Okay, given that we did not have a direct comparison yet, I decided to try it out too and compare to the Zaino results I posted about some time back. I ordered my 5 Star Shine kit yesterday ... will let you all know how it goes!

Thanks to all who are giving 5 Star a try. I look forward to hearing back from everyone.

Have a nice safe, Halloween weekend. I live about 6 miles from the Simi Valley 118 freeway in CA. We had a voluntary evacuation but in the end our neighborhood was fine. There are so many others who lost everything. It's easy to take things for granted. The Red Cross donation banner on Nico is a way we all can help.

to anyone who is trying out 5 star:

are you going to use it on your windows? would someone be kind/willing enough to do that? the website says its perfectly safe on windows and i didn't get a chance to apply it on my windows so i was wondering if anyone would do that. in either case, please enjoy 5 star.

btw chad this is slowmotion in case you were wondering

Hello all,

I finally applied the 5-Star this weekend. It went on real nicely and the car looks great. I washed first then clay barred, then applied the 2-step 5-Star. In all, it took about 3 hours, that includes wash and clay bar. The car looks really nice and the shine deepened a bit the next day. So far so good. We'll see how it does over the next several months. I'll keep you all posted.

The best test will be when it gets dirty and when you can just spray off the dirt or wipe with a mitt or something, and it still looks freshly waxed.

I'm sure it will get plenty dirty. I basically live in a construction zone and roads are covered with dirt and mud and there is dust in the air. I will probably pull in the garage tonight and wipe it down to see how it does.

I have now used 5 star on all three of my vehicles (sorry I don't have any pictures). I used the clay bar first, then the ionizer liquid, then the 5 star. I have had it on the oldest vehicle for 7 months now. Literally, all I have to do is use water and a brush or rag, and it shines up just like the first time I put it on. I personally think the shine is outstanding. The best part is that I'm not using soaps, etc, just water to wash it and clean it up. I also found that it goes on really easily. I think that using the clay bar first is important, since you get all the gunk off the car rather than sealing it in.

I am generally skeptical about claims made for various products, having been burned before - but this one actually lives up to the claims. If you care about your vehicle, I can't think of a better investment in it for the long haul than 5 Star.

personally IMHO its all about paint surface prep.after u get out all the swirls and chicken scratches and the like then i think u can add a wax or sealant of any brand to really bring out the shine.more so if when u have performed all prep work before hand.

Harleigh,u said youve used it on 3 of your vehicles but u never mentioned what color are all of them.jus wondering here b cuz if u have any dark colored vehicles then i hope more than likely youve taken the time to go over all of your vehicles and see if theyre were any swirls marks,scratches,etc..i mean yes it is easy to add a product and make your car/truck/suv shine but as i said IMHO its all about prep work before hand.

Just to be clear - on my three cars one is white, one is silver, and one is a medium grey. I also agree prep work is important - no point in sealing in stuff you want out, not in!

very true. although 5 star is a great product, it shouldn't be considered a miracle product. you still need to work a little to remove scratches and contaminants before you apply 5 star.

Hey Chad,

Sorry about not responding to your emails. I have been having a problem with the account lately and haven't been able to send email, but I could receive it. Anyway, I finally washed the car. It looks really good, just like I waxed it. I just sprayed it down with the hose real well and wiped off what ever was left with a microfiber wash mit. Everything came off very easily, bugs, road tar and dirt. So far I'm impressed.

How are things down there in Southern Cal. since the fires?

Hey Ryan, yeah, I kinda figured that you were out of town or something else. Glad that the 5 Star is working for you. You'll get the same results over time.

Thanks for posting. It would be great to get updates from you along the way..... . Having a moderator like yourself trying out 5 Star will sure help me continue to gain the trust of the members of Nico. As always, I'm available if anyone has any questions.

As far as the fires go, we were spared, but over 1,100 homes were lost in the S. California area. It is pretty amazing to see the generosity of people in great times of need. Lots of great stories. Unfortunately out of the ordinary this past week, hail rained on Watts near downtown LA and flash flooding hit alot of low-income areas. In an hour they got 3 inches of rain. Alot of people lost cars and had thier houses flooded. The weather has not been good to us in CA lately.

Thanks for asking.-Chad

I purchased 5-Star Shine a month ago and am very, very pleased. My midnight green Taurus is five years old and it had been over three years since it was waxed. Before doing anything else, I had it taken to a place to have the dings removed. Then I cleaned it with some Maguire's Pre-wax and swirl reducer that I had laying around. Then I applied the 5 Star product. It was very easy to use and my car looks amazing. It is so shiny, you can't really tell what color it is. It is incredible. There are no swirl marks, not as much sticking in the crevices with a white build-up like wax and the finish is so slick. It is incredible. Now I just wash it off once a week with the hose, sqeegy most of the water off and then finish it with a towel. Before that I always paid $5+ to have my car run through the the cloth car wash because I live near the beach and what you put in the gutters, drains to the beach, so I didn't want detergent going to the ocean. But now it is just water, no soap, so I save the $5 every week and my car looks spectacular. People at work wanted to know if I got it painted that's how good it looks.

I just thought I would give a little update regarding my experience with 5-Star. The winter is finally over, had that last bit of snow a couple weeks ago and hopefully it will stay away. Looks to be a lot of rain now. But, 5-star held up well throughout the winter and is still going strong here in the spring. The car still has a real nice shine to it and is just as easy to clean as it has been in the past. A powerspray of water over the entire car and the dirt just washes right off and then a nice spot free rinse and I never even have to touch the car. So far I am very impressed. I'll see how it does through the summer and post up another update.

Yeah, so far so good. I've got nothing bad at all to say about it. I highly recommend it. What better way to spend $60 or $70 than to protect your cars paint, enhance the cars appearance and making washing the car a breeze and basically eliminate waxing a couple times a year? I just hate that we had all the rain at the meet last month so that no-one could really get a look at how well it worked.

Another update on the 5-Star on my G35 coupe.

So far, the 5-star has held up well. I have had it on the car for about 8 or 9 months now. It did well during the winter and now we're getting into summer and we'll really see how it lasts when the car is baking in the sun all day. Washing the car is still a breeze. Just power spray it and spot free rinse. I haven't seen any real deterioration in it at all. So far so good.

The 5-Star delux kit comes with clay bar, towel, car wash, detail spray, foam applicator and the 5-star product itself for like $95 with the VIPDISCOUNT. I think it's a heck of a deal. But then again, I have no idea how much the Zaino is and what it comes with.
