Here are my reasons:
-
Wings of Redemption's video "Blue Tops 5" sealed the deal for me
- Videos of Black Ops MP gameplay
Wings discusses EVERY thing I was afraid to hear and the game play
videos have confirmed it.
No "sound whoring"
- I own a pair of AX720s and I am replacing them with a $170 setup, not getting an advantage while using them pisses me off. I don't camp waiting to hear enemies but when I am reloading I like to know when an enemy is sneaking up on me.
Ninja Pro doesn't work
- Every video I've seen online, the audio coming from the player is horrendous. It sounds like they are running through buildings with concrete boots. Making noise is fine, just allow me to be silent.
Sniper Rifles are nerfed beyond what they should be IMO
- For those happy with "Quick Scoping" gone from Black Ops ask yourselves a question...
How many times do you play online and are dominated by some one quick scoping? If they did dominate you ask this question...
Were they the host? Did you have a high ping or bad connection? If you answered no to all of those questions, I ask you this...
What is your K/D? You are probably not very good.
I have had one lobby in the entire time I've played MW2 that I was genuinely over matched by quick scopers. I have had issues with OMA / Noob Tubes / Danger Close 3 matches a night. Quick scoping is fun to mess with, but it's not some thing to do competitively.
1 vs 2 match ups will most likely be lost.
- If I sneak behind 2 enemies and the odds for a double kill is slim, than camping will be prevalent. What are the advantages of running around? I like my FPS to be slightly arcade like. MW2 was more arcade than I prefer but COD4 was a nice balance. I am used to having a better shot than my enemies so losing a 1v1 gun battle because he was aiming at a door first is not going to be a good thing.
Treyarch's style
- COD3 and WaW had a specific style to the way players sound, move and shoot. I didn't like them. It is difficult to put my finger on the exact reason but I just know I don't like it. This style seems very prevalent in the new Black Ops.

There are a lot of things I like about Black Ops, but most of them are campain based. Because I plan on playing MP 80 times longer than campaign I don't think buying it will be worth while for me.
BUT I will give Black Ops a shot; my brother is buying it and I will play it when he isn't. I plan on finishing the campaign, play some Zombies and most importantly, I promise myself that I will play AT LEAST 24 hours of online game play before I make my *Buy-or-not buy* decision.
EDIT:
And this doesn't help
