Once again, it's Treyarch's turn. Release date is 11/09/10.

As much as I think Treyarch is the suck, I am glad they are aiming for a more modern approach to FPS. Although I can not put my finger on exactly what time this game takes place. I saw jungle warfare, old iron sights from WW2 guns and a SR-71 Blackbird. I am assuming 60s-70s?

Also saw snow and what appears to be a Bell UH-1 (better known as the Huey).

But seriously, if I'm taking a suppressed 9mm from the Vietnam era it's Sterling's L34A1. But if I'm taking a suppressed pistol from that era it's got to be the PPK, before the manufacturing got all screwed up.

Either way, I'll be spending all my multiplayer hostility time on Halo: Reach.

Read a short article just now. Thought it was pretty interesting...

-Mark Lamia, the head of Treyarch, has revealed that his studio is now solely dedicated to the Call of Duty franchise. However, this dedication is not related to the Infinity Ward debacle from earlier this year.

"Treyarch is a 100 percent Call of Duty studio -- and it has been for a long time now, long before any of [the Infinity Ward] events occurred," Lamia said. "We focused all of our efforts on creating the best Call of Duty game we possibly can and what that meant is not working on anything else. We are a multiple team studio and focusing on Call of Duty and Call of Duty gameplay meant focusing all of our teams on that."

This change has led to the creation of a dedicated CoD multiplayer team at Treyarch. There has also been speculation that dedicated servers will follow.-

Thoughts on this? Think Treyarch will save the CoD franchise? Or is everyone totally done with the whole series? Personally, I'm hoping for the best, but leaning towards the latter...

Treyarch saving the CoD franchise?

Imaging saying that after WaW came out.
I think MW2 is a great game, it had one of the best single layer campaigns, if not the best I have ever played. I think it was Activision's decision to sh*t on it's fans that pissed people off more than anything else. And yes multiplayer had issues but not enough to say Treyarch need to save the franchise...

But I digress...
Black Ops looks amazing and so far I am loving what they have been showing/talking about. The storyline sounds really interesting and I can't wait to see some in game footage. My hopes are up, don't f*ck me Treyarch :squint:

They must be doing it wrong, then.

But, hey, good on them for bringing back dedicated servers. It's what makes PC gaming worth it.

@RCA... I phrased that incorrectly. I think MW2 is great as well, and it doesn't need saving. I was referring to everything else going on. The exodus of IW, the possibility of Activision running the franchise into the ground, etc... Can Treyarch step up and. as you said, not f*ck us? A couple of good shooters coming out soon, and with BC2 totally rocking, they have their work cut out for them.

I'm posting this link in this thread only because it mentions Black Ops possibly being the first. I know it's been brought up in other threads, and I'm sure other games may follow suit if it happens.

Don't get me started on that piece of s***. It was like getting raped by a gorilla and then having it tell you it loves you while you blow all of his friends with a gun to your head. They promised us the world, and gave us a piece of sand wrapped in a used condom. The MP didn't work, the sp was beyond broken and the game was never finished, then to top it off they charged us for DLC that should have been in the game to begin with, then to top it off the just cut off all support to the game after it was only out for 6 months. f*** you Codemaster, I'll never buy another game from them ever again, which is a shame because I really want Dirt and Dirt 2. As bad as OFP:DR was, it still wasn't as bad as ARMA 2 was.

As far as COD:Black Ops is concerned, it looks like it should be decent, and as bad as I want a realistic Viet-Nam based FPS, I'm more psyched about the new MOH game coming out, even though I know that EA will in some way, shape, or form will totally F it up. We shall see.

I'm with you on the COD: BO.

I will rent it and play the single player. Play some online then if friends buy it and play online, I might as well.
If not, I will just wait for MW3.

I like W@W better than COD4.

yeah. what. Dogs ftw.

I'm tired of modern shooters, I want another fun WWII game with people playing it.

when MW2 came out, COD4 and W@W just kinda stopped happening.

to be honest, I wouldn't mind a Bad Company style WWII shooter

Meh, MOH looks like it's going to be a better game, sorry. Besides I'm sure all the COD MW fanbois will completely ruin the entire MP experience by the end of the first week.

As much as I want to love it...

WTF is up with these weapons? This feels like Halo. Why are there lasers on half this sh*t, and since when do they have remote controlled cars with explosives in Vietnam era warfare?

My doubts are officially set. This will probably be corny.

Also NEWS ALERT
Activision plans on having the largest marketing campaign for a video game ever for the weeks previous to the release of Black OPs. Larger than MW2's. Be prepared to see way more Black OPs than you want...

Treyarch has s*** graphics compared to Activision's COD installments. DICE is coming out with Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam also, so that will definitely be worth getting. I will surely try out Black Ops before I buy it. I am kinda getting tired of the COD franchise. Have not played Halo since Halo 3 first came out, but I will surely be jumping back into the Halo franchise when Reach comes out.
