There's no remote from the HU, but you can run one from the battery to the HILO adapter, it should have that capability. All you need is the one side. However, you can wire it bridged if you will consider this its permanent situation.

I just tried hooking up my new headunit, no go.I got no power to it.

12+ = Thick lead12- = BlackACC = CYAN

I wanna make sure it powers up correctly, before cutting the rest of the wires

This is all I need to test the power, correct?

I'm working with a Legacy LDNTV65U DoubleDin HU.

Also, wtf do I need (model) for the antenna adaptor?

thanx

You need to connect the power, ground, ACC, and illumination leads to test it. Without the illumination lead, you won't know if it is getting any power (although you might hear a motor inside of it move) because the display won't light up.

As far as the antenna, I'm going to try using a banana plug I picked up at Radioshack, I'll repost if I have any success.

ok

sorry for being such a newb, but i've never installed without a harness... does the illumination go to the ACC? My last install was 2001, when I got my last P.O.S. (Kia Sportage-worst excuse for an automobile I've ever owned!)

Illumination goes to Illumination, and ACC goes to ACC. Maybe you can take a pic of the harness that goes to the new HU, sometimes the harness is labelled weird or it is missing some wires. I want to help you out, but I need to see what you're working with.

this is what i'm working with;

then it's got the speaker wires, ANT input, TV ANT input, Sanyo CDC connector input and A/V in and outs.

Hmm, try E-mailing the company who made that HU, I've never messed with video in a car before. Illumination might work through the ACC lead, but I'm not too sure. Sorry that I can't help.

Just shot them an email... I doubt I'll ever get a response. But, oh well, I tried.

If anyone else has any ideas, I'm all ears (eyes)

Wow, that was fast. But uh... what's my issue now then. I replaced the factory unit and it works fine, I can assume no fuses were blown.

Does this mean I have to splice the Memory AND ACC to the cars 12+?And where the hell is the parking brake wire?

referring to the brake ground. is there a way to bypass this safety feature (dvd only working when car is in park)?

That makes sense, but how do you bypass this for seat mounted screens? Or is that a completely different setup? Oh, by the way, you probably have the answer to this already but the ACC and 12V shouldn't be spliced. The ACC is the lead that gives the signal to turn on the HU when you turn the car on, the 12V constant is just for memory, such as presets, EQ, and your clock.

you mean behind the headrest? the only screen that will not work is the one in teh dash. the other uses a video out, that will allow video to be view at any time.

aren't there also debug hacks as well?

all the bypass switches/blocks on ebay state they are for alpine/jensen... they seem to be brand specific. i saw nothing for Legacy.

I suppose you can try running it the correct way for now? Maybe you can find a Legacy forum where you can ask people who have installed their units before.

Master Jemdawg, I have a versa S but I need to replace my car stereo on my old nissan sentra '92 I bought a new cheap car stereo from best buy for $50.00 I want to install it myself, can you help me? I already remove the dash area for the stereo and already detach the old stereo. thank you.

I don't have the extra cash for installation which is more expensive than the unit.

You said this is for your '92 Sentra? Hopefully you have $20+ for a wiring harness and some butt connectors or female/male disconnects. Yours should be simple, and I'm sure you can find a guide for taking panels off somewhere. The wiring harness can be bought at Best Buy, and maybe the wiring components too, but if not, a local audio shop or Radioshack wil have them. The harness will plug right into the factory harness and all you have to do is match up all of the labelled wires on your new HU and the wiring harness, it should take no longer than 15 minutes to do this. I'll see if I can find you a guide, maybe it's similar to my 95 Sentra's installation, so I can help if you have questions, in that case.

The HU has all the harness, butt connectors for male/female. Matching them is my big obstacle. This HU has a ready wires for subwoffer and multi cd changers and amp. I already removed my panels and was able to pull the old radio. That's why I was able to see the wires. Thank you.

What I meant was that there is a wiring harness that plugs right into the harness that came from the STOCK HU. This saves you the trouble of finding out what each lead is by using a battery and a voltmeter.

Master Jemdawg, the harness from the stock HU is intact. I guess I have to buy a volt meter. Thank you.

For those who want to install a single DIN, Scosche has released a unit specifically for the V. Th single DIN goes up to and the pocket goes below. I know Crutchfield had a general one (I think it was for a Toyota), but this one is a complete unit that sits in the whole D-DIN slot.
