ok, i live in Oklahoma, and this whole weekend, the whether was horrible, rained off and on, so it's very slippery, especially for my car coz i have not bought new tires so they were so so so bald!

then..the unthinkable happened!!! i was on the highway going home, doing only 50mph, went over a little hill, on the way down, my back......my back..... started to lose control....knowing i shouldnt let off the gas, i didnt. i just tried to countersteer and everything i could do, but no...still my left rear hit the median, and that led my car to spin 180 degrees, then i pulled my e brake, and the car still slid for a bit then it finally stopped on the grass that's between an on ramp and the highway, almost flew off that llittle on ramp cliff (dont really know how to call that)...

ah.........................................................i have only had my car for four months, and driven it for a little while! omg...........i was pissed! of course i was blaming myself for not driving slower, but then again, my car wouldve spun out anyways coz the tires were really bald!

here are some pics of my poor car

it does not look that bad, but my friend said it might have messed up underneath....we dont know for sure yet....it all happened too damn fast...

i hate this. :(

I doubt its messed up underneath, but it will be a little bit of cash to fix. 50 on the highway is so slow it shouldn't have happened. Bald tires suck, I hope you're getting new ones soon!?

NO!!! Damit, it seems like everyone is getting into wrecks. I know how you feel HKC. i wrecked my car on August 7th. Someone pulled out in front of me and I rearended them, smashing my front up badly. It was there fault so I am getting insurance money and she is getting fixed, but it sucks to look at your baby being wrecked!!!!!! AHHH WHY?!?!! I hope you are able to get her fixed soon!

ah...i wish a little bit of cash.... it looked way worse, when it was just sitting on the high way, the rear tire was bent, after we got it to a parking lot, it was strightened out a bit, so it didnt look as bad, but after my friends looked at it, they were kinda estimating a $1500 repair....oh i dont know..i do hope it fixable.

now i am looking for a 240 89-93....to swap my engine in and everything else that's usable....

1500$ isn't too far off I think. My brother got backed-into and had to get a new bumper and fender and that was about 1500$, but yours is an older car and I don't think you need a new bumper... but maybe a new taillight, as well as paint, so 1500$ probably isn't too far off, maybe a little high.

HAHAH!!! i wish!! eheh.. :D

yea i do think that the body work costs the most....i can get it painted and fixed all the dents for about...maybe $1000....but it's only an estimate....and that's a guy that does all of my friends' cars...so he is an old friend, and he does great work!

and thank God that i have free labor, coz my friends and my bf will help me.......

So sorry to hear about your ride. One of the wrecks I got into was a result of bald tires and wet pavement. I was getting onto the freeway at 35mph. I gave it a little bit of gas to accelerate, and the car put down so much torque that the already super bald back tires lost grip. I hit a light pole and wasted the entire right front of the car.

Moral of the story, get your tires replaced if you even start to think that they might be going bald.

wow...even at 35mph...ok, well i was thinking maybe if i was driving at like 40mph, it wouldnt have been ok, but i guess not...

but i was lucky that i did not get hurt..... and did not hit anyone, or wrap around a pole.....

Glad your ok. You might want to check out the rest of the car though. Especially if you bent the tire in. It might have broken some things in the rear suspension. :batman

im really sorry to hear about your wreck, but atleast you're ok, thats the important thing, that car is fixable, with money of course, and i would be it wont be more than 17oo or so. It rained here today (as usual :() and i went to make a right hand turn that was about to be yellow, and got on it a bit to beat traffic, when i lost the back end (dont know how, i have a FF car) and got almost completely sideways in teh middle of the street , but was able to pull it back, sorry you didnt turn out as fortunate, keep us posted, and good luck

Bald tires are not a smart thing to drive on. Would you drive on slicks in the rain? Traction is bad enough with good treaded tires in our 240's let alone one with no tread left on the tires.

yup, really....really bad! i wouldnt want to drive, but i had no choice pretty much....

either i drive my own car, or my bf drives his 240, same damn condition if it wasnt worse...

so....either way, it's bound to happen... and i was taught a lesson

wrecks do indeed suck, me and the Krazy Swerel know about them, well me more so than him, your body damage looks very fixable though, due to laziness in reading above I gotta ask if the car is still running and drivable?

probably, luckyily it wasn't wrapped around a tree after hitting three and demolishing three cherry trees...good times...

and I gotta wonder your sanity Main Event, for driving with slicks in rain, don't they hydroplane like nobody's business?

I know bald street tires will, I couldn't launch for muchless turn at a stop sign in my bird when I had crappy tires on it.

so I doubt you'd take up hard core drifting as an excuse to not fix the damage then?

yeah, it works on the same basis as the phrase "chicks dig scars".

gotta have something to let people know what it's from though. I wonder if there was a long scientific process used to prove that phrase...

WHAHAH :D well i hope if i do drive it, it does not look to ghetto! ehhe..:D i am a perfectionist...so i will fix the damage...no matter what..

and as far as drifting wise..it'd be fun to do in the rain in a HUGE parking lot! hehe..:D
