A full write up with pics would certainly be nice

Being that this is an overlay keep in mind your stuff is going to keep cracking, and it's hard to say what that will do to the overlay itself.

So even doing this it would still be smart to drill out the "tips" of the cracks w/ a very very very small drill bit (rounding out the edge of the crack will help prevent it from spreading). It's an old trick and wont make the situation look any better, but it will help it from getting worse.

I promise to do a full write-up with pics. As for prepping your dash, Don't worry bout' existing cracks, they won't be an issue with the new overlay.

Let me help you with this:

Wait until the pics are posted. Stop freaking out.

Disc brakes made NO sense to my Dad when cars came out with them either.

He had to SEE them to understand them.

You're clearly too young to have ever restored an antique foreign car, but overlays are quite common in the restoration community. As our 240's approach antique status, there will be more of a market for these.

The coolest part of this whole endeavor is that WE made it happen.

I'll buy this... last week my dash cracked. Big long crackes right on top of the gauge cluster. I was sooo pissed, since it was a clean dash before hand. I would really like to see replacement door panels without speaker cut outs as well. Factory door panels are around $300 a piece last time I checked.

People who have experience with this product:

Does the Coverlay completely cover the dash or is it partial? If it's partial, wouldn't the cutoff line be very noticeable?

On the website it says "made from thick ABS plastic" - how will this affect the fitment of vents?

Do you think this would be a good option for those looking for a dash color conversion?

Sorry for all the questions, but it's still a big chunk of change to drop. Thanks!

Haha. No problemo man. Mine has some pretty beastly cracks. It's an ex Arizona car. I just got inside from pulling the engine.

ArmorAll is garbage. 303 Protectant and Vinylex are the only good ones I've found. 303 can be bought at boating supply shops, Vinylex at PepBoys.

Yours will crack, it's not what YOU do to it, it's how it was cared for in its first 3-5 years of life.

Complete coverage.

Even if it DID have a cutoff line, that's better than cracks, right? Cracks = ghetto crappiness.

Vents are unaffected - it gets thinner around the vent holes.

It'd be great for a color swap - Got blue or brown? Want black? BOOM!

$161 is chump change for the difference it'll make on your car. I've not seen any good pristine dashes for sale, and no one else has come up with a really good solution for cracked dashes, so until there's a good alternative, I'll be rockin' one of these!

If you just want to through some **** on top of your dash to hide the cracks, why not spend 30$ on a carpet dash cover like most people.

Why not just pull it, and re-vinyl over the top after filling the crack?

Screw that ABS plastic cover! I drive a 240sx, not a 240z

Because you'll probably enlarge the existing crack or create new ones from the removal, then create new ones on the reinstall Plus, you save a bunch of time
