You can and you should, as recommended by the owners manual.

My trip computer is not as accurate as the "old fashioned" way. I was showing 31mpg on the computer but was actually only 27mpg. That was the biggest discrepency gap. Mostly it's only 2 or 3 mpg under the computer.
I can't find it now, but there was a post here within the last week or so of a shootout between four of the CUV's. It was a trip from Chicago to Madison. Wisconsin. All of the odometers showed different numbers.

So if the odometer is off, are you still getting accurate "old fashioned" mpg numbers?

After 3 weeks, I am still working on my original tank of gas, just too much snow for a new car to drive in.

This just goes to confirm how consistently NYCers can expect the Rogue to return on fuel efficiency, since both of us are from the NYC metro area and we're getting back ~22MPG.

There are some good numbers in here. I'm interested in an SL AWD and was curious what speed you guys were averaging on the HWY.

I live in Austin and it's fairly rural. My G35 has an MPG average and a MPH average. In that car I get 22mpg averaging around 30 mph (which is pretty high). I get around 26 on the hwy.

My MDX averages 19-20 around town (not too shabby for a 4500lb suv), but only 21 or so on the highway.

I find with almost all cars, my city driving yields me about 10% less than EPA highway, and my highway driving about 10% better.

I really baby the MDX when I drive it to try and optimize mileage. 22.5 is the BEST it can do on the highway, and that's without going much past 65mph. After that it gets owned by wind resistance.

Unfortunately, the Rogue is one of the least aeordynamic CUVs out there - 0.37 coed vs. .33 from the Rav4 and CX7.

That concerned me, but I'm pretty happy with the numbers I see here.

Does anyone have more detailed HWY numbers with average driving styles. To get 22 on the MDX I need to baby it REALLY hard.

I've been getting 24-27 on almost every tank. A low of 23 and a max of 28.I drive with the flow on the interstate and here that is around 70-75 mph and at times 80 mph. I don't baby it on the interstate, but around town I do, no jack rabbit starts just let the CVT work at the low rpms it is designed for. I average 60% city and 40% highway on most tanks.

Purely on the highway at 75-80ish, what sort of return do you estimate you're getting?

Figuring the gas mileage on my own i've been getting between 23 and 23 .5 mpg, 80% Hwy use using 89 octane super unleaded with 10% ethanol blend. On a recent trip i got 26mpg all hwy miles. It's cold in Iowa!

I'm getting 9.9 L/100km which, according to an online conversion calculator, is about 24 mpg. 1400km on the Rogue so far.

I drive 30km everyday to work; freeway and city drive. that gives me about 28mpg. When I hit the highway and mix city drive 30 mpg. I gas every 7-10 days depending on the amount of driving I do. This is great CUV that wipes clean the mileage of other CUV's in it's class.

By the way I have the S AWD.

Just curious. Why use 89 octane when Nissan recommends 87 octane? You may be able to save yourself some $$.

So tonight I refilled for the first time at 250 miles...first fill up in 2 weeks. I have the SL AWD...and a lil disappointed in the mileage. I used approx. 13 gallons (it's a 15 gallon tank, correct?) so that means I obtained like 19.2 mpg. Everyone seemed to have gamorous mpg overall for city driving and highway driving. I'm left wondering because basically drive I drive 8 miles roundtrip to work through the city and journied out on the highway on the weekends. I hope that it will get better for sure.

Please let me ask...the Rogue's acceleration....I came from about 13 years of manual drive and have not played with the manual shifters. So when I am between 20 mph and 30 mph, if I attempt to accelerate, the engine seems to have hesitation and produce a slight vibration in the vehicle...actually usualy during any acceleration, especially towards an upcline It's almost as if I have to gas it down hard to proceed beyond the hesitation, but then I am speeding. Is this normal for this type of vehicle, or am I not use to driving an auto....or should I be concerned with the gas mileage and performance and take it back to the dealer? I really like the car, but with this heitation issue and slight mpg concern, either the car has an issue, or I do with driving an automatic....I welcome the feedback. My boss has a brand new Honda CRV and she swears it's the ingine...I swear there's a problem. My Rogue's engine handles nothing like my rental Altima I had a few years ago.

Please let me know your Rogue SL AWD engine experiences....THANKS SO MUCH! Shawn

Burning my first tank right now in the new car... I don't expect much in MPG results till it's broken in.. Wanted to ask though about MPG.

Here in Rochester, MN 89 and 87 octane are the same price at most stations ($2.999)... But is there any advantage to running 89 since it's the same price? Anyone use 89 exclusively?

I think the hesitation you feel is normal with the CVT transmission. There's definitely a learning curve with the transmission. Seems to be lugging, but not really.

It's designed for 87. Using anything else isn't going to benefit you.

I'm a bit discouraged right now with my new Rogue. When I left the dealer driving home I was showing 22-29MPG on the on board computer. I was SO pleased and excited about the milage. I was driving about 72mph on cruise.

As soon as I'm home and driving to / from work on the highway at 74mph on cruise control my onboard is reading 14-19MPG. I reset it, and couldn't get over 20 on the highway. The average dropped into the 13's for a few miles too!

I couldn't do a manual calculation since the dealer didn't reset the trip odometer when they filled it up. So I filled it up last night, from the station to home I averaged about 19mpg, mostly city driving, then today on the highway I showed about 20.5mpg till I rest it, drove the last 22 miles of the 38mi trip, and got 23mpg on the way to work at a constant 70mpg on cruise.

I know the car isn't broken in, but how could the MPG be so good when the car had 280mi on it and be 6-8MPG lower when it's at 400mi and counting? It is cold here in MN, highs in the single digits lately, but I've seen others in cold climates reporting such good numbers! I also increased my tire pressure to 40PSI which I thought would help, should I not do this? It was good for my Honda's.

One other question, I notice that the computer displays "Icy" all the time. It's cold as I mentioned in previous post here in MN. But does the fact that "Icy" is on mean that I'm always in AWD due to the cold? Even when cruising on clear roads?

That only means that it might be Icy out. Nothing more. It's just an indicator.

Looks like my response is a couple weeks late, but for what it's worth...

For general mixed highway/city driving (probably about 50/50), I'm averaging about 25.8 mpg - I've changed my driving habits since getting the Rogue and try to keep it under 2000rpm when starting from a dead stop (I'm not always that patient though!). Highway driving alone I probably average 27-28 mpg, if I'm driving right around or under 70. I'm not an aggressive driver on the highway but I do tend to drive faster than most, pass a fair amount, etc. It's got about 4300 miles on it after 3 1/2 months. As noted by many others, the computer display consistently calculates 1.5-2 mpg higher than my manual calculations (I WISH I was getting 27.5!).

I have the SL 2WD, so numbers would probably be slightly lower on an AWD. Also this is in Phoenix in the winter, so no A/C and I rarely have to turn on actual heat/defrost, etc. My numbers were slightly lower when I first got the car, whether due to break-in or constant A/C use.

Hope that helps!

usually i drive from san jose to san francisco, once a week, after i fill the tank up from san jose, and reset the computer, i got around 27-29 miles per gallon, after i get into the city for the week, it drops to 17-20 miles (local), and then i drive back to san jose, 45 mile, the computer never rise up the number, max i got is around 21-22 per gallon on free way, yesterday i went to santa cruz, after i filled it up, the computer shows 23.5 miles per gallon, but it's never go back to the 26 mile per gallon on computer (i drove about 100 miles free way only)

Where in the Rogue does it display the mpg in the odometer under the thermometer gauge?
