Oh they are the worst. There all painted and creepy looking, and the way they act around kids is very scary. Then you got mimes and they are even worse.

I've run Victoracers that were shaved to basically slicks in the rain. It was fun, but not totally uncontrolable. I think I've had worse experiences with bald Falken's.... but that's beside the point.

Sorry about your luck, I am recovering from a $1,800 bird strike if that makes you feel any better. It's been a rough few weeks for cars I think.

depending on the tire, falkens aren't good in rain though, like thea Azenis for example

I had some really bald potenzas on my tbird a while back, the 245's looked really good on it but good god I couldn't hardly move in rain. the potenzas do look like they'd be good tires in the rain going on what little of the tread pattern I could still see though.

hmm, maybe I should replace my tires. They aren't *bald*, but they are pretty darn worn out and crappy tires to top it off. I looked them up on tirerack and they were rated second... worst (of 44 tires in their class)!!! I knew that is wasn't right that I was spinning my tires so much in first at 1500 rpm!

BTW, just be glad you're ok, your car can be fixed, a dead HKC can't be ;)

You might want to check them out. Also read the Suspension/Wheels forum. Lots of good info there!

My dad asked me about that when I got my car. I'm starting to wonder too, cause with all the weight up front and your power pulling you along from there, it seems very easy to slip out the rear. At least, that's the only logic I can come up with... I've had this insane urge to just pull my e-brake one day to figure out how easy it would be to slip out, and also try just turning hard with no gas to see what would happen in that case too... but it hasn't rained and I haven't been anywhere I can do it safely... and yeah, whatever, one day I'll try it in a HUGE open area.As far as tires, I really don't suggest Firestone Firehawk GTA-2's, those are OEM for my car and they suck in rain and even when dry I chirp going from 1-2 under hard accelleration with the LSD option...edit: The tires are almost brand new, as in I've put no more than 1000-1200 miles them and when we got it from the small broker selling the car, they said they were nearly brand new, like no more than a couple of months. So I figure at most 5000 miles, but probably more like 2000-3000 (they've been known to last like 45,000).

its always worth the money to have a fresh set of good tires on your car. The same thing (basically) happend to my freind in his car only it sent him strait into a concrete wall and completely destroyed his car, so concider yourself very lucky. I hope you can restore your car to its former glory ;)

well its not always bad driving, but yes, 8/1o times or so its the driver fault (if no one else was involved that is), but there are those times where your car just hydroplanes or you suddenly lose grip and begin sliding, sometimes you can pull it back, sometimes you can't, even teh best of drivers have their bad days

oh....i dont think i am a bad driver, coz there are alot of bad drivers out there that are worse than i am... and i know that it wasnt of my bad driving, coz in that slick and bald tires condition, a normal driver wouldnt have been able to avoid it.

but it was my fault not to get new tires...but then again, i only got back from vacation two weeks ago, and then school started, and i was busy helping my bf fix his car, so i was a bit late on maintaining my car...it was my fault.ehe..:D

but then again, i never drove or owned a car before i bought this one, and i had to learn how to drive a stick in like 5 minutes..and i did...

and for only about a month of driving experience, i think i drive pretty damn good. ehhe :D

i used to have little confidence about my driving coz i was not raised with cars (i am from HK, and ppl there dont drive) so i never had to even touch a car...

so i think for a girl like me, i think i did pretty good. so at least i wont be scared to drive :D

sometimes I still get ansy going into curves fast, but more power to you, atleast they're not stereotyping you just for being female

I know all about the bald tires too though, I just got lucky and shredded one and didn't see spending the money on one tire when I could get a set of 4 for around 100 dollars more.

In a weird way I think an accident can be a good thing for someone to experience, in my case I learned it's a very fool hardy thing to be going that fast on public streets, some people out there don't think about the aftermath of a wreck like injuring or killing somebody, I still think about what could've happened if my car hit on the passenger side instead of my side on that tree, hell, your wreck wasn't as much carelessness as mine so much as weather, well minus the tires:). I feel a wreck can be a very humbling experience, I used to think I was a freakin tank until I was hobbling on crutches for a few months. As cliche as it sounds though I hope someone might read about experiences like ours and realize what could happen as a result of carelessness, negligence, stupidity or in my case asinine bravado.

I want anyone that's even thinking about going out and barreling down a road to think about what might happen if you blow a tire, hit a slick spot, encounter another vehicle, or god forbid a child walk out into the street.

I'm tired...

yea me too, or i wouldnt want to embarrase myself on the net..ehe...:D

but really though, some ppl drive, some ppl drive fast, and some ppl drive well. there is a huge difference between them!

i do think that this accident taught me alot, i mean and i think it happened for a good reason.

the day after my accident, i saw like 5-6 accidents on the highway, one that included a semi, and all of them are pretty much collisions (sp.) and i was thinking to myself that it couldve been me, i couldve been hurt to hit someone, or caused a huge collision or something. so i do know that i was very lucky and was given a chance.
