A guy with a decent arm could have hit Kennedy with a rock from that window. Ridiculously easy shot.

when a presidential car rolls through a town, its the secret services job to make sure every window on the street is closed, if they spot a open window, its in their protocal to get agents to the spot immidiatly. Kennedy was left intentionally out in the open, somebody could have simply leaped out of the crowd with a knife.

And hitting moving targets from an elevated surface is incredibly hard. I have done all sorts of target shooting and i know this from experience.

That is now. Before they used to just roll through town in convertible. It was the way it was done BEFORE JFK. Check out Daley Plaza sometime. Easy shot especially for a trained Marine rifleman with a scope.

no that is the way they did it back then, and they deviated from over 15 standard motorcade procedures. The shot(s) occured while the vehicle was 80 yards away from the building, can you throw a football 80 yards? It doesnt really matter anyway as the fatal headwound shot came from infront of JFK as proven by the zapruder film and the testimonies of 16 doctors who all said they saw a large gaping exit wound at the back of the skull.

BTW, done a fair amount of shooting myself. Rifles, shotguns and handguns. Easy shot from that spot. Rifle was supported. Target moving directly away. Less than 80 yards range. (Tiger woods could have hit hot with a sand wedge!) Elevated position so bullet trajectory decay would be minimal.

Canadian snipers hit a Taliban guy walking on a ridge twice from close to 2000 meters using US ammo! They hit the water can in his hand first but the guy kept walking. They dropped him on the next shot. World record kill!

Gotta remember, Canada has a very proud military history. Well trained (albeit small for its size these days) profesional soldiers, sailors and airmen.

Impressive!

I'm not one for conspiracy nonsense, but I'm with JSpec on this one.

Archaic rifle, skewed scope, almost EXACTLY 80 yards, and too many other unanswered questions...

Occams Razor. Simplest explanation is almost always right. 80 yards is nothing. Check out Daley Plaza sometime. Easy shot for a trained Marine marksman. Flintlock from that range would be 50/50.

"Crawling up into a good position, they set up their .50-caliber rifle --the Macmillan Tac-50, a weapon the corporal compares to having superhumanpower in your hands. "Firing it feels like someone slashing you on theback of your hockey helmet with a hockey stick."

It was suicide. If I was the president I wouldn't be caught dead with my melon sticking out of car doing 5mph in a parade in Texas (especially with all the occurances of his presidency). No one is that stupid.

But seriously, its nuts that the media can dig up sex tapes on stars I could care less about, receive leaks of all kinds of sensitive information, but no one can definitively answer the mystery surrounding the assassination. We'll never know what really happened.

there is no such thing as an equation for life, the easiest route isnt always taken nor is it always the best answer!

I know if i were to assassinate the president i would want to come up with a scheme to get the blame as far away from me as posible. Anybody involved with the assassination would get a slew of charges if they were arrested: Murder in the first degree (punishible by death), Treason (punishble by death), conspiracy, obstruction of justic, etc etc etc. Every person involved would get like 300 years in prison and 2 death penalties, lol.

But if you are down to kill the president, you usually aren't worrying too much about the consequences.

Funny how things that are accepted as common sense now are applied to things in the past. It was absolutley the norm for the president to go walking around in crowds and riding in convertibles in JFK's time. Look at the news reels.

It was common place at one time to bleed people and drink unpasturized milk. The video cam wasn't commonplace until the mid 80s. 8mm cameras were a rarity in any age and it is a fluke that there was even that infamous strip of the assassination.

Not to belabour a point, but Apex, surely you're not saying that the absence of proof is proof are you?

and there is no proof other than there is a gun belonging to the goverment employee (LHO) in the book building along with 3 shell casings. No LHO fingerprints, the bullets are "missing", the brain removed from kennedy's head is "missing". The government damned their own case by getting rid of evidence. I wonder why they would do that?

You dont just lose a fricken brain taken out of the president's head.

What?

I wasn't honestly inferring that it was suicide. I just think it was a dumb move on a lot of people's parts...presidents have been assassinated in the past, and with Kennedy's rough term you'd think someone would ponder the idea of him having some enemies. I know hindsight is 20/20, but the sole purpose of the Secret Service is to keep the president breathing.

Either way he is dead and I could care less.

What do you do with half a brain in 1963 anyway? (Insert bad joke now.)

Apex, like I was saying, times change. Beethoven was admired and appreciated for generations and now people think it's the name of a kid's dog movie.

Snoop Dog. Now there's a master musician. Times have changed indeed.

you should care, we cant let our goverment be run like that. The whole thing basically amounts to a violent coup d'etat that happend right under our noses.

your right about the secret services job, which is why it is incredibly strange the one time the secret service didnt do its job there happend to be snipers. You can see that when the motorcad started there were secret service members jogging along side the car and were waived away by the Secret service guy in charge for some strange reason. You can see the men origionaly jogging along the car raising their arms in the air like "WTF is going on?" after they are waved of.

You guys just aren't getting it. It was the norm to ride around in convertables and walk in crowds. TR stood in a crowd and took a bullet and then kept talking for half an hour! Every friggeng president until Kennedy did it. For Christsake! It was 1963 not 2003! You are practicing text book revisionistic history. You are applying your sensiblities to a different time. That was then. 1963

It was a one man defacto coup d'etat.
