UPDATE:Ok, so since I last posted, I had filed for divorce through WA, she through CA, CA had taken jurisdiction......BUT SHE RESPONDED TO WA!By doing that she acknowledged WA jurisdiction. I have to fly to WA twice now, once for a "settlement conference" which she probably won't be able to attend, and once for the actual trial, which again she probably won't be able to attend.I managed to get my old bank statements, and added up the totals. I was supporting her while I was in Iraq, but I wasn't aware of HOW MUCH.GRAND TOTAL SPENT TO SUPPORT WIFES LIFESTYLE/BOYFRIENDS:
$1....
$15....
$157....
$1577.....
$15770!!! Thats right boys and girls, this is the total amount drawn from my checking account to pay for her rent, phone bills, car payment, credit card debt, utilities, food, gas, lingerie, bar tabs, etc.....not to mention cash withdrawals. This isn't counting the maxed out credit card.
However, this all plays into my favor, as she's pursuing everything through WA as well (support/alimony, retirement check, retirement fund, me taking her debt AND now she wants me to pay for her plane tickets to WA and back and/or attorney fees), because that grand total counts against her.
On one hand, it probably means I'll be giving up the 240. On the other hand, it probably means I'll be giving up the $7000 loan she took out in my name to pay for it.HOOYAH!
Do not fret, boys and girls, if/when it comes to this, I shall procure another. I'm a little to sold on the S13 to give it up entirely.
In other news, I've continued to tinker, repair, fix, upgrade, fiddle, poke at, diagnose, replace, and otherwise mess with the 240 as she stands now. I'm trying to keep the bill as low as possible, as I'm not sure how much longer I'll have this vehicle. So, here goes.
The spoiler on the back. You know, that funky little SE spoiler that seems like its made of hollow plastic or painted foam, soft and crackly to the touch?Wait, what do you mean its not supposed to be soft to the touch?!I found a rust spot on the bottom of the hatch, right underneath the attachment points, and it got the gears to turning.Using basic tools, some swearing, and a grunt or two, I managed to disassociate the spoiler from the hatch.
SO NASTY!
Yes, I did boo-boo a bit and scratch the paint in my efforts. Apparently rust makes and EXCELLENT abrasive! Who knew!
This is what the underside looked like.
Ick.
I'm cleaning it and filling the holes today.
Another problem that has been plaguing me since I got this thing was the heater. Or rather, lack thereof. It does get chilly in the wee hours here, and that's usually when I'm headed to work. With no defrost, or heat of any kind, I'm reduced to wiping the windshield repeatedly with a rag, then having the windows down while I'm bundled up in jacket, gloves, knit cap, scarf, and jacket over my legs. I look like a bum in a car. To those that made the Joe Dirt connnection, it's never more true than those cold mornings.
So I'm poking around in the engine bay, and I come across this:
"What is this?" I think to myself."Why, it's the heater coil hoses looped to bypass the heater coil entirely, and cleverly hidden behind the motor!" I quickly reply.
The reason I have no heat is because "somebody" decided that in addition to the metal chunks in the crank case, the complete lack of oil, the shredded transmission/diff, and the trashed look, the heater needed to be bypassed.
In case you don't believe me, here's some more.
I've painted some more of the car. The nose to the back of the doors is now rattlecan primer black.WAIT! BEFORE YOU BREAK OUT THE FLAMETHROWERS!I have the intention of painting it gloss black, and my buddy with the air compressor is waiting on a part for the compressor motor so we can get started. This whole rattlecan thing is just for practice, fun, and giggles. Besides, it covers the sun rash, scrapes, scratches, etc on the original paint.
That's all for now. Back in a while.
