we finally got some rain in Southern Cali last night and today....I thought it would be fun to get some wet driving done on my broken-in, new set of Hankooks....so I took out the Injen CAI and reinstalled the stock air box with Ztube...

Previous tires: Goodyear Eagle Gt's (had on for approx 1500 miles)

Current tires: Hankook V12 evo 2 (approx 1100 miles)

-- the Hankook's are solid on dry road, very good grip during spirited driving.

On wet roads today, the tires grip really good on turns and while braking. There is no hydroplaning and the car felt planted. after a few runs from 50 to 80, no issues and the car drove straight as an arrow. A few stop light runs from a stand still to 50 was effortless -- no wheel slippage at take off.

These tires will be on my car year round, very impressed with the handling, braking and traction, the road noise is minimal....Overall, great tire for the price.

1. Painted the black plastic middle piece in the lower front bumper - it was chipped and beat up
2. Changed my plasti-dipped OEM grille for the mesh C-mod grille - will be writing up a How To "change your front grille" with pics some time in the near future
3. Tried my hand at tinting my tail lights with a tint film kit - turned out ok, not great but will see how it holds up
4. Hooked up a lightning charge cable so I can give my new iPhone 6 some juice when streaming tunes through the Bluetooth adapter, running Waze, and Escort Live with my SmartRadar interface.

Hey Craig,

how do you like your iPhone 6 ? I have one as well...love the size and functions. However, I have to use my ipod Touch in my M since I have the USA Spec ipod interface -- the cable is made for the 'older' apple power inlets.... I'm planning on installing the Parrot Bluetooth interface car kit in order to forget about iphone/ipod cables....

Anthony,

the 6 is awesome, I was using a iPhone 4s, so it was a pretty big jump for me in terms of size, processing power, plus 4G LTE. Bluetooth phone calls sound better on my end and my wife says I sound clearer too when I call her from the car. I'm using the USA spec PA15-NIS, but I bought a Bluetooth adapter that I hooked up to the 3.5 jack. Music pauses when I make or receive phone calls which is nice. The Parrot stuff is really NICE, should be a sweet upgrade.

I came from using the the 4S as well...agree about the big jump in size and technology :dblthumb:
I was comparing the 6 to the 6Plus the day they came out and I found that the 6Plus was just too much for my needs....I'd feel uncomfortable lugging around a huge phone....I have the ipad and Mac for my other use, so the 6 was best for me... thanks again!

Our M's have a bit odd shaped rear window areas. I found it best to use the rails and hooks from those curtains and make my own custom curtains out of good thick material that is the proper shape for our car. You can block out a lot more light too with the custom fabric, the JP (and knockoffs) are pretty thin.

FIRST COMPLETE DETAILING OF THE NEW (to me) 2009 M35:

Fetucini and I drove the car to Scooter's so we could do this without the wind blowing beach sand onto the surface while we worked.(an unavoidable terror when you live on A1A and your garage is full). Elasped time including waiting for final wax coats to cure: about 5 hours. Scooter, Ms Scoots, Fetucini, and I started after 4pm when the sun was almost down and finished in the dark, LOL.

1) Jet sprayed to remove dirt / sand that could scratch the finish during a hand wash.
2) Foamed with suds sprayer, allowed it to slide off, carrying dirt with it, then rinsed.
3) Hand washed gently with microfiber mits getting in the little tight spaces - rinsed.
4) Dried gently with Griot's MF drying towels.
5) Griot's Clay Bar and Speed Shine. (removes sediment, road grime, acid rain, and prepares clear coat for polishing)
6) Painter's tape over chrome trim and pin-stripes. (protects from buffer action). Hand waxed over these by hand later.
7) Polished with Griot's 6" and 3" random orbitals using Griot's Machine Polish #3 - removes any oxidation and faded spots in the clear coat. Removed with MF towels.
8) Wiped car with Griot's Pre-Wax Cleaner (removes any remaining polish residue).
9) Applied Grito's Paint Glaze with random orbitals (4-6 passes per area and removed with MF towels.. (fills in any remaining fine scratches, deepens clear coat, and evens out the surface for waxing)
10) Applied 3 light coats Griot's Best Of Show(Brazilian Carnuba) with Griot's random orbitals. I blended each area with 6 passes and allowed each coat to cure for an hour, applied a second coat without removing 1st coat, applied third coat without removing coats 1 & 2. Then let all three coats cure for 2 hours and removed with MF cloths.

