its been covered at length multiple times in the thread, quit being lazy and expecting to be spoon fed and take some initiative.

And its still lame that you think you have to keep it top secrect...

IMO Top Secret = you have no idea what your doing....

i dont know man. if i were the one in his position making the first supercharger kit for the KA i sure as hell wouldn't peep out any info for people to lurk into and claim their own.

Exactly, I really dont want to give the design out just yet.

As for not having any idea what im doing. Email me [email protected] and we can discuss. But im still not talking about the design. Ive told the basics. Roots style.

the mounting location has been discussed at length, we have already had pics, and I think even video of other supercharged cars.I don't get exactly what your hiding, pictures or video are only gonna show mounting locations, al the difficult stuff, exact bracket dimensions and fuel management ect are gonna be given away from pictures.Obviously your work, and you can be as secretive as you want, but all im saying is your secretive attitude does not in spite great confidence...FWIW as critical as I might be still secretly hoping you pull this off.

Great confidence is show in the product itself and how its represented. Its not finished yet so there is not a "product" its under development and there is not a reputable company I know that will allow all the information about their product to be announced before its finished.

Presumably you are making a bracket or other mounting hardware to bolt up an existing supercharger to our motor.

There is no way you will be able to patent or protect it. A bracket is not an "invention" and you cant patent a measurement, shape or dimension. Anyway, it's hardly unique or non-obvious as required for patent.

I believe people have done it before. It's not common on the KA due to space. But either way, simply custom fitting a device from one car to another without changing one aspect of it's intent or design is not an invention. Did it mount to the other motor with a bracket? Are you using a new material previously unknown to man or is your's just a bracket of different shape?

I'm not trying to discourage you - I think it's awsome. Just don't plan on being able to get a patent. Better to find another marketing edge.

Good luck!

The design of something can be patented. Due to using a Twin screw desining the kit is a lot harder than if I was using a procharger. Im not redoing the intake manifold to directly thrust the air into the manifold. The point of a patent is to protect a design. Just because it has something already know to man does not make it ineligable to have a patent.

Im not discouraged, just wish the fab man had more time.

I wish my uncle was a fab man for a supercharger plant. I would have been done a long time ago.--

People have done it before but didnt make it available for people to buy.

Thanks for the luck though. Should be a solid product when its done.

Like I said, I wish you all the best. I'm sure you can make money even if you can't get or protect a patent.

The USPTO web site has info on patents. If I remember the invention has to be unique, not in use and be "non-obvious" to those in the field.

Since every blower application has some specific form of mounting bracket/hardware, making yet another vehicle specific bracket is simply a change in measure. It is not a design improvement. It is not unique because every applcation has one. And it is clearly obvious because every blower needs a mounting bracket.

If by "design" you mean something like the unique shape of a coca-cola bottle that is a different story all together. That falls under trademark law and is in regard to logos and product identification. That is not even the type of thing you will be applying for.

Of course you can give it a trademark name and protect your name and reputation as the original inovater.

Man you need to set up a mailing list so people can sign up for updates! It would be beautiful to see a "Status report" email every now and then. Anyways, alot of people seem very interested in this kit so it might be something to consider. I would sign up.

Either way, thanks for working on this with all the issues that have come up. I believe if you pull it off, and pull it off right, you will be able to make some good money even if someone does steal the design/idea. Many people can do this, not many can/would do it right.

Not to be a party pooper but i have a good bit of experience with patents since my dad is the owner of a radiator and intercooler manufacturer. You can patent your design but ultimately your wasting your time. people can take 99.9% of your design change one tiny little thing and they will be allowed to sell it. Good luck with the project.

Looks like things are coming together (from what you are saying). Timing is everything. The way it seems, you have the support of the folks here at NICO. If I would have seen this thread a while ago, I would have waited for ths and not initiated an SR swap just so I could see the comparison before making my choice. I like the idea of "power" all the time, but that's life I guess. Gotta stand by your decisions and drive on. Hope everything pans out for you.
