Wow, I was NOT expecting that kind of response in less than a day! Thank you all so much for your replies. In answer to some of your questions:California and my home state of Washington are both "no fault divorce" states, which means that her actions play no part whatsoever in the divorce proceedings. As much as I would like to, she is unsueable on those grounds. I can only petition for divorce and hope for the best. I filed in Washington and server her with divorce papers stating that she willassume responsibility for those debts she caused on my behalf, as well as a denial of spousal support or alimony. She filed in California and served mea few weeks after I served her. Washington and California courts are debating on who hasjurisdiction and I am waiting on their answer. Given that we were married in Washington, we were both living in Washington originally, I'm still a Washington resident, and she was until she moved down here, as well as Californias financial troubles (she filed for unemployment, so the state is picking up her court costs), I'm hoping for Washington to take it all. If it goes to California, I have an uphill battle, as they will most likely award her spousalsupport (roughly a $24k-$30k lump sum), as well as a portion of myretirement checks, and a chunk of my retirement fund. Alimony is up in the airconsidering the shortness of the marriage (we were married just under a year before I deployed, just over a year before seperation according to her paperwork). As to the money she spent, in both states she was legally entitled to it. We had joint accounts and she had power of attorney, so I can't go after her for that. As to my belongings, I would have to prove that she stole them, which is pretty much impossible. My cats are doing much better. I've switched their diets to all natural foods, had them on antibiotics as well as herbal remedies. They both had horrible lung infections, fleas (and enemia from related blood loss), heart worms and tapeworms. Both of their coats have grown back in, they are clear of worms, fleas, and germs, and are adjusting well to the new place. I'm still furious at the condition they were in, but happy they survived. The only thing I can really do is batten down the hatches and brace myself for further rough times ahead. As to the car: I've replaced the headlights with black chrome and H4 bulbs, and I'vecovered the interior with baking soda to help get rid of the cigarettes and sex smell. She had taken the liberty of removing the oil pan drain plug, so I replaced the plug and the fluids. I added some RESTORE and that seems to be helping the compression somewhat, although it might just be the placebo effect. A bit of duct tape around the sunroof stopped the leaks, and I've got myiPod and headphones for music. I still have to bundle up in the mornings because it's frigging cold (heater was removed) but I can manage. Again, once I get a camera, I'll post pics.Oh, an I managed to pull 3 large garbage bags of trash out of it, including condoms and wrappers, empty redbull cans, cigarette butts and boxes, a few randomsocks, one pair of panties, and a tacobell bag from severalmonths prior. It's looking better already. Thanks again for all your support! I'll keepeveryone posted.
