Thats pretty sick. How do you plan on dealing with the length issue and the shifter setting too far back?

Thanks for the kudos guysYesterday was back to normal with work and classes so we got out in the garage in the evening. Things are going to move more slowly from here. Finished hooking up most of the wiring, installed the injectors, fixed up some odds and ends with the removal of the hicas and attached the power steering line, removed the old driveshaft, and just buttoned up a lot of the little things.

Hey! Yeah, we have a season pass up there and go as much as possible. With all the drama in Houston and fewer events we made Mineral Wells our main haunt and we also bought this engine from the guy who runs those events. Veeeery laid back event with tons of runs. October should be fun, we're planning on being there as long as everything works out. So will it be your first drift event or just your first at Mineral Wells?

Cool, Aaron Losey (the now blue ls1 s13) runs the events right? This will be my 1st drift event ever. I figure big airport strip= good place to learn and such.

we are trying to get the car ready for the Sept. GSS road course event in Houston, but dunno if that'll happen. Looking forward to the oct mw event, supposed to be a good turnout

There really isn't an issue that I can see with the McKinney mounts. We just had to hammer on the firewall for the starter to fit, and the shifter is centered in the tunnel.

Awesome build so far. Just wondering where about in Austin do you live? When ever you get the swap done you should hit up the 620 and I-35 meet, it would be awesome if a RB powered 240sx showed up, all the other ones are just stock KA or SR swaps. There is one boosted KA-T that shows up as well.

We're off of 290 toward Houston about 6 miles from downtown. Shes track only, not street legal so we'd have to trailer it there

tho we do have a street legal turbo Miata that we could bring, dynoed 280 hp back when the engine was in good shape w/ more boost

You should so do it It wouldn't be the only car trailered out there! Would be cool if you brought the miata as well

so we are removing the hicas and subframe and replacing with non-hicas subframe. Problem is the subframe we got only came with the drivers side rear non-hicas knuckle.

There is a ball joint in the hicas passenger side knuckle, is there any way we can get that thing out and use that knuckle w/ the non-hicas stuff and toe links...or do we have to buy a normal knuckle?

sry, no pics, not at home right now

*updates*

Been waiting on parts and busy with school and work. Got the rest of the big parts in today. Picked up turbo lines and got some tabs welded on the radiator for mounting points.

In the process of ripping the hicas subframe out and putting a normal one in...just waiting on a passenger side knuckle right now and that should be back in shortly

Intercooler came in today, 4 inch core with 3 inch outlets/piping

Custom aluminum driveshaft goodness

Fitting the hood w/ previous intercooler and rad...hood still needs some sanding, fiberglass, finessing, and clearcoat...

Can anyone tell from this photo whether this is a R33 or Z32 maf?

i'm no help on the r33/z32 MAF, but the swap looks like it's going well except for all the leaking fluids haha.

It doesn't look like a z32 maf to me so I vote r33.

another update

Slow progress lately. Ben held back by school, work, and waiting on parts that are out of stock or being shipped. Have some nice vac line, hood pins, and 12 spark plugs on order.

The new subframe is finally in the car. That was a very time consuming task and not to mention a huge pain in the ***. Hicas is now outta there! In the last few days we've been working on installing the rad/intercooler, finishing up the hood, installing new fuel lines/300zx fuel filter, bolting the turbo up, and I installed (is not wired in yet) the walbro fuel pump. Yay, things are slowly coming together.

Spent $125 at the auto parts store buying a special belt for the power steering since the normal R33 ps pump pulley was f'd up. Also bought 4 radiator hoses to scavenge parts of for the custom rad setup...and finished it off with other misc parts before getting out the door.

Pics...

The subframe swappage

Old pos hicas subframe

Cleaned and repainted the new one

Installed!

Intercooler/radiator setup so far

Managed to salvage the stock core support and welded it back in

My lizard hanging out with me in the evening sun. A wild anole decided it wanted to sit on top of her cage so I took a pic lol

The hood so far. It is wet in the photo so it doesn't look quite that shiny normally, but when I'm done with it it should. Been sanding on it for a while, took it down to 2000 grit tonight and started on some rubbing compound. Tried spraying some clear coat on a corner later just as a test. Still needs some fiberglass work yet.

Took a bumper a friend of ours left here to do some experimenting with. Will eventually get a body kit for the car, but I need to recover from the engine swap costs first hehe. There will need to be some ducting and cutting of the bumper since the intercooler is so high...at least I won't have clearance issues w/ the intercooler going onto the trailer.

Thats all for now, hoping to have the engine running by this coming weekend so I can try to trouble shoot problems before the mw event.
