well after cutting myself several times, I went to a buddies house and he got it. Then we stuck the Blue fitting in and all we needed to do was to slide the red fitting up to the blue and screw them together. Well we put it in a vice and both of us pulled and twisted and it wouldnt go. we got it close, but not close enough.

I took it to a drag shop and they looked at it and told me that the company sent me the wrong s***. So im pissed. I will go to the local tuner shop and get all new s*** again, but I just dont wana spend any more money on this f***ing oil line setup. Ahh......

OK. So the other day I went and got a some new fittings and a line. The new stuff went together pretty easy. It may look a little long in the picture, but a straight line would have gone right through the motor mount, so I had to go below it.

Then I took everything off the engine and cleaned it up with a wire wheel and some brake cleaner. Then I pained everything Glossy black with high temp paint.

Then I took my throttle body apart for cleaning, and to block off the little hole inside.

The crappy thing was, While takeing it apart, the first bolt I took off, it destroyed the threads with it. So that sucks.

O well. Next I will reassemble the last bit of the engine and put her in! Yea!

Turbo is a GT28RS ball bearing. I orginally wanted to go bigger untill I got to ride in a gutted 300hp S13. Was sick. I dont see me needing more.

More progress done today.

Put her on the cherry picker. Wraped the valve cover in a blanket so I dont scrach its sexy-ness

Engine bay is good to go!

Well I dont plan on running heat or A/C, so i blocked off those holes in the fire wall

Light weight flywheel FTW!!!

2 buddies came and helped me drop her in. Thanks guys!

Here she is in her new home. I put the old manifolds on so I have more room and I dont wreck the paint.

And the sexy-ness!! Ahh I love looking at it. She is in her now home, and she has the correct manifolds back. =) happy days

I'm liking the build.

Quick question about the paint. What kind of gun did you use?

And just FYI that's spot welding not stitch welding. Stitch welding is a continuous bead

I thought most of the seems within the 240 were spot welded in the factory or are the just glued? Most of them look like spot welds.

Also, what kind of welder did your friend use?

We used my buddies gun and im not sure what it is. He has a degree in bodywork.

It is stich welding. Unsure of the welder. My buddy has a few welder cause he does it for a living. Forgot what we used.

The body has a few, very few spots where it is welded. The majority is glued. They do that because I makes a smother ride, plus it is cheaper. By removed the glue and welding it I am makeing it stiffer. The daily ride will be ruffer, but my hadeling will go up from lack of chasis flex.
