I've got Polk Components, and I don't think the Infinity are any deeper.

We are going to accepting Paypal which will allow for same-day shipping. We will always accept Money Order, Cashiers check, as well. If you pay by check, we will have to wait for it to clear.

I'll try to do some measuring tomorrow and see how everything works out!

We will test fit every pair of speaker adapters before they leave to ensure quality and fitment!

Our Paypal is "[email protected]"

i did a little poking around for measurements...

that first link that was posted, the guy is using infinity reference components, which are 2 1/16" deep. he says they're "about" 2 inches, and if your speaker is deeper than 2 inches you might need to make the board thicker or whatever (he's using 3/8" plexiglass), but then he says there's an inch of clearance between the window and the speaker magnet.

so, i dont know. the polks that underground is using are I think 2 1/8" or so, though i dont know the exact model so i dunno. the infinity kappas i wanna use are 2 3/16", but if the 1 inch clearance thing is right, that should still be fine. i imagine you could stick some felt to the speaker magnet in case it bumps the window or something. =)

i'm just going to wait for underground's analysis before i buy my speakers. =)

Ok, I finished the car last night and here's the pics you wanted. As you can see, we didn't take our time on letting the paint dry. We didn't get it finished til about 7 p.m. and the sun was setting. The ones you guys will guy will be nice and shiny! You should have about 3" behind the spacer to play with! I don't think you will have a problem fitting any speaker you want in there.

Since we are using 1/4 Oak speaker plates, we are spray painting them with Krylon to keep them from being water damaged, etc. This should ensure you years of service.

Take care! Let me know if you want the kit and I'll get them in the mail today!

I'm SOOOO GLAD someone has stepped up and started building these. I would suggest you sell them to non-NICO folks for a little more :D.

Hey Yorb,

I finished packaging your stuff, and it will go USPS tomorrow morning.

When you use the screws we supplied, don't overtighten them, as the board is 1/4 and will crack if you overdo it. Just wanting to give you a heads up!

I threw in a little extra goody for you being the first guy to buy the adapters!

Take care!

i gotta quick question, hopefully you guys wont think its a dumb one :(. anyway, the speaker grill itself is 4x6, and the bigger speaker is 6.5"... so like do you know what im getting at? would the door panel/grill hinder any of the sound quality of the bigger speaker? thanks

Maybe, but I think the increase in performance of a 6.5 over a 4x6 is going to more than make up for any lost sound waves. just look at the rear 4x6s, the plastic "grille" covers probably half of them anyway. If it really bothered you, I suppose you could just cut away some of the paneling and use the 6.5" speaker grille instead (most components come with grilles).

by the way, i got my mounts today chris, can't wait til my speakers get here! ;)

yeah that thought actually had occured to me as well. similarly, custom mounting leaves no room for angling the speakers, as the stock 4x6s are. but since they're components, you can angle the tweeters and the woofer cone doesnt necessarily need to be pointed at your face. case in point, subwoofers are traditionally angled back or up.

my new kappas are on their way though, so i'll let you know how it sounds with these mounts.

i havent put em in yet, but i did recieve my speakers, and being the excited impatient person i am, decided to orchestrate the install in my head, using your plates and the speakers. turns out, the speaker holes you drilled wont fit any combination of the multitudes of adapter plates that come with the speaker, so im going to end up drilling new holes. =/ these are infinity kappa 60.5cs btw.

not a big deal, but i just thought i'd let you know before you go mass-producing them. on closer examination, the holes dont even line up in a square, so i dont know what the heck kind of plate they would fit. ;D

ill let you know how it goes once i get everything in. yay!
