At the last check-up (16,000+ km), the car came back with yet another display, this time the average L/100km. It sat at 8.2 and is now at 8.4. Is this for the whole 16,000+km?

After owning a S AWD for two years, the average for me has been 21-22 mixed city and highway. I see others getting 25 and that's awesome!

I have just completed a 480 mile trip and I am probably averaging 18-20mpg HWY. I have a 2012 SV AWD. The cruise control is set anywhere from 75 to 80 mph on the hwy. Kansas Speed limit is 75 on the high way. i am wondering why the crud i am getting such piss poor gas milage. I traded in a 2006 lancer evo mr, because i thought i would be getting better gas milage...well im not

That's not eco speed. eco speed is around 60 - 70. The transmission ratio isn't low enough in speeds over 75 to get 28 MPG.
Plus its cold in Kansas.
If you keep the computer on the cluster in Eco Mode and look at the Engine Speed (RPM). You'll see what I mean.

2010 SL AWD Cert. Used

1st hwy trip averaged 25.2 mpg over 210 miles with about 5 miles of "city driving".
I drove very aggressively on the hwy @ 70-75mph when possible; lots of hills.

With my 2011 SL AWD I have been getting about 27mpg lately. My daily drive is mostly country roads 25 miles one way to work, I travel about 2 miles of that on highway (65mph), about 3 miles in town (25mph)and, the rest is 45-60mph.

Car has about 14k on it, I run the cheapest gas (87 octane).

I have been keeping detailed mileage logs on my 2008 Rogue SL since I purchased it. For my Rogue with 67,000 miles, the calculated average is 25.7 mpg while the Rogue trip computer average is 26.6 mpg. For my driving, about 70% of the mileage is highway. The top calculated mpg was 31.8 mpg about 6 months after purchasing the vehicle in 2009. With higher gas prices, I have been driving the Rogue differently the last month or so to maximize the miles per tank. During this time, I have avoided the HOV lanes where I used to drive about 70-75 miles/hour and now drive from 55-60 miles/hour. Today I set a personal record for my Rogue by getting 478 miles per tank. The Rogue trip computer average was 29.1 mpg on about 16.6 gallons which leads me to a question. The listed fuel capacity of the Rogue is 15.9 gallons. On one occassion in January 2012, I pumped 17.5 gallons into the car without topping off. I realize that due to temperature effects that you get more gas at lower temperatures, but don't think that it would be 1.6 gallons over the tank capacity. On the website: http://turndownhotfuel.com it states that the additional fuel would be about half a gallon difference from 60 degrees to 90 degrees. Therefore, in the winter the fuel difference may a half a gallon or so from 30 degrees to 60 degrees. Anyway, my goal is to get 500 miles per tank. I think I can do so assuming I get about 29 miles per gallon and just over 17 gallons in a fill-up. I would be interested if anyone in the forum has ever achieved 500 miles per tank.

500 miles? Yes, I do that regularly in summer or when on holiday (long travels).
If you search my posts in this thread, you will see that my record is 948 kms or 589 miles if I remember correctly.
For my Rogue, the tank volume is about 18 gallons (with the pipes and all the stuff). Again, it is documented somewhere in this thread.

Have fun experimenting.

I averaged 28.1 on my last tank in my 2012 sv . This was 90% highway driving on a vacation trip. AC on and using cruise set on 70 50% of the time. I was averaging 31mpg half way to my destination but ran into a 20mph headwind that dropped the mpg a good bit over the last half of the trip. Under the right conditions not using cruise and with the AC off I think I could average 32mpg on a long highway trip by running between 60 and 75 mph. Build speed on down slopes and let the speed drop on up slopes . I was doing this for awhile on the last tank but my leg got tired so I would go to cruise for 10 mins or so at a time which would drop the average. So that would be 512 miles on 16 gallons . So I think I could get 500 on a tank under perfect conditions if I worked at it.

I'm glad to see www.fuelly.com gaining more traction. It's great, it's free, it let's you update by sending a simple text message so you don't need to use a computer or smartphone to access their website all the time.

One thing to note is that the US gallon (3.78541L) is NOT equal to the imperial gallon (4.54609L).
26.9 US mpg = 32.3 Imperial/Canadian mpg = 8.7L/km regardless.

To maximize your fuelly accuracy, make sure to:
a) select the correct display units in your profile (especially if you're entering your fuel economy using gallons)

Tips to make the most out of your fuelly, make sure to:
a) set up updates by text messaging (if you like)
b) customize your mini stats (e.g. I have L/100km shown since that # is not affected by US vs Imperial gallon, good to compare with our fellow Rogue owners that share a border)
c) embed your fuel economy in your signature using Fuelly's badge, it adds a cool little graphic

Note about using Fuelly's badge, it will link to your Fuelly profile and show all your fill-ups, notes, etc. Don't post information like your full name, notes which may give away your location, etc and compromise your privacy.

Excellent points. I've managed to track every one of my fill ups with Fuelly. Oh, and I utilize the app from GasBuddy.com as well. Comes in handy on long trips, sometimes just trying to find a gas station that's open late.

BTW Sprocket... Is that from Monty Python?

Yup, I use Gasbuddy too ... I have a bunch of gas stations I frequently used saved to a favorites list and I usually pull it up to see if I should gas up near work, on the way home or at the gas station around the corner :)

I don't get gas at Sam's Club because I usually get a noticeable mpg drop, not worth the slight savings per gallon IMO, plus you can't clean your windshield there. I usually get gas at Citgo or Mobil because I get better slightly better fuel economy than say Shell. Speedway usually isn't bad but I don't have one along the way. Valero gets me noticeably lower mpg. No experience with BP since the only BP gas station I have is usually more expensive.

Sprocket ... kinda came about because pocketrocket was taken and that was my ID on another forum from about a decade ago. No reference to Monty Python :)

I just did a roundtrip to Montréal (a little over 550 kms of higway + a bit of city driving in Montréal itself), with my gf and our two teens and some luggage in the cargo area, and I averaged 28 mpg.

Ours is a 2008 SL AWD with 105 000 miles on the clock.

I'm pretty impressed.

21mpg / 30% highway / 70% city

We are getting about 21mpg. Phoenix is a giant grid so our city driving is usually quick but with a lot of stop lights. Highway speeds are typically 70+. Definitely disappointed with the MPG though. Gets less than my Honda Element and we know how aerodynamicly challenged they are. I thought a CVT was supposed to get better mileage, the dust buster shape should help as well.

In this thread we have a guy using 93 octane, and another putting 18 gallons in the tank ... *facepalm*

So I just traded in my '11 AWD for a '12 FWD (long story). Anyway, on the '11 I would get a rough idea of mpg after driving 3-5 miles. I've put over 60 miles on the '12 and it says I'm getting 12mpg. Seriously, twelve miles to the gallon? 90% of that is highway driving, with a full tank. Going back to the stealership in the AM to get some answers.
