HAHAHAHAHAHHA! That's f***ing making me roll on the floor seeing as I've taken classes on this. The first firemen were Irish immigrants. FORCED to work on the FD. That's why the FD has always been predominately Irish and Catholic. They were paid by insurance companies to salvage as much of a home they could so that the insurance company wouldn't have to pay the owner of the home as much money.PoorManQ45 wrote:Firefighters were all volunteers at that time also.
No. Sometimes you just need to quit running your f***ing mouth, talking about s*** you know absolutely nothing about, and go sit in your corner and play with the dirt.PoorManQ45 wrote:Eh, sometimes the best you can do isn't enough.
Please provide source on that one as I'd be interested to read on that aspect of history. I am unable to find anything about that.ADDirishboy wrote:

Don't have the fire book anymore for that class, but that's how it was. No one else would give the Irish jobs. FD was their only option for a long time. Talk to any firefighter. Most all of them know the history behind the Irish and the FD. Again, there is a reason why Irish men are always associated with Fire.PoorManQ45 wrote:

Oh yea. The Irish were NEVER discriminated against. I don't have a link for you. I got it from my professor and a textbook. And personally, I trust a book more than I do some dips*** spewing whatever it is he pleases all over the internet.PoorManQ45 wrote:Also, I saw that alot of irish people became firemen, but looking through irish history I didn't find much on discrimination that forced them into firefighting
