Whereabouts in Austin are ya? I keep seeing all these ppl on here w/240's that live in Austin, but I have yet to see them around....I swear I'm like the lone 240 here sometimes. Anyway project looks niiiice. I got something in the works right now but time has been an issue for me in past year.

looking great keep it up.

Tho when i first saw you paint the valve cover I was waiting to see if ya polished the letters and a chrome caqp will set that valve cover off. IMO wet sand it all the way up to 2000 grit. then clear coat it so you dont have to polish it all the damn time. unless you are like me and like to polish it. So it gives you a reason to look under the hood for any leaks or loose hoses.

Jus wondering. Am I seeing this wrong or something. Is that Gauge pillar for the passenger side? If so. RWD conversion? ~skott

Is it ok to fall in love w/ a woman over a forum? Btw Austin rocks. like they never say... once you live in austin, u'll never go to bostin. that was lame. I'm really liking the car, i guess it always helps to have a bit more than 2 dollars in you bank .

O, hey! do you want to sell your ka? i need one. i'm in Houston

Nice, that cover looks great!

I'm off of 290 before you get into Austin on the east side. Been here for a few years now, moved from Houston. I really wish sometimes the 240 was street legal...don't see too many 240s up here. The good and bad thing about this project is every bit of my paycheck that isn't used for rent and living goes into the car and drift events.

The gauge cluster is from the skyine we bought the engine out of.

We're still not sure if we are selling the KA...may drop it into a shell and make a daily, and if we do sell it there are already 3 people inline for it. Assuming it is in good enough condition though.

I have been meaning to get a bunch of 240 austinites together and just BS....I'm right in Round Rock, not too far if I use the toll roads. Maybe I need to start a meet n' greet for Austin soon.

Nice build!

How are you liking the Ground Control springs? I've seen very few 240 owners that actually use them although they've been a proven setup on almost every other car. Do you know what spring rate they are?

Not sure what spring rate they are as I just swapped them off of my friend's car. I like them, seem to handle the car pretty well even on the rough ground we run on at one of the locations. Looking forward to getting some KTS or stance coilovers in the future

Another small pic update. Project has been put on hold after my surgery, but should resume tomorrow on my first day off from work for a little vacation to work on the car.

Ordered a few more parts, some Gates belts, a Greddy timing belt and oem tensioner.

Cleaned up the garage so we could actually fit a car in there. Currently my boyfriend's G20 is in for a broken brake line, body work, engine mount replacing and clutch switch repair.

Engine was pulled by 2AM, today's plan is to get the engine bay cleaned up and start assembling the RB's peripherals

Pulled in the garage, the KA's last run

Did a compression test on it - 150, 150, 140, 145

Before

During...forgot to drain the transmission and it drained all over the garage floor and down the driveway a bit before we could get a container under it. Now it smells nasty in the garage

Engine out, time to get to work on the engine bay

Taking a break for dinner so I'll post some pics from today. Our car is coming along nicely, big project, but it is mostly on schedule so far.

started out first seeing how the radiator/intercooler setup would work, too tight for the length of the RB

Cutting the support to make more room, will fab in another brace later. Going to make it easier to get the engine in the car as well, good with our limited space.

Checking the fit

Getting some more room for the lower rad hookup and cleaning up

Greasy, grimy engine bay cleaning and prepping

Yuck...

De-greased and painted. Did not get to finish stitch welding as the wire ran out. Looking a lot better!

When I was not being pelted with my bf's flying metal bits I started work on the RB's timing belt. Finally got the pulley off after some arguing and a trip to the hardware store

Replaced with Greddy timing belt and put in a new OEM tensioner, from old belt coming off to new belt on it took about 10 minutes...so nice to be able to have full access to the engine.

looking good.

lol I like the smell of transmission fluid(god that sounds so wrong)...... cooked ATF is a horrid smell though.

CAS looks exactly like the one my CA has, wonder how close they are.

Did you replace or inspect the water pump and oil pump while your engine is still on a stand?

You may want to pull the timing belt back off and check the water passages and especially your crank snout. Be warned. The oil pan has 30 bolts, and you really do have to have the motor out to remove the pan.

If your car is track only, you may consider the N1 series water and oil pumps. The N1 water produces less cavitation at higher speeds, and the N1 oil produces higher pressure.

I can verify tomorrow if the CAS between the R33 RB25DET S1 and CA18DET are the same. I know that the coil packs are interchangeable.

And after seeing your thread inquiring about lifters, I assume that your engine is already in the chassis.

Yeah, the engine is already in the chassis. At least with our setup the engine will be semi-easier to get to

Day 3 and 4

Came out to the garage in the morning and the RB had left us a present…an 8 foot long oil slick that was draining down our driveway all night. Took almost an hour for me to clean it up.

Putting on the Greddy manifold and the throttle body

Hicas crap removed for good

Yay for wiring

Re-wired harness

McKinney mounts installed

Getting the turbo plumbed

Replaced the caps with nice new ones

The 240 awaits

Getting the 240 in place. We live on a hill…no engine, no problem! Just pushed it in with the F250

Beginning to fit in the engine. Removing that core support was a great idea!

Almost there, had to pull it out once to bang on the firewall some more, but it went in pretty smooth. Used a jack on the back of the transmission and just pushed the engine in while lowering both jacks one at a time.

In with room to spare. Now we need to get all of the little items finished.
