Here's a suggestion about the crossovers in doors: How about wrapping them in saran wrap to waterproof them? Seems a like a ghetto but effective way to protect shorting anything. I've brownbreaded my doors and after a rainy few days, there was some water in the bottom of my door. I've noticed some tiny rust spots in there too. So, water DOES get in there. All those times rolling down the windows to get the snow and ice off in the winter probably wasn't good to the rubber window seals.

Also, what are some good 6.5 inch speaker recommendations to run under deck amplification only? I've got a Pioneer DEH-5500MP.

Hey Guys!

After this final pair is sent, I'm done making the adapters. I just don't have time. I am however looking into possibly having them professionally produced if there would be enough interest. But, we're talking $50+/pair to have them produced.

Take care!

Chris

Thanks for the recco Yorb. I made pictureque post to your factory amp bypass thread. Do you approve? haha.

Anyway, until I aqcuire some power tools, no 6.5' component speakers for me! Looks like I got in here too late to jump on the $40 speaker adapters.

karay240!! If they are going to be professionally mass-produced, could you change the design a little? perhapds make it a little thicker and shave off the face at an angle so the speakers are angled a bit more upwards and towards the ideal 'dome light' imaging direction? That would of course change the circle into an ellipse, but I'm sure these pro's can accommodate for that. If they DID do that and they still cleared both the factory grill on the door and a rolled down window, then I would gladly pay around $50 for it. Please keep me and whoever else that may be interested updated about these developments!!!

I spent about an hour trying to cut out the templates. We are having problems with the Lexan melting. We are using a jigsaw with 24 teeth metal bits. The teeth get so hot that they are melting the Lexan and when the bit passes past a section freshly cut, that passed section melts back together.

I'm not sure that Lexan is going to be the best option. I think that MDF wood templates might make a better match.

The lexan is fine when cutting straight lines, but when trying to cut the circles, it is almost impossible.

I don't claim to be a lexan guru, so maybe someone with more experience could give me some pointers.

Chris

I know that post was from 5 months ago, but have you or anyone else who has thought about fabricating these for sale tried to water cool the area of Lexan that you're cutting? Pour cold water to cool the Lexan from melting together just as it's cut?

And IS ANYONE SELLING THESE ANYMORE OR DID I MISS THE BOAT? karay240, I assume you're partners with UNDERGROUND, no?

I am done making them for awhile. The neighborhood housing office issued me a warning because of all the racket from using the drill...

I guess I violated some sound ordinance and the neighbors were freaking out...

So, that's a no go on speaker adapters for awhile....