(They use Griot's at the local Bentley dealer but do it in a HEPA room with 4 coats on top of each other, cure it overnight, add a 5th coat the next day without removing the previous 4 coats, curing for an additional 4 hours, then hand buffng).

These pics were taken the following day after we did the wheels, wheel wells, tires, and exhaust tips.

The pics do not do justice, but they do show the depth and clarity of the factory pearl finish.

This treatment will last about 5-6 months in the FL sun and heat. After that, it still looks brilliant, but less depth and clarity.

What is that silver looking oval thing at the front of your front door just below the chrome strip?

I wondered abouth that, too. It's an Infiniti logo chrome emblem on both front doors that I never saw before. I'm guessing it was an after-market thing because I have never seen them on any other models. I haven't decided if I'm going to remove them yet. For now, it doesn't bother me because it seems to look good without looking like it's been pimped with auto parts junk the way those fake vents look.

It looks awesome Larz! I'm starting to stock up on various Griot products. Their headquarters store and showroom is about 25 miles from my home and I've taken my wife there a couple of times to see the car shows in their parking lot. I can't seem to get out of there without spending at least $50 every trip. I really like their leather cleaner and the microfiber sponges - best cleaning product I've found for the light colored leather.

Try spraying a moist applicator pad with his Leather scent pray and place the pad under the front seat.
Wait till you see the new design of the microfiber towels! Like 5x thicker and softer! If you don't have it already, make someone get you his random Orbital buffer for Chrimbo (you lot call it Xmas). I used the orange pads for polishing and paint glaze, then use the black microfiber pad to burnish in 3 coats of Best Of Show on top. I love his car wash too - it has NO detergents and contains lubricants that keep from scratching the surface as you wash.

Changed my passenger side Camshaft sensor in 15 min, bugger decided to give me problems at 1:30 am on my way to work, came home bought a new one and changed it out. Running fine now. Added my 12 inch sub with a Rockford amp, now I have the much needed lows that were missing.

On Veteran's Day and the day before:

did the 5/16" spacer/copper ISO Motordyne kit and added an Injen short ram, and I can barely hear* the difference (all plastic in place). I am hoping it will give me better mileage, and I know it has to be breathing better - we'll see.
Too much work to take the spacer back out! Especially those damn water lines on the TB cooler.
Washed, and did Mother's 1 and 2. Looks nice. Just need right color for chip fixes.

* I am a bit hearing compromised at 67 with one hearing aid. Intake growl is not in the challenge spectrum though.

Short ram intake will reduce MPG as far as I read. It's draws in too much hot air and to compensate the ECU dumps more fuel to cool the charge. You didn't have to install the TB Cooler lines. Didn't your kit come with a bypass adapter?

No bypass adaptor, or coolant valve in this kit. Once I decided to hook up the hoses with everything sitting in place with a couple of really big sockets underneath to hold the plenum cover on, it wasn't too bad with some lubricant on both inside and outside (to ease sliding of clamp) of hose.

Filter sits right by snorkel output. Maybe I need to fabricate a shroud? I could install the long ram with the filter down behind the bumper, but that seems like it wouldn't be any cooler, and there's no obvious place for the thing to bolt to.

No problem to return to factory intake system if that pulls cooler air.

FYI I have the R2C intake and my OBD-II scanner reports IAT at only about 10 degrees above ambient.

Placed a bigger Infiniti emblem on my C-mod grille (previous one seemed a little small)
Epoxied 2 bolts to the emblem, so I could fasten it to the grille with washers and nuts instead of 3m tape - for a cleaner install.
Not sure if I'm gonna leave it as is or plasti dip it black.

I was thinking about getting the USA Spec as well however i just upgraded from a iPhone 5 to 6. Instead of the bluetooth adapter could be use the apple 30 pin to lightning adapter? Can anyone confirm that this would work?

You should paint the calipers the same as the rim lip. G2 paint can give you an exact match if you have the paint code for $100.
