yes its a blue wire coming out of the antenna adapter so it plugs right into the metra adapter?arco wrote:Are you talking about the blue wire? If I remember correctly, that's the power antenna lead. I attached that to the matching wire on the Metra harness and it seemed to work ok for me.
you mean the cable coming from the HU with the weird plug, it says power antenna. i guess thats wat it isarco wrote:Eh, nope... now that doesn't sound right.
I'll look tomorrow when I have to do some cosmetic work on the dash kit.
I think I connected the white/white-black/gray/gray-black/green/purple/purple-black/red/yellow wires from the head unit harness to the matching wires on the Metra harness.
Then the black from the h.u. was grounded to a piece of metal on the car.
And I think I snipped the end off the blue wire from the headunit, stripped it, and then connected it with the blue antenna adapter lead.
That sound right? Sorry for the confusion.
I would say that wire turns on the antenna booster, thus the reason for bad reception.LMS79 wrote:so is that other wire on the antenna a ground wire? I just hooked up the adapter without using the blue one and my reception's not as good as is it was before... or could that just be the tuner in my headunit?
NOT A CHANCE! That wire is way too short. I had a spool of wire left from previous stereo projects. Unfortunately I had to extend the ground wire as well for it to reach under the seat. Should be able to get it from radio shack, just get the same gauge wiring. I also tapped the right rear speaker for the speaker input. Kept stock HU. If u need more specifics let me know.aaron818 wrote:Weems84,
Were you able to reach the battery with the supplied power cable. I just picked up the same tube you have. Any advice with installation.
