Very Excited! Here's a short vid of it starting up and running at normal temperature. No drive video, but soon.

Sorry the quality isn't all that; it was taken with my phone.

I need to listen to the video on a good computer; my speakers on here suck. I recorded it with my phone, and am worried it's too muddy.

Ok speedeast, I'm pretty interested in the swap. I was just curious as to about how much you have spent on the swap alone if you don't mind me asking. thank you ahead of time.

You'll have to let me do some math, I've been trying to block out that train of thought. I kept all of my receipts, but I haven't yet wanted to know how much I've spent. I'll throw something out in the next couple days.

Well, the only reason I ask is because I am about to purchase a vh45 from a local salvage yard. I'm pretty set on the swap and am going to be piecing the swap together because I don't have big monies like speed east. And I know that it is worth every penny so I don't mind.

I spent $600 at the machine shop prepping the engine for assembly (valve job, spring tension testing, allowance measuring, buying piston rings, main bearings, and rod bearings, etc. I spent $50ish on the materials for my engine mount brackets and transmission crossmember. I spent $100 on my mounts. $100+ on new hardware.

I gotta be honest, add up what you think you'll spend on it, then double it and that should put you pretty close.

I'm too busy/lazy right now to check, but there is a list of expenses on one page in this thread. When you're adding things up, don't forget all of the little things like filters, hardware, fittings, hoses, belts, etc. They all add up, and they add up quick. Keep your eyes on the classifieds for stuff you need. I got my transmission, adapter plate, and rear-end for $500 total. I may have driven 600 miles to get it, but I still saved a ton of money by switching to geico.

If you're about to buy something, feel free to ask where I sourced mine from, maybe we can find it cheaper for you.

That shinny one, was made by Mazworx and they no longer make it... and are to busy right now to produce them again.

As for the one with individual throttle bodies... more expensive than it's worth!

Hopefully there will be some more out there this year with Xcessive and a few others making them!

Was driving today after new exhaust... just a simple A to B easy drive... and I picked up a new engine sound. After some careful consideration and stethoscoping around, we believe the engine's downtime might have led to some hydraulic lifter issues. We'll soon be pulling things apart to inspect closer. Say a little prayer. I also seem to have trouble engaging third gear. I don't know if the short throw is preventing it from fully engaging or if the transmission is just a pile of sh1t. Hopefully I can get to the bottom of that, because I am particularly fond of third gear.

The new exhaust is very nice, though. :)

Back to working like a champ! Timing chain tensioner had pooped out and the noise was chain slack popping the guide between the cam sprockets.

Maybe one that doesn't sound like poo, or perhaps since he finished up his exhaust. I'm not retarded, I follow this thread and it is the best one in the 240sx section.

Give me some time on the clip. I painted the car and stuff, I have pictures, and I will get them up as soon as I can. I just moved to Florida, so things are still hectic. Car is in storage in Virginia; I couldn't get it perfect for the road in time for the trip. It still needs a clutch adjustment, I need to play with the brakes, and balance my wheels, etc.
