Thank you ^ Horsepower and rear end makes no difference. you will not see any difference at all with an 18 inch all around. But just in the rear is your suspension will have to be adjusted to compensate for the car being an half inch higher and an inch of in the rear, that would be a disadvantage if you asked me. A higher rear end is something that would need to be adjusted from the suspension and would cost more time to compensate for. Correct me again if Im wrong , but in the world of drifting isnt a higher rear end not a good thing.... ha

thus deeming the 18 in the rear only pointless and puts you into a position to adjust the height if youre into FINE tuning. When you in fact didnt even have to. The biggest thing I see though is you cant swap front tires for rears when you burn them and youll have to purchase two sizes in stead of one. See what Im saying here.

I'm probably going with 17s mainly from a $ standpoint. If there were more significant gains I'd definitely go with 18s, but with the rim and the tire being more expensive with negligible/controversial gains I'd rather put more money into tires to get out there and drive than worry about keeping up with the Joneses. I'm willing to be convinced that an 18" in the rear would be best, then I would go with that, but for now I'm probably going to stick with 17s all around.

As for the video, yeah, its pretty lol. The KA was probably making around 100whp or less that day. We had just given up on trying to drift the car at the event so went to burn the tires off on the skidpad...and as you saw it was not very spectacular. I have since bought an on-car camera mount and will be bringing my video camera/photo gear. I happen to have a small photo/video business so maybe I'll stick my gear in my bfs hands to try to get me and the car on camera for once. I also have video from us doing the swap that I have yet to edit...I'll probably put it all in one video.

I'm interested to see what happens at this event if we do get the car running. For the last 6 drift events the car has been in various stages of broken, mostly because of the engine, so I've gotten used to having to compensate for the problems and such. I'm not all that great at drifting yet, but I am used to high horsepower, just makes me wonder what is going to happen. There will be a learning curve for the first part getting used to the different balance, subframe, and of course the better ability to roast tires. But I predict that I'll finally see good improvement this event...assuming things go well.

you have a skid pad to practice on. you can stay on it for atleast 5 min. i dream of that for just even one day a month.

all we have up here is a 100 mile trip to the track once a month for 4-5months.and even that there is no skid pad, and is just a small oval track with no infields. once in a while we get a few other tracks.

lucky

ITS ALIVE! A new RB powered S13 is born...10/12/08 8:30pm

KA is sitting in the garage for now. Not sure what I'll do with it, prolly rebuild it or pick up a shell and drop it in there for a daily.

I actually don't have a skidpad. That is at an event 4 hours away in Mineral Wells, it was just the end of the day and we were done drifting so went to practice some control there. Thats pretty much the closest place to drift semi-regularly.

More to come soon, just got back from a celebration dinner and have exams the next 3 days

Yes, it ran wonderfully. Did I speak to you at all? I can't really remember who came and chatted with us, we'd stayed up all night to finish the car with 4 other people helping, hit the road at 4am ...so we were up for over 36 hours yesterday plus I'm sick. I can't remember much other than the car was awesomeness. I'll post some pics and video in a sec

well, got to go out on the track....amazing! Engine ran great, started at 8 PSI and pulled it up to about 14 (was tuned previously for 19). Had lots of fun, wasn't expecting to drift it much, but the engine was running great. Since the last post we got the BOV welded up, a straightpipe exhaust, cleaned some wiring, and buttoned it up more. Put in a start switch, e-fans, ps belt. Still needs a lot of finishing work and some body parts, but we had a kick *** time yesterday...even if we were up over 36 hours.

Not too many problems, had some lifter tap on and off that need to be bled, but I was already told about that...joy. Blew off the piping a few times, then during the burnout a cheap coupler blew a hole in it. transmission and clutch felt so smooth and tight, engine extremely smooth and a sumo load of power compared to the 90hp KA haha. We drifted horribly since we were so tired, but very happy to get the engine running.

Adding gauges in the dash

****ty tires

Bay

Also here is a cool little video I put together last night after we drove all the way home. Shows the video of entire swap and some sound/drifting clips at the event...much better than the last video

Still lots of work...the saga will continue

I have a small video/photography business that I use a Canon XL2 for, rc-tvproductions.com. Great camera, its been with me for a while.

Thanks for the comments! Hoping to get back working on it soon, but still recovering from the event and taking a break.

aww that blows about the tie-rod. I think the O-Reilly there in Mineral Wells had some tie-rod pieces...I tried to get their stock up of 240 parts in case something broke and ordered some in a few months ago.

I was wearing the crazy pants, hard to miss

Any changes to be done for the car next month?
